  1. Okay, so on my recent Steelheart re-read I got this funny feeling. All the Reckoners keep reffering to these other teams of Reckoners. But honestly, we never see any real evidence of these other teams. And how was David just lucky enough to stumble upon the team of Reckoners that had Prof, Tia and Megan/Firefight in it? I think maybe the Reckoners are actually just that one team, but they pretend there's other teams so that it won't be so depressing to other people, seeing just six people opposing hundreds of Epics. Thoughts? (sorry if this has been proposed or anything before)
  2. Bwhahaha, that's an awesome thread! I just had the most awful mental image of Edward Cullen trying to seduce Jasnah (and her being totally revolted)
  3. Only a LITTLE creepy. Anyway, he doesn't LOOK all that old
  4. I do. I love reading them! Especially Brandon's, they often contain little easter eggs.
  5. Shallan is going to murder Navani and marry Dalinar Kaladin is actually Peter Pan. Bridge Four are the Lost Boys and, obviously, Syl is Tinkerbell. That would make Sadeas Captain Hook, which I'm perfectly fine with. Oh, and Shallan is Wendy, of course. Crackpairing - JasnahxHoid. Actually wait. That might work kind of well...
  6. Okay, so it's pretty simple, we'll all write a Sanderson faction together - but you're only allowed to write one sentence at a time. It'll be set in Roshar, after the end of WoR, so there might be a few spoilers. As for rules, just please steer clear of sex and too much gore. Other than that, have fun! Please note that this story is not to be taken seriously at all. Do what you want, people. Shallan stepped out of the carriage into the evening air and glanced around.
  7. what is "bad" fantasy? Give us an exmaple of some books you read that you considered "bad" please Off the top of my head, I'd say try Brent Weeks Lightbringer series and Brian McClellan's Powder Mage Trilogy
  8. So here's my question: Are you less likely to buy/read a book (specifically a fantasy book) if the name on the cover is female?
  9. Everyone's harping on about Parshmen having to be outside to transform but guys... I think you're forgetting that the Everstorm kind of DESTROYS ALL THE HOUSES??
  10. Haha, WoR was nearest to me, apparently Jasnah just arranged for my marriage to Adolin... i"m not complaining
  11. "Do you want to destroy some evil tonight?" *wink*
  12. Oh, I totally missed that.. haha, me and details. Thanks!
  13. Oh, that's beautiful! I love how her dress fades into mist at her knees, just how described. Personally I always imaged her with a very long dress that she would fold under her feet when she sat down... weird, I know But honestly, this is stunning!
  14. Just finished Promise of Blood. I enjoyed it, and it was fantastic for a debut, but there were some large flaws... I'm hoping it gets better with the second one. Anyone read Crimson Campaign? Is it worth it? Starting my WoR re-read now
  15. Personally I tenhd to find another name or word i know to base the pronuncian off of. Like a series I recently read, the main charahcter was named Pazel, so pronounced it like "Hazel" except with a P. My mother however was saying something that sounded like "Gazelle." which really messed with my head, and the author was saying something more along the lines of "Parcel." I agree with the anxiety thing! My friends and I are always having arguments over whether its Seth, Zeth, or Szteh... Like Argent said, though, I love it that Brandon leaves it up to us. How does Bandon Sanderson pronounce Shallan?
  16. Mine would probably be "Write to please one person." What about you guys?
  17. I'm a girl, I live in South Africa, Pretoria Delighted to see I'm not the only South African on here...
  18. So I was wondering, what to you think of pronunciation guides for fantasy books? Annoying? Helpful? Personally it depends on the book... like for Wheel of Time the guide is very helpful, but in Eragon I just found the guide annoying, as I pronounced everything differently from the author. Thoughts?
  19. That's amazing! Woah! My chasms in my head were always so bland and boring literally just rock with a few random plants... I love fanart that expands my imagination (:
  20. Anything by Foster the People! But espcially Are You Who You Want To Be or California 37 by Train
  21. Thank you, that made my day Hahaha, I'm dropping hints everywhere! xD
  22. Hey, if I could, I'd buy a million copies of all my favorite books and hand them out to everyone I set eyes on. Unfortunately, I can barely afford to buy my own copies. I read about Sanderfans who are buying a third copy of Steelheart because there's a new cover and my mouth drops because I only just managed to squeeze together enough money for the one copy, which I treasure like gold itself! And though I'd love to lend the Mistborn books to everyone I know, I read them myself through lending from my sisters ex, so I can't. But If I could, I'd definitely do the "give, not lend" policy (:
  23. Anyone every heard of the Chathrand Voyage Quartet by Robert VS Redick? I've read the first three books of this series, and I'm loving it, but nobody seems to know what I'm talking about when I mention it, and I struggle to get hold of it in bookshops. So I came here to find out if there are any other fans (or critics) and to recommend the series tot hose who haven't read it. Before you begin, though, let me warn you - the magic system is quite different to Brandon Sanderson. I love it though, and I normally dislike magic systems like this. I love how much of their problem-solving is one by brains and hard work. The best part of the books, however, is Redick's amazing strong characterization. His characters are so real, so deep, it constantly astound me. (And if you liked Syl but wished she were slightly more badass, look out for a certain character named Diadrilu...) Another thing that I love about the series is how - Kelsier style - there's always another story. You can never be sure what's going to surprise you next. The author is incredibly good at keeping up tension and suspense. 1st Book: The Red Wolf Conspiracy Amazon Goodreads 2nd Book: The Ruling Sea (Or The Rats and The Ruling Sea, depending on which publisher) Amazon Goodreads 3rd Book: The River of Shadows Amazon Goodreads 4th Book: The Night of the Swarm Amazon Goodreads
  24. Oooh, these are beautiful! Jasnah is amazing! I love seeing how different everyone's characters are, especially Shallan. I love Jasnah's wavy hair - I always imagined her with straight her, but she looks great with curly hair too. Keep it up! \ EDIT: Btw, Jasnah's soulcatser is PERFECT! Just.... amazing in every way. And I love the glyphs on her dress.
  25. A question - to you think higher class people would then use duel-elements in their names? as a duel element is made up of a pure element and an invert-element? Would lower-class use duel-elements? I don't want to eradicate duel-elements completely, because I think they're a cool part of the system. Maybe only middle-class people would use duel-elements in their names?
