If you like research, that's when a PhD comes in handy. As far as the math discussion goes, you will use some basic calculus in real life, but software does most of the heavy number crunching. Your degree is about making you a well-rounded person and integrating knowledge, skills, and abilities. Experience is great but the degree proves you are competent and can perform basic math, write properly, solve problems, and finish something.

I was ninja'd. If you look at our two posts, they have the same time stamp. Thanks for fixing it.

False knowledge - more dangerous than ignorance Betrayal never comes from your enemies. Forget the bad. Focus on good. Don't quit, when things go wrong. Our purpose is simple - to love. As you think, you shall be.

I notice the Refresh button. I'd like it is refresh automatically at least twice a day. More than twice a day or in real-time if it's not too taxing. I know I'm not exactly involved in the development, but you could consider me an end-user stakeholder. Another nice, but optional, feature would be the ability to choose different skins (or styles). Edit: looks like it's coming along great though!

I spent 14 years in the US Navy, and my degree was put on hold. My bachelors is in Nuclear Engineering Technology which I got in 2010 at the age of 36. My Masters is in Systems Engineering which I got in 2014, and I expect to get a PhD in Engineering Management in 2017.

Yeah, I get that. And I wouldn't be so bothered if PR hadn't essentially cussed out people that don't like it - especially considering that people that read his first two books had a certain expectation. It could have had great potential and still catered to those special kind of people. I feel like he just cashed in on his previous work and assumed everybody would just buy it - which I guess a lot of people did, including me. I certainly won't be at any future midnight release parties of PR's. Loved his first two books, if his third "real" book is good, I'll get it.

Haven't read the Lightning Tree and I probably won't bother. I guess I was expecting a description of how Auri came to be. I could have gotten a pretty good glimpse of a crazy person that has OCD, moves furniture around, and makes soap in a 10th of the pages though. I wasn't even rewarded with anything interesting happening after suffering through the whole book - nothing. And then Patrick Rothfuss knew this wasn't worth publishing! He told you it was not a good book in the beginning, and I went into it with low expectations - it didn't even meet those. Then, at the end of the book, he has the audacity to say <censored> those people that don't like his book! No, <censored> you Patrick Rothfuss! I'm the paying customer that won't bother to read you books anymore if you keep writing crap. When day 3 comes out, I'm waiting for the reviews before buying it. He should have made this book free. Edit: I know I sound angry, but it's not directed at you. I'm glad you enjoyed the book.

Days 1 and 2 are great! A lot more adult than BS - especially day 2. The Slow Regard of Silent Things sucked though. Day 3 will hopefully be good again.

I think "Separate but equal" is vastly different than "Different but equal" One is segregation and one is acknowledging differences. I know some people disagree, but women and men are just generally better at certain things than the other gender. This world would be pretty bad if there were only men or only woman (even ignoring the obvious reproduction problem). Our differences compliment each other nicely.

Well, I just read the manuals and figured it out. Start simple and add mods later. You can also try some YouTube videos. It's pretty hard to mess up, so if you have just a little bit of electronics experience, you should be fine.

The third book was better for me than the first two. It answers questions and ties up loose ends. I'm trying the Liveship books next per a recommendation from Peter. Sure there's romance in the books but for me it's a fantasy first. I struggle with romance books that just happen to take place in a fantasy setting - which this isn't.

Peter, I'm sorry your wife goes through this. About 4 years ago, I struggled with depression for about a month. To this day. I consider it the worst thing I've gone through - worse than any physical pain. I'm very grateful that I don't have to struggle with it constantly. I will keep her in my prayers.

I hate when the hero makes a bad decision and spend the rest of his life trying to atone for the perceived wrong he did - which wasn't really bad or evil - just a bad situation. Or when she fails to save someone from the villain and treats it like she murdered the person herself. Example: Wheel of Time spoiler: The "heroes don't kill" thing annoys me too.

I write funny six word stories. Time traveler dies tragically. 1964 - 1614 I look like dad's college roommate. Macular degeneration. Didn't see that coming. ICan'tFindTheSpaceBar. I didn't count these words... Together, I can beat dissociative identity. Jurisprudence fetishist gets off on technicalities. Helen Keller walked into a bar. Cannibals don't eat clowns. Taste funny! Well, I thought it was funny.

I write sad six word stories. Dad left. A flag came back. I still make coffee for two. For sale: Baby shoes. Never worn. <---Ernest Hemingway He bottle-feeds his wife's killer. You almost convinced me I mattered. She loved cigarettes more than life.

I write scary six word stories. Attention all passengers! Please remain calm. Such beautiful eyes. I kept them. Every second, time is killing you. "Goodnight." he cooed, knife dripping scarlet. I just saw my reflection blink. I'm still awake. Please notice, Doctor. I'm not writing this. You are. Three zombies. Two bullets. Two zombies. <---think about it Finished reading? He's in your house.

There's always the famous sentence that shows the importance of commas. It can be read two different ways depending on where the commas are and they completely change the meaning. Woman, without her, man is nothing. OR Woman without her man, is nothing. Not saying either sentence is true, of course, but it's neat how it changes meaning so much with just a comma change.
