The novelty of exploring the House was wearing off, and the various explorers wandered back through the winding hallways to the foyer. The first to return was Junior Junior, and he froze at the sight awaiting him. The unnamed butler lay on his back, a gaping hole revealing only emptiness where his heart had once been. Trails of blood led from the corpse to the walls, where they seemed to merge with the red-patterned wallpaper. Junior Junior shook off the horror of the room as best he could, and dashed to the foyer's entrance. But instead of the grand doorway he'd come through at the start of the night, there was just another wall, built of the same sturdy wood and stone construction that formed the rest of the House. And hanging right in the center at eye level was a portrait of the butler as he'd appeared several hours ago. The others trickled in over the next few minutes, until all nine stood around the body, muttering amongst themselves. Junior turned to face them. "One of you killed him. You must have, while the rest of us were exploring. And..." He gestured at the portrait hanging where the door had once been. "We cannot get out!" Day 1 has begun, and will end at 11 PM Eastern Time on Monday September 16. There will be an execution today! Player List:

It was nearly sunset when the small group arrived at the top of the hill where the House stood. As they approached, the front door swung silently inwards, as if to beckon the guests inside. There was a moment of hesitation, in which nobody apparently wanted to be the first to step foot inside. Then Leander shouldered someone aside and crossed the threshold, muttering something about the rest of the party. She immediately blinked against the bright light, which had seemed far dimmer from outside. An ornate chandelier hung from the ceiling in the foyer, illuminating a thick brown rug that covering the floor of a well-decorated room. Portraits lined the walls on either side, complimented by wallpaper of red lines that gave the impression of veins spread throughout the room. As the last person, Kanem, entered the House, the door swung softly shut again, barely audible. Kanem and the others turned, and a few of the explorers had concerned looks on their faces as the sight of the closed door. Those same people jumped slightly as a voice came from behind them, at the back of the foyer. "Welcome! It is good to have some guests at the House." Everyone turned back to face the speaker, a middle-aged man dressed in a sharp suit. In his hands was a intricately carved wooden box, which he held forth to them. "This may be of some aid in your exploration. But I only have the one, so choose wisely amongst yourselves who should receive it. I will seek out the one that you choose." Before anyone could question him, the butler stepped through a door and was gone. Father Rhinehardt called out and moved to the same door, peering behind into a hallway. He turned back to his companions, clutching at a symbol hanging around his neck while gesturing at the doorway. "He's gone!" That revelation startled the group into conversation, and they began to discuss what to do. While conversation flowed, each guest of the House began to feel an urge to leave the others and explore. A grand staircase led to what appeared to be an expansive upper floor, while another set of stairs sat in their shadow, heading down into a dark basement. The hallway on the ground floor into which the butler had vanished seemed equally promising. Night 0 has begun, and will end at 11PM Eastern Time on Saturday, September 14th. This cycle is RP only! This includes PMs with other players. PMs are open, but must be one-to-one, and must contain both myself and Cadcom Remember to submit to your GM PM both which floor of the house you are exploring, and who you are voting for to receive the butler's gift (reminder that players cannot self-vote for the gift). Just a heads up, I'm extending signups until 11 PM on Friday, September 13 (I'll edit the OP to reflect this). This works better for both me and for Kas, so hopefully it doesn't cause issues for anyone.

There's a fair bit of variance, but if the bad guys win, it will be 12-15 days. The village could win in as few as 3 or 6 days in some of the scenarios. (all days are RL, rather than in-game) Edit: Since the first turn of this game is RP only, you (and everyone else) should come up with a character to play as. The setting is some earth-like cosmere world (in an alternate cosmere universe that has Rithmatics as well)

Growing up, everyone told stories about the ruined house just outside town. Mostly ghost stories, but also a few tales of heroes and valor. One of your neighbors even claimed his great-great-great uncle had been the one to destroy the house. As if in opposition to that claim, one morning, instead of a ruin, a mansion stood there, as impressive as it must have been in the old stories. Nobody claimed a part in rebuilding the house, yet there it stood. So now you and some other curious folks have decided to take an evening and pay a visit to the House on the Hill. As the first member of your party reaches the top, the front gate swings open without a sound, as if to welcome you in. Welcome to the House on the Hill! This game is loosely inspired by Wyrmhero's game LG 28: The Awakening at the House on the Hill, which is a fun read if you have the time. The rules here have been condensed and modified for a smaller group, but hopefully have a similar vibe. The goal of these rules is to accommodate 8-10 players in 3 different scenarios. The village needs to discover which scenario they are in to pursue their win condition. Players can choose to explore the 3 different floors of the house to gain roles, trigger the Haunt, and gain clues about the scenario they are in. The game starts during a night turn which is RP only, with a private vote for receiving a gift from the steward of the House. The effect of the gift changes with each scenario, and the recipient is not informed which benefit they have, only that they have the gift. Also during that night, players explore the house, gaining roles and setting which scenario happens. During Day 1 forward, there is a standard execution, and from Night 1 forward, there is a kill and players can continue to explore the house to find clues about the scenario. Rules as Doc Rules as Spoiler: The IM for this game is @CadCom. Signups have begun and will last for a week, until Wednesday September 11 at 11:00 PM EST. This will be the standard rollover time as well, unless something comes up. I'm locking the thread temporarily until I can claim the first post for the player list, clarifications, etc. Quick Links: Night 0 Day 1 Night 1 Day 2 Night 2 Day 3 Night 3 Day 4 Night 4 Aftermath

Sounds good. If I don't hear from anyone else that can run something by Sunday I'll send my rules to committee then, and hopefully get signups posted shortly after.

Okay, the list for the next LG is: @Experience @The Unknown Order @Kasimir(x3) @xinoehp512 @Fifth Scholar and myself, if all of the above are busy. I'd guess that TUO wants a break from GMing, and don't know about the availability of Fifth and Exp.

Good game all! Kinda wish the engagement was a bit better from everyone (myself included), but at least on my end it's the start of the semester, so I can understand where that comes from. Special thanks to @CadCom for IMing and to everyone else for not killing me right away . Nice to see that my reads were decent, just wish I'd been able to muster enough support to get something done about them before it was too late.

Mid-Range Game 70 - Ankh You!

I'm going to be occupied much of tomorrow, so it's doubtful if I'll have a chance to change my vote. Whoever is village, please vote. Even if you vote badly, I'd rather not have us all die from not doing anything. If someone has a better idea for an elim team than Coffee/Lego or Coffee/Ash, I'm all ears. Both Coffee and Lego have been tunneling me for a while, so if both of them are village we are hosed anyways.- 144 replies

It’s 2 things; you’re not a golem, and you immediately jumped on Aet after RBM flipped village (though you seem to have backed off on that for some reason). And now that my role has been proven, I don’t think you have a coherent suspicion of me, since that was based on my role-claim being fake. I’m betting on either Coffe/Lego or Coffee/Ash as the elim team. I suppose a WGG could have been pulled on Xino as well.- 144 replies

Well, I don't have to swap my vote around anymore. Turns out I wasn't lying about being a golem after all. I'm still pretty confident in Coffee being an elim.- 144 replies

Coffee. (note this vote retraction is temporary and doesn't in any way reflect my suspicion of Coffee). The problem with this logic is that it opens up Aet as the next exe. Logically, if at least one golem is elim, then anyone who claims to be a golem is placing themselves squarely in the POE. I think an argument can be made that even 2 village golems might be more than we'd expect, so e!Aet could just have voted on me for that reason without claiming to begin with. Also, the elims aren't going to NK the golems that survive the exe (most likely). They will leave those slots unresolved so that we have to waste a second exe on them. Especially if the POE of all golem claims contains an elim, like you are proposing it does. As an experienced elim, I can tell you that you never want to use the NK on someone who there is reasonable suspicion of (unless you can't avoid it due to a dangerous role or something similar).- 144 replies

Coffee. Well, your suspicion seems based on my early claim C1, and the fact that there are 4 golem claims. The problem with that is I got RBM killed for being a golem. Why would an elim claim to have a role, then exe someone on the assumption that at least one of said role is elim? That's exactly why I think Aet (and you) are village. It's a terrible strategy, because if the plan is "exe all the golems until someone flips red", eventually I (and you and Aet) would be on the chopping block. My alternatives are Coffee/xino/Ash, like I said. I think all the golems are village (not inherently, but because all of them have tried to exe other golems based on there being too many) so that just leaves those three. I've been intermittently voting Coffee as a non-golem that keeps voting for golems. The reason I claimed C1 was so that I could justify randomly changing my votes every post. I was also hoping an elim might think I was faking the claim and take a shot at me. I'm worried that there could be a Librarian, and it's just been the case that thus far nobody has triggered 2/3 of the conditions to be a viable target.- 144 replies

Coffee. If your logic is flawed, I would say that constitutes a reason to not be suspicious. But if you're just going to tunnel on me, I'll engage with the other players and hopefully make some progress solving the game. I'd wager the elims are in xino/Coffee/Ash, so I'm fairly happy to exe anywhere in there.- 144 replies

Coffee. How do you know this for a fact? I certainly don't have any special insight into the role distribution. TUO could quite easily just be trolling us all. I played a blackout game a while back where every single villager had a kill and an extra life.- 144 replies

Araris Valerian replied to The Unknown Medallion's topic in Sanderson Elimination
Coffeecat. I said last cycle that it didn't make sense for Aeternum to be elim, and I stand by that. In particular, why would e!Aeternum claim golem last cycle while implying that at least one golem must be elim? I'm just guessing that there's an e!Librarian, and nobody has violated enough of the rules to actually get hit by the kill. That would balance out having a bunch of village golems. Could you remind me why this is a vote you feel strongly about? I don't recall you making a significant argument as to why I'm suspicious. And if you refuse to reconsider, who do you think might be my partner?- 144 replies
