  1. Then this chick comes up to me and she's all, like, "Hey, aren't you that dude?" And I'm, like, "yeah, whatever!"

  2. Mr. Croupe and Mr. Vandemar (Neverwhere). Luna Lovegood and Neville Longbottom (Harry Potter). Death/Dream/Delerium/Destruction/Desire/Despair/Destiny - in that order (Sandman). Cassidy (Preacher). Pug and Nakor (Riftwar). Kaladin and Szeth (SA). Fat Charlie Nancy and Spider (Anansi Boys). Laura and Mr. Wednesday (American Gods). For those who haven't picked up on it yet, I have a man crush on Neil Gaiman.
  3. I'd agree if you had pure water, (and yes you a right, the speed of oxidation would be relatively slow). My point though not elegantly put was that but with the copious amounts of ash present you'd have to assume a certain level dissolution of the ash which would likley promotel oxidation. If you assume that the ashmounts are related to (but not actually) volcano's then there would be a high degree of 1) acidity associated with the nearby water supplies and likely a high sulfate content in the water. Consequently, alcohol solutions would be the prime mechanism for storing metals for allomancy due to the further decreased rate of oxidation.
  4. Skaa, +1'd for your work, it is good, but I have to ask, is there a reason you didn't include the outermost vertical pairings in your vertical / horizontal extrapolation (Direction<->Truth and (Law<->Motion)?
  5. As an aside, I think I read somewhere that if a Brandon novel does not invlove earth it is part of the cosmere. Does the Infinity Blade story mention earth at all. If not, does a certain gentleman who dresses in black make an appearance anywhere?
  6. By that rationale though, the metals in water should be inert/unburnable as they would be present as ions unless Brandon did the math (who am I kidding, he most likely did the math) and the redox gradient in the stomach is such that the ions are reduced to their native metals for absorption. But I find that hard to believe because as a general rule acidic aqueaous conditions tend towards metal dissolution. Unless, the conditions in an Allomencers stomach are basic or such due to the snap. Therefore, I think that that might have been "overlooked" as a plot device. Furthermore the eating them should work that was essentilly what spook was doing stuffing handfuls of tin in his mouth and washing it down with water (also breeze and vin/kelsier at various stages of series). The metals were generally suspended in alcohol, this would be to prevent leaching (the dissolution of metal by a lixiviant (water mixed with various analytes i.e. cyanide or aqua regia for gold, acid sulfiudes for other metals in general)). This would be especially prevalent as the ash form the ashmounts would have had an impact. Chemical/Metallurgical rant complete.
  7. And THAT is the best way to hide things.
  8. To quote Wayne, "Zang!"
  9. Great minds think alike, or as my father is want to say Fools seldom differ
  10. Stunning Kirry thank you. As for scene requests Mr T. and Szeth in the "hospital"
