Quick Fix Game 3: Shadowed Secrets
navybrandt replied to Gamma Fiend's topic in Sanderson Elimination
This is my first completed elimination game, so thanks for a good experience. Aoran was innocent after all! Also, I won't be signing up for any more, but it's not because they aren't fun. It was great, but I'm starting a doctoral program and won't have time. -

Thus protecting Aoran and Joseph... I'm betting Ryfe, Aoran, and Joseph are criminals. This is fun! Suspicions everywhere! I'm probably going to be killed by the criminals tonight though. When I am, I'd put a lot of suspicion on these three - especially if Navor turns out to be a civilian. -

Snipe sat staring at the many suspects before him. Aoran, Joseph, Raze, Araris, and Navor. In truth, he didn't know what to do or who to vote for - which was troubling. He had a lot of book-smarts, but street-smarts were his biggest weakness (something he'd only admit to himself). He decided to stick with his initial gut-feeling. "It's obvious to me, that one of the guilty is Aoran! He gets my vote, though I'm sure no one else can see the obvious." Aoran continued to declare his innocence, but the truth was that it didn't matter. A criminal would declare his innocence just as strongly as anyone else. How many "innocent" men are in prisons? How many "innocent" men are hanged for their grievous crimes. They all say they're innocent. -

I also got no respons from Araris after I voted for him yesterday. -

Aoran's logic was flawed. A logical vote is a good vote for a criminal? It just seems too circular and seems very suspicious. Snipe sat there thinking for a long time. "Aoran!" Snipe called. "Can you explain yourself? You voted for Kasir - an innocent civilian." Snipe sat and waited for a response. I have a strong feeling Joseph or Raze are a criminal too (at least one if not both). Since Aoran placed suspicion on them as well as Kasir, but then voted for Kasir "for the ration." He didn't vote Day 1 for a ration, but now he does on day 2? This way, if Joseph or Raze get killed and found out to be criminals, suspicion on Aoran is lessened, but it was just a trick. Place suspicion on your fellow criminal(s) but your vote on the civilian. I know supplies are limited, but whomever has the glowsap should use it on one of these three individuals. -

Snipe looked at the dead body and became very afraid. Someone might kill him next. He was too valuable to die just yet; his mind was too great. He had a secret stash of Fenweed Sap that he was saving for emergencies, he just had to figure out when to use it and who to use it on. He wasn't even sure who he could trust or how many murderers were around him. For now, he'd keep him mouth shut and watch everyone very closely. He wished he had some Glowsap to track the criminals around him, but for now, he'd have to just keep his eyes open and his mouth shut. -

Well, I haven't been feeling well today, so I'll keep this short. I voted for Raze purely for RP purposes with nothing else much to go on. I double checked and nobody voted for him yet, so I'll vote for Araris. No real RP yet today, though for me weekends are harder as I'm spending more time with family. -

Seems to me that voting for inactives doesn't do much good as they will die of starvation anyway. We really need to see what happens after the cycle ends, but for now I'll vote Raze (sorry). -

For future reference, maybe we could start Day 1 with one ration. That way we could change our vote one time but it still wouldn't be enough food to eat if we don't post. -

Imagine this with a snob's voice. "...and that's what it's like having a superior intellect." Snipe said to those few that would listen to him. Wilim and Araris seemed to be the only ones listening. "You have no idea how hard it is just to speak at a level that you common people can even understand. My thoughts are so much higher that things that need to be explained to you just seem so obvious they don't need to be spoken to me." Snipe noticed his audience starting to turn on him and quickly changed the subject. "Well, what do you think about the murder that happened last night?" Snipe asked. "Obviously the fool boy stumbled upon something he shouldn't have, so the real question is what are we going to do about it?" Then, it dawned on him and Snipe stood up. Raising his voice so all could hear, Snipe address the inn. "May I have everyone's attention please! There is a group of murderers in this inn and these convicts pose a threat to us all. I propose we root them out and kill them before they kill us. Personally, I think Raze (will be changed to red later if I stick with this vote) should be the first to go as he mentioned something about burning my books. I open the floor to discussion." -
Hi and welcome to the forum. I recommend avoiding any offered baked goods.

Just copied and pasted this from another post of mine, so take it for what it's worth. You've read some of these I know. Cosmere Novels: You've already read Stormlight Archive, which you know had to be read in order (Way of Kings, Words of Radiance). You can read Warbreaker as a stand-alone novel. Read Szeth's last scene from WoR again before/after reading Warbreaker. Elantris should probably be read before Emperor's Soul, but it's not essential. This is Brandon's first published book and I enjoyed it a lot, though don't expect it to be as good as SA. The Mistborn series should be read in order (The Final Empire, The Well of Ascension, The Hero of Ages) followed by The Allow of Law which takes place a few hundred years after the first trilogy. Mistborn is my favorite series behind Stormlight Archive. Non-Cosmere Novels: Steelheart should be read before the new Firefight novel. The Rithmatist can be read as a stand-alone novel. I haven't read the Alcatraz or Infinity Blade books yet, so I'll have to bow to the wisdom of others there. The Wheel of Time by Robert Jordan and finished by Brandon Sanderson is another 14-book series (it's completed) that will keep you occupied for a while and is extremely good. It must be read in order and starts with The Eye of the World.

PopEye here... I support Araris's plan to reveal powers. I'm a politician and I have a power. I was thinking of how to reveal it to just someone I think is safe, but now that the TinEye is gone, there's no good way to do that, so I'll just come right out and say I'm a smoker. BTW, why was there no TinEye message today? Did the kill come before the message, or did they just not leave one?

Quick Fix Game 3: Shadowed Secrets

This is RP only, I don't really feel this way. Snipe sat reading his books. Studying... always studying. He liked being the smartest person in the room and looked down his nose at the morons around him. He wanted everybody to know it too and always corrected people and loved making them feel foolish. He didn't have any friends as a result, but who'd want to be friends with most of these people anyway. Why are people so willingly ignorant? They deserve to die in their ignorance. Can't he find just one smart person to discuss his ideas with? He looked at the people around him and their frivolous time-wasting activities - drinking, dancing, gambling, and carousing. What a waste of time! Didn't they know they could be so much more if they applied themselves to... well, anything productive. There was only one person in the room that he even slightly respected. Aoran was a doctor, which at least required a mind worthy of respect. But, there he was drinking and dancing with everyone else. Maybe he wasn't worthy of respect after all. Snipe went back to reading. Edit: Snipe isn't really that smart, I guess. Deleted the part about lighting his pipe as that broke a rule... -

I'll sign up for this one. Call me Snipe. A scholar who spends all his time in books but follows the rules to the letter, if not the spirit. I believe the stupid shall be punished. -
So, we've killed several people, but rooted out zero Kandra so far. If I was a Kandra, I'd be laughing my head off right now. I'm not, by the way, which is why I really think we should do the whole soothing plan discussed during the Day. We should really find a way to confirm people as either safe or Kandra instead of randomly choosing someone. Happy Birthday @The Only Joe

Well, obviously Words of Radiance should be your next book. I also recommend Warbreaker, the Mistborn series, and Elantris. Brandon's other books are all good too, but the ones I recommended have their own reason for being special. Let's see if you can figure it out after reading them.

So for sake of argument, his body is still around, he just lost his power. That's a lot easier to understand. Also, can the spike be passed around from player to player?
-
Well, I'm confused. So, Araris is a spike now? His body is gone, but he's a talking spike? If Araris is killed now, does the spike go away, or does he just lose the ability to talk/vote anymore? Also, can the spike be passed around from person to person? If so, does Ararus know who's in possession of him?

Welcome to the forum. What Brandon Sanderson books have you read?

Can I request a player list with each write up? It makes it easier for me to remember who everyone is. Thanks.

If this theory is true, I suspect that it was as soon as one Herald broke under torture - not all. The previous Desolations happened much more regularly (every few hundred years I think, but I don't remember the reference). This last Desolation is happening about 4500 years after the previous one. I believe that when the "weakest" Herald broke, the Desolation happened, but only Taln was being tortured this time. He might have a much stronger will and not break so "easily," which is why it took 4500 years for the Desolation to happen again. This is supported by the fact that Taln (supposedly) said he "failed" at the end of WoK.
