The Huffington Post Knows What We're Going Thru
Luke.spence replied to The Rooster's topic in Stormlight Archive
I sit on my computer all day refreshing GR, reddit, and this forum since if I don't do something, I'll go crazy before March 4th lol. -
Hence why I didn't pre-order from Amazon. I tend to receive things late in the day, and I took the day off to read it. It doesn't make sense to take the day off if I get it at 5 PM. Unfortunately, my local bookstore has no idea if they'll even have it I might have to drive an hour to get it.

Yeah, I figure that our questions might not get picked, but I thought it would be worth a try.

Hey guys, if you're Redditers, get over to this topic: http://www.reddit.com/r/Fantasy/comments/1z3gqm/help_5_questions_needed_for_brandon_sanderson/ Fantasy-Faction.com needs 5 questions to ask Brandon during a pre-WoR interview, and they're asking Reddit.com/r/Fantasy to help them pick which questions! I'm guessing they can be spoilery too.

Adolin and Renarin will probably become the primary driving force for the unity of the Alethkar in the later books similar to the way that Dalinar and Galivan were. So I think they will stick around for a while. Jasnah is kinda a loose cannon right now with several ways her character could play out. I think eventually Elokhar will get killed off, but I could easily be wrong.

We would have to silence all non-readers because the gasps and OMFG!s would be deafening, I'm sure.
-
I suggest we do a group skype call, and those of us who already have the book can take turns reading chapters to us lol.
-
There are additional comments that might support this in WoK. In one of the death-speak intros, someone talked about one surgebinder in particular. He said that they should be more wise than normal men since they have a spren, but one surgebinder did something bad.
-
I've always wondered about whether Adolin remembers his mother. He never really talks or thinks about her as far as I remember.

How Shallan Acquired Her Blade: the Ghostblood Conspiracy
Luke.spence replied to Confused's topic in Stormlight Archive
I do not know if this has been postulated yet, but this works with this theory as well. I believe Shallan's eldest brother was the shardbearer that Kaladin killed while saving Amaram. 1. Shallan said her brother disappeared a year ago, and Kaladin fought the shardbearer a year ago. 2. He was noted as having been from Jah Kaved. 3. He was most likely involved with the Ghostbloods. If Shallan's mother was a high ranking official, it would make sense for her to involve her adult son as well. I apologize if this has been suggested before, I'm fairly new to all this conspiracy theorizing lol. -
I actually only just realized that as I wrote that. I feel stupid that I didn't realize it until now.

There's also the fact that Amaram is much more like Dalinar than Sadeas. He's noted as wearing his military uniform every time we've seen him, and it's kept neat with no noted flares like the other lighteyes seem to use. He is also noted as being respectful to every man, regardless of position, which is MUCH more like Dalinar than Sadeas. I agree that the reason he was left behind is there's issues between him and Sadeas. It's also interesting to note that Dalinar received him so warmly, which is quite different from his disgust for most other lighteyes. Amaram is probably very similar to Dalinar, except that Amaram enslaved Kaladin for a shardblade, and Dalinar freed Kaladin with a shardblade.

I took off work for the release, and I think the pre-released chapters were around 150-200 pages (someone correct me if I'm wrong). That leaves about 1,100 pages (softback, that's what I read the most, and what I use to estimate reading times), it takes me about 2 hours to read 100 pages in TWoK, so that's 22 hours worth of reading. That means, if I read straight from getting the book at 10:00 AM, I can have it done before work the following day. Call me crazy and/or obsessive, but that's just how I am lol.

Codex Alera was actually the series that REALLY got me into fantasy when I was young. I read the first three, then made the yearly trip to the bookstore to buy the last ones as they were published. That's a series that gets progressively better the further you go (much like Butcher's other works). It's also much better from a military strategy standpoint than many books I've read lately. I do need to read Warbreaker, my only problem is that I have 2 hours to read every day (it might sound like a lot, but I'm used to 4-6 hours) and my goal is to read 100 pages in The Way of Kings a day, then read the pre-released chapters of WoR before March 4th. If I complete that, then I'll read either Mistborn or Warbreaker.
-
Sorry about that, I've read all the WoT books. I'm on book 4 of aSoIaF, I've read all the Codex Alera books, the first two books of Mark Lawrence's The Broken Empire trilogy, and the two released books in the Kingkiller Chronicles. There are others that I've read, but those are the primary series that I've read so far. I'm working on others, but haven't gotten very far yet.
-
I've read the WoT books that Sanderson wrote/helped write, The Way of Kings, and Elantris. Unfortunately, I haven't gotten around to the others yet since my TBR list is extremely long. Mistborn and Steelheart (I know it's not a cosmere book, but my friends have been raving about it) are my next Sanderson books after March 4th, but I'm also in the middle of books by Steve Erikson, Joe Abercrombie, GRRM, Scott Lynch, and Mark Lawrence.

So, this showed up on my facebook feed.
Luke.spence replied to Link Von Kelsier Harvey's topic in Stormlight Archive
This is almost enough to make me want to move to Utah even though I have absolutely no reason to move to that area of the country outside of the fact that that's where Sanderon lives lol. -
Can't wait for the Dayton signing. 3 hours away, but more than worth it.
-
I just started a Way of Kings group re-read last night lol. If I wasn't working 12 hours a day to get ready for a promotion in a week, I'd read Mistborn along with TWoK, but alas, I don't have the time
-
So, in discussing Heralds and such things with people on GoodReads, I figured it was time to join this forum. I don't know why I didn't do it sooner, but oh well. Anywho, I'm a huge Sanderson fan. He's my all time favorite author (Rothfuss is my second favorite). Unfortunately, I have yet to read Mistborn (even though I own them), so I can't fully appreciate some of the cosmere crossover stuff yet. After Word of Radiance comes out, I'll direct my attention to Mistborn so I can get in the loop on this stuff.
