I was going to suggest that you name it after that cone-shaped library in Kharbranth that Shallan and Jasnah studied in, but I googled it and found out that it's called... "the palanaeum." so never mind, just ignore me.

Welcome Rand! And for the record you are more than welcome to "sing up." This is a MLP game after all, and it would be highly entertaining to imagine you singing all of your well organized observations and reasonings. In fact, I'm going to imagine that for all of your posts anyway, because it amuses me.- 628 replies

Got it. Putting you down as "Steve, a pony who makes dumb jokes that are more confusing than funny." Is that an Earth Pony, a Pegasus, or a Unicorn?- 628 replies

Mid-Range Game 22: My Little Perfidy

The pony types are actually surprisingly balanced, with Pegasi now lagging only 1 behind the other two types. I'm curious though, while we're waiting for sign ups to end, who all picked their pony type for cosmetic reasons and who picked their pony type for game-mechanic reasons?- 628 replies

*FANFARE* The Cutie Mark Crusaders have spoken! Cosmetic Role: Fortune Teller: Whenever you address another pony, you must make a prediction as to what will happen to that pony next cycle (the predictions do not have to be even remotely accurate).- 628 replies

Looks cool @Straw! a few comments: "Smelly": I'd come up with a different name, this one doesn't seem to fit the theme... perhaps something like "underground connections"? Also, what do you mean by "role blocked for 1 cycle?" Does their action still go through but then they're Role blocked next cycle? Or does their action against you fail this cycle? I like the first option, the second seems broken powerful. I'm pretty sure Pewter should be a passive ability, not an active one. Room/Group PMs: speaking from experience, you'll want a mechanic that reduces the number of group PMs there are as the number of players dwindles. Otherwise you'll end up with group PMs with only 1 or 2 people. Overall: faction games are notoriously hard to balance, but I really like this one. I do worry about how you're going to divide the roles among the different factions in a way that's balanced. For example, the Coinshot is far and away the most powerful role, and in a 5-faction game like this the House(s) with a Coinshot get a huge advantage over the other houses. Also, you might want to consider working in a "comeback" mechanic for Houses that lose members early in the game. A house that loses 1 or 2 members early on can be significantly disadvantaged. I suggest this: Create an NPC character- we'll call him Kelsier- that is a faction-neutral Mistborn for hire. Each cycle (or every other cycle, or however you want to manage it), the House with the fewest number of living members can hire Kelsier to perform 1 allomamtic power of their choice to help them this cycle. But all in all, it looks great! It will be a fun one to play!

Mid-Range Game 22: My Little Perfidy
Herowannabe replied to Herowannabe's topic in Sanderson Elimination
Okay, finally getting around to some things I've been meaning to do. I updated the player list. I think I got everything but it wouldn't hurt to double check. Also, while I'm at it, if people wouldn't mind making it clear what their ponies' genders are, that would be helpful. With ponies, sometimes its not obvious from the name alone. I'm going to assume your pony is the same gender as you are unless you say otherwise. If you mean romantic relationships, I don't think there's any social taboo for relationships between different types. The show even has an earth-pony couple that has twins- one of them a unicorn and one of them a pegasus, so there you go. If you're talking about a more general type of relationship between the different types, everypony pretty much gets along (though historically it hasn't always been that way). Earth ponies typically grow the food, Pegasi control the weather, and Unicorns use their magic to help everyone. I see this is your first post. Welcome to the site and to the game, @Crimsn-Wolf! I hope you have a good time here! Also, welcome to @Conatus! It looks like you've been on the site for a little while but from your post count I take it this is your first SE game. Also, @The Flash. I think that's all the new players (so far), let me know if I missed anyone. I hope you all enjoy your time here, as well. It's always nice to have some fresh blood here. I'll also point out that @Arraenae is offering to draw people's ponies, so you could shoot her a PM with a description of your pony and ask nicely... I only counted 6 earth ponies- Did I miss one somewhere? I don't think I did, I went through the thread twice... Let's see, what else. I fixed the countdown timer in the original post. Also, I added an inactivity filter to the Element of Generosity- if the player who has it goes inactive it will automatically pass to a random player after a few cycles.- 628 replies

By the way I'm loving all of the ponies I'm seeing, nicely done everyone. It's been a busy couple of days and I've only had time to check the thread while on mobile, but once I get a chance to sit down in front of my computer I'll update the player list. EDIT: and fix the countdown timer. It should be ending Friday evening (MST), not morning.- 628 replies

Mid-Range Game 22: My Little Perfidy
Herowannabe replied to Herowannabe's topic in Sanderson Elimination
Oh the sword is fine, I was just going to go with something other than a violent murder for your father. I figure a mysterious disappearance (along with the sword) under suspicious circumstances will do the trick. That does make it tough. Cycles are 48 hours so I expect the game will last at least 2 weeks, perhaps longer, depending on how many people sign up. And since it starts on May 27th...- 628 replies

I'd let you get away without having a cutie mark as long as your Cosmetic Role takes it into account. However, I still have to say no Alicorns, sorry. You could be a Pegasus with a fake horn though (or a Unicorn with fake wings)!- 628 replies

Mid-Range Game 22: My Little Perfidy
Herowannabe replied to Herowannabe's topic in Sanderson Elimination
I never claimed otherwise. Come on, you know you want to. I tried to keep this game fairly rules-light so it shouldn't take THAT much effort to play. And maybe if you're lucky (?) you'll get killed off soon and can focus on your LG. Or if worse comes to worse just delay your LG, or make the signup period obscenely long. I think I can work something out there for you. I should note that in keeping with the feel of the TV show I'm not planning on there being anything as gruesome as murders, bloody wounds, violent deaths, and etc (instead, the Eliminators "kidnap" ponies and the lynch victims will be imprisoned and put into a coma-like state. You'll see), but I've got an idea that will work for what you want. You say you hate it, but you have no idea how close your character comes to an actual pony that appears in one episode of the show. Oh, that reminds me. "Alicorn" is not a valid choice when creating your pony type, sorry. Thanks for the link @Arraenae. So are you signing up as well?- 628 replies

Quick Fix Game 23: You don't want to Play this Game.
Herowannabe replied to Jo and the Bush's topic in Sanderson Elimination
Up in Dinosaur Heaven, Herbert rampaged through streets made of clouds, gobbling up everyone and anyone in sight. Except for Rand, of course. Rand rode in the saddle on Herbert's back, because, unsurprisingly, Human Heaven consisted of riding around on Dinosaurs' backs. It all worked out. Wow, close game! REALLY close, as in if we (the last few remaining Freelanders) had done almost anything else with our actions the last cycle we would have won. Congrats to the Hushlanders, and well played! Thanks to our esteemed GM, @A Joe in the Bush, the game was fun and well-balanced (which given the marriage mechanic was an incredibly feat in of itself), and the writeups were fantastic- they really captured the Alcatraz feel. Good game everyone!- 395 replies
