True that. The OG Heralds signed a contract. Nothing stopping them from getting together with a third party "New Herald" and the original contract writer be it Cultivation or Odium (getting hold of Honor might be an issue) and transferring the contract with all the associated perks. Honor blades, title, cool unifiorms and powers, eternal life, AND extended periods of torture. Sure, there might also be an issue with the original Heralds being Non Compos Mentis, but with adequate psychiatric treatment I am sure something can be worked out. I am sure Hoid knows someone.

Call me paranoid, but I just don't trust these two. (Moash and Danlan). To be clear, I'm not implying in any way shape or form that I think they are working together. I can see Moash being set up to betray Kaladin. Having said that I was blindsided (Brandon'd) by Denth and Tonk Fah. But Danlan, she just does not sit well with me. She rocks up, bats her eyelashes at Adolin, and gets a prime spying position in Team Kholin headquarters handed to her. I smells a rat.

IMO, continues strongly to book 6/7, drops off REAL badly 8-10, finishes very strongly.

I like it. If it was a fit of rage / lack of control and she stabbed/ cut him after he was dead, a Shardblade acts like a normal weapon - it cut flesh, so that would explain the blood. Reference the hunt for the Chasmfiend / general gemheart harvest. Her father used to use the soulcaster so maybe there is a familial trend towards KR ability, certainly bears up with regard to the Kholin clan. Does anyone know if there are / were anti KR's as there are anti Heralds? Maybe that is what the Ghostbloods are or will become?

I like the spren hypothesis though maybe it is not corrupt spren as such and more an infection like a virus or taint like Mashadar. WRT the black sphere, it has merit, but if it were of importance to the Parshendi (and the knew Galivar had it), wouldn't they have got Szeth to sort it out while he was on the job? Even if there is a one ring type type mysticism around it (i.e. the Parshendi didn't want it for fear of corruption) they could have provided direction to Szeth or its disposal? Randomly generated hyposthesis. It is Herald related it and acts like an amplifier getting the word of the almighty / proxy to the receiver. -
Interesting, It could suggest a blanket braodcast by Honor but only thiose tuned in can pick up the signal. Maybe middle-aged potter is cut of the same cloth as Dalinar (so to speak). Or Dalinar is fired of the same clay?

Another possibilty is Shin see so many Spren that they don't feel the need to comment on them in general (it is a POV). Like I see a lot of cars everyday but don't really mention it.

Also, if a shardbearer were use the weapon on themselves, would it do the whole soul cut thing or are they attuned to the weilder and consequently could be used to from blood pacts? I for one, am not prepared to be a guinea pig in this important science experiment. I nominate Araman to conduct teh research adn post his findings to the group. My own thoughts: 1) living is somthing that touches both the cognitive and physical planes 2) yes, pretty sure they would as they were/will be used extensively against them. see thunderclasts cousins, chasmfiends 3) possibly, as spren are mostly cognitive they might not, most spen would be pretty hard ot hit regardless. Bullseying Womp rats and all that. 4) it would hurt 5) it would hurt lots and point 6 below 6) localised death i.e. organs/muscle groups and the like 7) i think you're right with 8. 8) see 7.

If you could fuse the hilts together you could end up with a Darth Maul style shard blade(s) or staff. Which would suit Kaladin as he wouldn't have to learn how to use a sword. On the subject, does a KR HAVE to have a "sword", the Windrunner that Dalinar ran into in the vision had one. Furthermore, does the blade have to have a particular form i.e. for a given blade the hilt is a fixed proportion of the total length or can they be like plate - sizing itself to the user and Kaladin could end up with a shard polearm blade? Any WoB on the issue?

Excellent points, thanks all. BTW, the Crocodiles have kittens for teeth. Or do the kittens have crocodiles for teeth?

OK, 'pologies if this has come up elsewhere, I'm at work (don’t have real time to scroll through all posts (tag checked though)) and had a thought. I'm rereading WoK book 1 and have just finished the bit where Kaladin has teamed up with Rock and Teft to milk Knobweed. When Kaladin asks Teft for his loyalty, Teft refuses as he ALWAYS lets people down / betrays their trust. Admittedly he goes on later in the book to elaborate on his failures in Envisagers. I know it is a real stretch, and based on one line of dialog, but I think there is a real possibility Teft is a Herald. He knows things about the Heralds and while his "ignorance" could be explained by him being a junior member of the Envisigers, it could be explained through training Kaladin (i.e. not dumping it all on him at once), senility/mental instability (he would be well over 6000 years old (a significant time of which he was tortured in one way or another)) or not wanting to admit to himself what is coming (the Endstrom). As this is my first theory post an I am a delicate flower, if scorn is the rained down on me from a great height, please include kittens to soften the blow. Elwarko

So so good. Thanks Windrunner, that'll tide me over for a bit.

That all the characters are broken in some way, mentally, physically, emotionally. The prelude was interesting (why I brought the book) but my AAAAAAAAWWWWWWWW YYYYYYYEEAAHHH moment was when Szeth first did his first lashing. I must have read and reread that paragraph about five times, put the book down (for like a second) and went Woah, similar to Neo in The Matrix when he learned Kung Fu. Magic system awesome sauce. Szeth is the man,a completely gripping character. A murderer who wants to be murdered. The level of personal honour required to submit oneself so totally, it's astonishing. You could argue, that Szeth is the most honourable character in the novel (albeit not in a traditional way).

Given that the power of an Elantran is derived from proximity to Elantis vis: Not being able to hop back to Elantirs from Sarenes homeland (apologies name escapes me at the moment) and Galladon is Grumpy, can we infer that Galladon is drawing magics (assuming he has any on Roshere) from Elantris through Shadesmar?

Heralds & Knights have matching genders...
el_warko replied to dungeonfood's topic in Stormlight Archive
Apologies if this consitiutes necroing. Shardlet, you can take solace in the fact that the wavelength for amber light is ~590nm, while red ranges from 620 to 750nm (depending on the shade). You have been science nerded. Apologies for the digression, but colours got me thinking about Warbreaker. Has Brandon ever indicated/discussed (in terms of wavelength or otherwise) pure colours?- 13 replies
