  1. However, then for whatever reason, human refugees arrived, I believe fleeing an attack by Odium onto their home planet of Braize, in the company of Honor and Cultivation.

Probably without Honor, since Honor was killed by Odium and the spren are splinters of him.

The stormfather calls himself a sliver of Honor:

"I am the one left behind," the voice said. [...] "I am the sliver of Him that remains. I saw His corpse, saw Him die when Odium murdered Him. And I...I fled. To continue as I always have. The piece of God left in this world, the winds that men must feel."

"I AM THE SLIVER OF THE ALMIGHTY HIMSELF! the voice said, sounding angry. I AM THE STORMFATHER.

Otherwise the blood colors of Humans, Parshendi and fauna of Roshar should give a hint. It would have been red, orange and violet, I believe - some rereading is neccessary.

Assuming the fauna is aboriginal with violet blood, the Parshendi could have followed to Roshar - or evolved with orange blood. They are called the old people somewhere - I cannot find the source at the moment (ebook would be helpful). So it is quite sure, that the Parshendi were on Roshar before the humans arrived. Humans with their red blood obviously have a different origin than the rest of Roshar.

Considering the unroshar nature of Shinovar, there could be the seed of human colonization of Roshar.

  2. I kind of like this theory. So far from all the information we have seen nalan seems to be the only herald actively doing anything related to surgebinding. And we now know  the shin only have 7 of the honorblades. I can def see the skybreakers refusing to disband, therefore nalan going back for his honorblade

Upholding the Oathpact would have meant returning to whereever the Herolds went after a desolation (Braize??). Just taking back the Honorblade wouldn't have done it. None the less, Nalan's Honorblade could have been taken be a Knight Radiant of the Skybreakers before the rest was protected by the shamans of Shinovar.

  3. Windrunner, that looks good. Very good.

Although I was questioning whether the Azish man with the light crescent (birthmark) really is Nalan or some impostor.

Where is the rest of the Heralds

    (Amaram's men of Honor??)

    .

The other point is: Szeth would need a spren to bond - it would not just be given to him (in form of the black shardblade), would it?

Nalan as a Herald has abondoned the Oathpact together with the other 8 Heralds  (Prologue Way of Kings) - Why would his Order of Radiants not do the same?

Despite these questions I think you are right.

The strongest argument is Jasnah visiting the Highspren (which are very likely associated with the Skybreakers). Had all of them been "dead", none could have remembered anything.

  4. No, I haven't read Brandon's short stories - I am a fan of epic books. Everything that takes less than 6 hours to read is somewhat a "snack" for me. Even novellas leave the feeling of "Oh that's the end, it just began...."

Am I excited for Words of Radiance? Well I waited long for it, and waiting was rewarded abundantly.

I will reread The Way of Kings and Words of Radiance during the next week, because I am excited to ask questions and to contribute some ideas to theories about all that stuff, thats been revealed. Somehow have to refill my mind with early information and countercheck with all the great stuff from Words of Radiance. For now I will wait, so I won't spoil anything for you.

    Read and Enjoy!

And think of a compensation for you friends/relatives, perhaps you will be unavailable for some time ;-)

  5. Hi everybody,

I am new to 17th Shard and looking forward to discuss Cosmere theories, especially concerning Stormlight Archive.

I came to Brandon Sanderson books via The Wheel of Time series, after liking his ending the series.

Having read WoK afterwards, I was left with a little confusion especially due to the letter in chapter headings, so I bought other Cosmere books. At this point I have read Mistborn-Trilogy, Alloy of Law, Elantris, Warbreaker, The Way of Kings and Words of Radiance - yes, I had early delivery in Germany, the Almighty knows why ;-)

Without spoiling anything - I chose Pattern as my account name, since Pattern is my favourite in Stormlight so far - well excepting the main characters.

So, thats it for now. Have to reread a little...
