I noticed the Hoid thing when I read Warbreaker (I'd remembered Hoid in Mistborn but not in Elantris), but, since I'd played so much Final Fantasy, I just figured it was like Cid, who pops up in every game but isn't the same person. Go Sanderson, for blowing my mind.

I think Adolin is going to be Odium's champion. Just look at the end of WoR. You can see the seed of jealousy starting up now that his father, his younger brother, his fiancee, and his bodyguard are all Radiants (and now he'll be completely overshadowed). And then he goes and kills Sadeas out of complete rage and hatred (and no honor, I might add). Also, as a side note, I feel like Sanderson is going to make Kaladin and Shallan a couple eventually, and that can only happen if Adolin falls. Adolin was Dalinar's heir, was the golden boy of the Kholins, but now that he's being overshadowed, how do you think he'll feel? Bad, very bad. And that's when Odium will pounce. It won't happen immediately, but you can see it start with the end of WoR.

I just recently finished the first season of Psychopass on Netflix, and I must say, I was really impressed. It starts out like your average dystopian storyline, but the ending is fantastic. The first episode is a little grimy, but the characters are pretty decent people to each other, and the villian is a really good villian. I really recommend it if you're looking for something exciting that doesn't take too long to finish (though season 2 just recently came out).

Well, as implied in the Letter, he seems to be against Rayse/Odium (and actually trying to take action against him), and anyone who's fighting against anyone named "Odium" can't be that bad.

Theory on why Vin avioded Hoid *Minor spoilers for WoK*
Arachiel replied to Nesh's topic in Cosmere Discussion
Just found this on Coppermind under the Sliver page: Vin avoids Hoid in book 3 after she held Preservation briefly at the Well, which makes her a Sliver (or once a Sliver). So, at this point, she can sense that certain people are different in some way, though of course, she doesn't know anything about "Investiture," slivers, or shards. So, she has this sense, which she attributes to her intuition, and because of this, she avoids Hoid. Does that mean that Hoid himself is a Sliver? Expanding on what Mistborn_Jedi said earlier, this may also mean that the other person who had been looking for Hoid with Galladon and Demoux may be a Sliver as well. I'm not sure how long-distance that "sliver-sense" would be. I agree with what Mistborn_Jedi said, though, that Demoux and Galladon, one without atium, the other so far from Elantris, probably aren't too extraordinarily powerful unless they've obtained some new level of badassery since the end of their stories (which we have no way of knowing right now). This could be a possible answer to how those three are tracking Hoid despite his ability to disguise himself. -
The Stormlight Kindergarten - The Way of Kings

I wasn't sure if someone had done this already (as I looked through the forums and couldn't find anything), but I used Harakeke's handy list of Alethi glyphs taken from Thaylenah symbols (found here: http://www.17thshard.com/forum/topic/6487-thaylen-and-alethi-glyph-translation/page-3) and used them to translate part of one of Nazh's maps from Words of Radiance. Unfortunately, it offered nothing especially insightful in this case (but maybe on a later Stormlight Archive illustration). There were a few things I didn't know how to translate, though. For example, the two words near the top left look like lth kr, but I'm not sure what that's supposed to mean. The word on the banner near the bottom right looks like rthrn. The words next to the blue castle look like zttrd flns, and the blue word that shows up a few times in the water next to "danger" looks like zfwrkt. Does anyone have an idea? I think the symbol for z might be wrong, but if it happens to be, I don't know what it's supposed to be. *Harakeke also noted that the compass rose says "Urithiru" on it.

Does anyone else think that Aimia seems more 'out-of-symmetry' than everything else on the map? Maybe connected to the superstition surrounding the Aimians?

Adolin's actions at the end of WoR (spoilers)
Arachiel replied to Dain's topic in Stormlight Archive
Sadeas might end up doing some damage to the Kholin reputation after all since Adolin just murdered him and is now going to try to hide it. What's going to happen when people find out? On the other hand, I wonder what this action is going to do to Adolin emotionally. Despite the fact that he probably feels justified in killing Sadeas, he still knows it was dishonorable and wrong to do it the way he did. It'll probably make him somewhat guilty and we'll probably see him having some emotional issues in the next books what with that coupled with pretty much everyone he knows being a Radiant while he's not (I think there was a statement about that near the end of WoR, how now that Shallan's a Radiant, she basically outranks him and he seemed pretty shocked at that realization or something to that extent). Also, of course people are going to find out it was Adolin who killed Sadeas, but so far in the story, Adolin's been the golden boy of the Kholins. Now, Renarin's a Radiant, and Adolin's going to be seen as a murderer. Meanwhile, Kaladin doesn't seem to hate Shallan as much as he once did (and now they're both Radiants). I wonder if that'll be affecting Adolin in any way... -
Who else likes Sket Dance? I've only seen a couple of episodes, but it's hilarious.

Oh, no! That's sad On the other hand, for anyone who hasn't seen Angel Beats, watch it. It's fantastic, way better than I thought it'd be. Also, has anyone else seen Pandora Hearts? I just finished the anime yesterday, and it was really disappointing
-
Wait, what? I'm right in the middle of the manga right now. Do you mean the anime was cancelled before they started it up or that the manga stopped being released? D:

If you like action, have you seen Future Diary? You must watch it And I'm so hooked on Attack on Titan, too. I can't wait for season 2!
-
Oh, hey, that's cool. Yeah, most people I've met in Roanoke have lived there their whole lives, too.

Your Favorite High Fantasy Books
Arachiel replied to ProfessorMLyon's topic in Entertainment Discussion
Same here. Finished Blackveil (like right after it came out) and now I have to reread the whole series before Mirror Sight comes out because I literally forgot everything ('cept that the series has a lot of horses in it ). I do remember thinking that Blackveil was amazing though (and the freaking cliffhanger ending. Grrr.) And I loved the Belgariad, too (my first fantasy. Oh the feels). -
Series you were disappointed with...
Arachiel replied to ProfessorMLyon's topic in Entertainment Discussion
I don't remember what the series is called (I only read book #1) but the City of Bones was waaaay worse than I thought it'd be. I'd heard it was good, but meh. It went on for too long; I thought most of the characters were mean; it was dumb how the author threw in a homosexual character just to push an agenda; and it really disturbed me that However, if you liked his book, don't let my opinions turn you around. It just wasn't my thing. And yes, the Sword of Truth series as well. The Hunger Games started great (I really liked book1), and then by book 3 it was bleh. -
Kelsier is my overall fave book character honestly. After that it's probably: -Izumi Curtis (from the Fullmetal Alchemist books) -Minene Uryuu (from the Future Diary books) -Vlad Taltos (from The Adventures of Vlad Taltos series) -Hank Rearden (from Atlas Shrugged)
-
I'm wary of actually committing to reading Bleach just because it's soooo long (I stopped a while back at about volume 9). I'll never finish =/ FMA:B, though, is fantastic. Probably my favorite anime of all time. I have to say I think Brotherhood is much better than the original anime, so try to finish it if you've got the time!

Anyone else watch Future Diary (Mirai Nikki)?? I'm right in the middle of the series and I'm FREAKING out because it's insane! If you're looking for the next anime to watch, watch this one. Seriously. (however, be aware that it's pretty heavy on violence and has some nudity in it) (What's it about? Hmmm... if I had to compare it to anything, I'd say it's a tad bit like the Hunger Games but waaaay more intense and almost all the survival game competitors are crazy psychopaths. Oh, and the god of time and space, who started the competition, gave all the competitors the ability to tell the future in different ways.) Just watch it @_@

Oh, okay, I thought Ruin could only affect people with metal in them. I didn't realize he could influence people otherwise as well. I did wonder a lot about whether Kelsier had been influenced by Ruin (because it did make sense), and I assumed that when Sanderson said Kelsier wasn't spiked, that meant that he hadn't been influenced by Ruin. However, that coupled with the earring statement still doesn't make Kelsier villianous. I'm guessing that Ruin's influence on Kelsier was pretty small (with everything that had happened to Kelsier, I'm sure it didn't take much to get the ball on the whole plan rolling), and it's not like he knew the earring was Hemalurgic.

Kaladin and Kalad the Usurper (Warbreaker)
Arachiel replied to Arachiel's topic in Cosmere Discussion
haha, yeah, I knew a girl named Mairin, pronounced the same way, too. Good thing he changed it. Yeah, I wasn't aware of the name change to Kaladin. It doesn't seem very possible that Kaladin and Vasher are the same person- 17 replies
