In Dalinar's flashback of the Recreance. The KR made a very public spectacle of throwing off their shard plate and blades. They had to know what would follow (people rushing the area and killing each other for the shards). This leads me to believe that they were either coerced, being dishonorable themselves, or did it in response to a horrible atrocity done to them.

PopEye stood up and frowned in anger. Two people had just died! Granted they were both from the gangs that had been wrecking this town, but he thought there should be a trial before someone was executed - otherwise it was just murder. Then, there was the message carved into the wall that so closely mirrored his own thoughts. That was it, he was going to do something! He turned to face Willa. "Alright Willa, you want us to vote to kill people. I blame these murders on you, so you get my first vote." LOLOLOL

I wouldn't worry too much about GoT. No matter when they do this, there will be something else out there that they could be accused of copying. I do agree however that they should wait for couple more years. As others have said - at least until book 4 is out. Then, you have 4 years of TV-seasons for Brandon to write book 5. They could even just do 5 seasons (the first arc) now and the last 5 seasons (the second arc) 10-15 years from now. Kind of like they are doing for the Star Wars movies.

Hey, welcome to the forums. Chiropractic has helped me a lot with recovering from a L5-S1 discectomy, so thanks for being a part of that wonderful profession. I highly recommend Mistborn and then Warbreaker as your next Brandon Sanderson books. Elantris is pretty good too but not as good as Stormlight Archive. Also, Wheel of Time picks up steam again in Book 11, so don't give up on it. If you're an amateur author, Brandon really has a teacher's heart and has lots of stuff on his website (rough drafts of books, annotations, etc...) that you can use to learn. His book Shadows Beneath also breaks down several short stories from rough draft to completion.

I still think live-action is the way to go. My wife, for example, says anything animated is for kids (I know she's wrong, but that's what she says). I don't want this to be a kids show. I'm really thinking more along the lines of a less vulgar GoT. It really comes down to money and talent no matter what medium is used. My opinion aside, it's really up to BS and whomever pays for it. Any millionaires out there want to produce this?

PopEye sat in the back of the tavern listening to Alron's speech. It was pretty good - too bad no one was listening to it! He watched Alron walk over to the bar and order a drink then head out the door. He would need to think of a way to get the rest of the town behind Alron. Alron was the natural leader and PopEye was more than content to bask in his shadow. He had to find a way to get his message to the rest of the town. PopEye only became a politician because of his rich, noble father anyway. He'd tried running away to become a sailor and that had ended up with him almost dead and blind in one eye. Now he serves on the city council and only votes for things that require the least amount of work by him. With these riots going on, however, he might have to get off his butt and do something about it. He headed out the door several minutes behind Alron. OK, so can someone send me the link to the Google doc(s) I'm supposed to have access to? I'm new to this, so for now I'll just vote No Kill. Thanks everybody.

The fact is, if they do this, they can just have all my money, because I'll buy pretty much everything related to it.

Sometimes there's just a series that you can't get in to. I love Sci-fi and fantasy books but for me, I just could never get into The Lord of the Rings. It was just so boring. I know they are great books and the #1 best sellers of all time and all that, but I just couldn't get into them. I've seen the movies and even they didn't really peak my interest. If you've read a couple hundred pages of Wheel of Time (Book 1, you can't skip around) and you're still bored with it, move on to another series. Any of Brandon Sanderson's works are great, and if you don't like those either, maybe it's time to pick up another genre.

When I was in the Navy, we used to play DOTA all the time. Good fun!

Lol, if I'd just read her name...

Yep, they are all great, but the Syl one is the best. If I'm not thinking of a Tinkerbell look-alike, that's pretty much how I picture her.

So who's the boyfriend that we might know? Welcome to the forums. Avoid all baked goods as they might contain hemalurgical spikes!

What would you do if you had a shard for one day

Do I have to change my avatar to a pony now? -
I recommend avoiding all baked goods. I can, however, offer you a stick.

NOOOOOOooooooo! Don't eat any baked goods! They are dangerous! I hope I'm not too late... Anyway, welcome to the forums. The folks that hang around between books are a lot of fun. -
PopEye removes his eye patch for a moment so the true shock on his face can be seen by all. "Wait, I can be killed? I guess I just have to kill everybody else first." Everyone is unnerved by his gross eye drooping down the side of his face. PopEye pops it back in his head and replaces the patch. "That reminds me of the time the Skipper tried to kill me by keelhauling me, in the Black Lake, for drinking all the rum. How do you think I got this eye in the first place? I showed him though - let's just say he won't be drinking anything but Black Lake water ever again."

I love this. Each episode is 4-7 chapters long except the last one - which could be a 2-hour season finale. It just needs the budget and skill/talent to make it good. I'd donate to a Kickstarter for this. Edit: Don't forget the Prelude to the SA in Episode 1.

I'd like to participate in this, but I'm an elimination game virgin so be nice. You can call me PopEye - not only am I a sailor, but I have a patch over one eye because it "pops" out in a gross way.

Thank you! I don't know how the whole blue-blood thing started, but it always bothers me just a bit when I hear it. I was waiting for someone to mention that deoxygenated blood was blue and I'm glad you were able to provide a link with the facts.

Not foolish at all. I wasn't trying to be snarky but trying to show you the answer. I usually don't read every thread in the huge topics either.
