  1. Terrifying I tell you, the knights don't stand a chance :
  2. Despite living in the UK,I had to preorder from amazon.de because I couldn't get a hold of the US Hardcover on the UK website. Received an email today saying that the book has been shipped and should be with me before the end of the month. However, I can only read it once the ebook comes out since I am at university and the book is being delivered to my home address, this is torture :'(
  3. Yeah, I don't think I want Hoid to turn into a dual blade wielding badass. I want him to remain in the background, furthering his own agenda, be a puppetmaster I'd think he would be a step up from any mortal from the Sharworlds, seeing as he has been around for a long long time and has access to magic from all over the world.
  4. Uhmm yea that just sounds wrong
  5. Nah glad its the 11th, I don't want to read too much before the book itself is out. The problem is, if it is out there, I can't stop myself from reading it
  6. Szeth won't stay dead, even if he does die in some manner in book 2. Dalinar, Shallan and Kaladin are safe as well I'd say as far as book 2 goes.
  7. Reinforces the theory that Shen wrote on the wall.
  8. Voidspren or Honourspren ? It seems like they are grooming Szeth to be Odium's champion and since Taravangian seems to be fully aware of how dangerous Szeth is, I don't see him giving up the power anytime soon. So Taravangian could be another of Odium's pawns. His genius is obviously a byproduct of the blessing given him by Nightwatcher/Cultivation but there does not necessarily have to be a spren involved in that power, so yes, him being bonded to a spren is a definite possibility but he does not necessarily have to be aware of it yet.
  9. 30 Blades between 9 highprinces is an average greater than 3. Doesn't Dalinar's camp only have 2 shardbearers ? I know some shard weapons won by Dalinar was given to the King but still it seems unlikely that the other camps would have 30 Shardbearers. Only way this works is I suppose if most of these are partial Shardbearers, ie, only Plate or Blade..
  10. Common theory and hopefully it is a by product of saying the fifth ideal. Might also explain how the humans betrayed the spren, abandoning the shard weapons and armor somehow harmed or killed the spren linked to their Nahel bonds.
  11. I think it was Shen as well but it might be a warning. I think Shen is changing but Kaladin's influence is probably rubbing off on him and he probably communicated the only way he knows how. I think the message is mend to be a warning to allow them to prepare and Odium might be blind to anything written on Stone.
  12. I suppose, but then again he was sent to kill Dalinar, and a sleeping target with no defenders would be a much easier kill. Taravangian intends to lead, so it would go against his intentions to actually warn Dalinar in some form.
  13. He mentioned some of the characters from the first half will be around but won't be the main characters, so unless the characters are the immortals or somehow gain immortality, I think it won't be similar to Mistborn, where they skip 100's of years. I'd think he skips through 10-20 years.
  14. I think at the end of the 62 days, we finally get to see a Voidbringer and why they are dangerous enough to make 60 foot Thunderclasts seem easy kills. As to who wrote it, I don't think its Szeth since he is still on his way to the shattered plains. It might end up being one of the bridgemen, Shen ?
  15. I think you are onto something here. I think further that Odium would be allowed free reign only when all 10 heralds quit, by breaking the oathpact, I think the 9 heralds became susceptible to Odium's influence. Odium is still somewhat limited since Taln remains and this might be the reason he could let them choose a champion. And leading on from this, I believe that the heralds(other than Taln) could end up as one of the big bads or atleast the agents of Odium. The prologue suggests they are getting worse, and the reason for these effects are probably linked to Gavilar triggering a desolation. Szeth is being groomed to be Odium's champion and he seems to hate himself plenty already. Chances are book 5 will end with the confrontation between Kaladin and Szeth, which Kaladin wins presumably. But the problem of Odium will still remain and he will probably only be shattered or reformed/fused with Honor(Wit's part in this series?) in Book 10.
  16. ^ No I believe he meant summoning it but somehow keeping the blade invisible. He'd still probably have to hold onto the hilt for it not to disappear.
  17. Love the fact that Dalinar revealed the fact that he wanted to refound the Knights Radiant. Hopefully a few more chapters in Kaladin reveals his abilities. Also getting all the Shardblades in Dalinar's camp sounds exciting, looking forward to the duels and hope Kaladin gets a chance to spar with Adolin Another important point was that the spren that are bonding are going against whoever rules these cities of spren. Also I think the disagreement between honorspren and cryptics might have something to do with their presence in the physical world.
  18. Another scenario : Kaladin walks in on Dalinar and Amaram talking, Dalinar notes something is wrong and jumps in between when Kaladin goes after Amaram. Szeth walks in and the three of them are forced to work in concert to fend of Szeth at which point Kaladin displays his Windrunner abilities to the astonishment of Amaram and Szeth. Kaladin spares Amaram after realising he or Dalinar would be dead without Amaram's assistance in that instance.
  19. 2015 or 2016 ? Because Fall 2016 would mean more than 24 months. I don't mind either way since we get plenty of books from Sanderson each year.
  20. They were trying to fool the assasin into thinking that the guy in Plate was indeed the guard and not the King. This was mentioned in the prologue of WoK, Unfortunately, Szeth figured it out and came back. As to the second part, if you are saying that they could have the King in full plate and have another guard in Shards alongside him, I'd imagine it is possible but they probably didn't think there would be that much of a threat in a banquet to a one person army.
  21. 1) Kaladin leading in battle. 2) Learning more about Shadesmar and the nature of Spren. 3) Darkness, the heralds and Talenel'Elin, I want to see how he differs from them and what he can do. 4) Dalinar discovering his own Radiant powers and hopefully a conversation between Jasnah,Kaladin and Dalinar. 5) I will take all the Wit/Hoid I can get Also looking forward to any Cosmere related stuff. 6) Someone actually becoming a Knights Radiant by the end of the book with fully glowing shard armour/weapon.
  22. With Renarin as the one who killed his promises/betrothal to Shallan ?
  23. All this talk about Love triangles, I'm glad no one so far has suggested Kaladin as a potential player, it would be a good way to surprise us, but they just don't fit together.
  24. Nah the flute Brandon mentions requires two hands as well to play. http://www.davidbruce.net/images/bansuri.jpg These are quite common in India, and you do blow across the top whilst holding it sideways.
  25. Loved it, looks like they are going to go for the love triangle after all. Doubt the relationship is going to be as smooth as the chapter makes out to be, I just hope they don't drag it on for too long. My prediction : Willing Shallan and Unwilling Adolin at the start, Renarin will probably take to her immediately but not make his feelings known. Shallan will notice Renarin later on just as Adolin changes his mind and thus begins the triangle I hope this isn't the case.
