  1. I agree that the Heralds are also special, at the moment I'm wondering if they have a way to produce their own stormlight or something, which would give them a higher capacity than a KR and subsequently be very good users of an honour blade.
  2. I just hope Amazon sells us the ebook on release day, I have a feeling we might get a bit shafted though .
  3. Amaram went against both the Alethi Codes of War and the shared radiant ideal, both of which seem to be set up as in-universe guides to morality. I'm not entirely sure what the consequences for Amaram would be for killing Kaladin's squad and appropriating the shards for himself as darkeyes seem to be quite expendable on the whole, but I imagine Dalinar at least would disavow him.
  4. Actually there's one thing about the scene that doesn't add up to me; Amaram repeatedly offered Kaladin the Shards and it was Kaladin's unwillingness to accept them that led to the betrayal, where Amaram cited 'the greater good'. However correct me if I'm wrong, but if Kaladin accepted the shards, couldn't he just wander off and do his own thing and so that 'greater good' possibly wouldn't be accomplished in that scenario anyway? It seems odd that Amaram was more than willing to go down that path.
  5. @Skaa; the only problem I have with your conjecture is that there's utterly nothing directly supporting it, which is quite a big problem ;P. As far as Amaram goes it should be clear to everyone that he is unfit for leadership when judged by the in-universe morality system (breaking 2 Alethi codes and the 1st KR ideal). I think the fact that he killed innocents really tips this over the edge of redeemability, although he'll likely be an anti-villain based on his words to Dalinar.
  6. Even if Jasnah can't transform surgebinders/shardplate wearers, couldn't she transform the air around them to say, sharpened steel? Heck even mud or stone would likely immobilize anyone.
  7. Yeah, personally I'm wondering if we'll see a scene in a later book where there's enough KR to drain a high storm of its stormlight (and kick considerably chull in the process). If these storms can be created by characters in the book then it stands to reason they can be stopped too at some point.
  8. Not to mention the fact that the (darkeyed?) troops in Dalinar's army have taken to calling him "Kaladin Stormblessed" again. While it's possible Amaram might not immediately recognise Kaladin, unlikely as that may be, he would certainly remember his name.
  9. If the king only had one set of plate then it would be referred to as "the set".
  10. Is it just me or was Brandon really pushing the whole 'train against someone equally powerful' with Kaladin in the new chapters? The only person we know to fit that description currently would be Szeth. I guess Andolin could give him a run for his money at the moment, but a shardblade isn't exactly the sort of thing you want to spar with/against and without it I imagine the fight wouldn't be too hard for Kaladin.
  11. How on earth is that justice for the darkeyes Amaram killed? Plus if Dalinar has a problem with how Sadeas used the bridgemen, do you think he'll be fine with what Amaram did? Note that this was previous to some of Dalinar's development and his belief in the codes has risen considerably. As far as Amaram goes, if I had to guess I'd say he used to be someone decent but is being corrupted by Restares. On the other hand considering who Dalinar was previous to the series, Amaram being an old friend of his isn't really a glowing recommendation, although it's not a bad thing either.
