  1. You're right, but that is the only thing I could think of. On the other hand, you have to admit that Syl speaking with the Stormfather is not proof of her never dying in the first place. So I think we're stuck without a WoB.
  2. There probably isn't more of a source than the Stormfather saying she died. Why would he be so angry/upset if she just returned to the Cognitive Realm, essentially by his side? I think she was reformed (resurrected? rejuvenated?) as soon as Kaladin started following the Oaths again. This is not when he spoke the Third Ideal, but before, when he decided to protect Elhokar. I surmise that the Stormfather was holding her back from returning even then, but could not continue to do so once Kaladin spoke the Words.
  3. i think that the Bondsmiths' power would come from the interaction between their two surges. Note the epigraph stating that only the bondmiths could end the voidbringers in a specific manner.
  4. I would actually say that Nalan is not sane and is quite twisted. However, he does manifest surgebinding, or at least the ability to suck in stormlight: So if he doesn't have his honorblade, heralds have a natural ability to Invest themselves. I don't really have an opinion on this theory, just throwing this fact out.
  5. We know that Renarin is a Truthwatcher, which has Surges of Progression and Illumination, and that he can see the future. We also know that Shallan has visions in her drawings, presumably of the past. So sthe theory is that Renarin's predictions are the combination of his two surges.
  6. Good catch! Even if the reference wasn't intentional, the phrasing is certainly very similar. Have an upvote!
  7. I'm going to highlight your incorrect or unknown assumptions, hoser: 1. We don't know what happens to parshmen/parshendi in an everstorm, really. We don't see what happens to the Parshendi refugees, and Rlain escaped with the rest of the army before the brunt of the everstorm hit. If he had been present, perhaps during in equivalent of the Stormfather appearing, he may not have gotten a choice to switch forms. The spren might have just entered him, like it did to Eshonai when she changed her mind during her transformation. 2. We have no evidence that the parshmen can change forms. Sure, their the same species, but something is different about the parshmen. My theory is that the parshmen can't change form because the Bondsmiths ejected their spren and sealed them no they can no longer bond voluntarily. I think that the Everstorm will override that seal, though. 3. If it was possible to change the parshmen into different forms, don't you think that the Parshendi would have done so already? To free their enslaved brethren, I think they would have delayed killing Gavilar despite the fear of their gods. No, for some reason they cannot and just pity the parshmen instead.
  8. You're right, and I think someone else pointed this out earlier. There are a few more times that Chanarach is mentioned in the book. The wiki hasn't been updated by anyone yet, but you can do it!
  9. Exactly. A year in mateform? The humans employing using the parshmen would definitely notice if they changed forms for a year. And changing forms would have come up when they met the Parshendi and realized they also have different forms. So, if/when parshmen reproduce, it happens without mateform.
  10. Can they really? We know they mate, but they don't necessarily need mateform for the process. Is there a quote?
  11. I think that perhaps what Shardlet is getting at is that something interfered with Mr. T's normal daily intelligence, or perhaps just enhanced it and gave him access to outside information. After all, we're told that his level of intelligence on Diagram day is supremely unlikely. Not impossible, but the chances are so minuscule as to be inconceivable: One in a million, or thereabouts. Why is this so important? Possibly because this never should have happened in the first place. Maybe Odium or Cultivation interfered, or something else entirely.
  12. Look through this topic for an answer and a link. In short, no one we've been introduced to yet.
  13. Also consider allowing more topics per page, which will allow good discussions to stay visible.
  14. I agree, mostly. I envision the Bondsmith forcibly separated the voidspren from the listener, but they didn't have to seal it away. Perhaps they instead sealed the listener in such a way that they could not bond another spren on their own, which is what differentiates dullform from slaveform.
  15. I do not at all see the Bondsmiths as generals. Not only do the Windrunners have the leader of the Heralds, Bondsmiths are also so few in number that they can't act as consistent leaders. Perhaps the Count is right and they act as arbiters among the other orders, but I also think that they deal with a lot of Spiritual aspects of the Surges. Note the special strategy the Bondsmith in the epigraph used against the Parshendi, possibly turning them into parshmen.
  16. Since you're actually collecting everything that's being said, I would suggest keeping it but putting "all book spoilers" or similar in the title.
  17. I think there have been a lot more questions added in the past few days that compiling them here would be a good idea. My contribution, since I can't attend a signing: Who are the Oldbloods?
  18. Apparently it's an unreleased character. And lots of things should be pinned, but they would take up the whole front page.
  19. There was discussion about this in this topic. See argent's and xbauks' answers at the end of the thread in particular.
  20. Noted. I didn't remember either of those offhand, even though I've done at least 3 thorough rereads. Good catch. Non-secret Societies and secret people not in societies: Hoid: Stop Odium by any means necessary Vasher: Possibly to leave somewhere he doesn't have to use Breaths Oldbloods: Who are these guys?? Can someone ask Brandon? They have a blue tatoo on their cheek. Stormwardens: Secretive and have created their own script seen in use by Amaram. Might be connected to the Sons of Honor. Random Ardent from WoK ch. 54: Agenda unkown. Mentioned that "we" will contact Dalinar again. Vanrial: A group that preserves ancient historical records and practices. No more is known about them.
  21. More fleshed out, I like this even better. And I'll claim to have inspired you! Ha!
  22. Second list: Non-secret Societies and secret people not in societies: Hoid: Stop Odium by any means necessary Vasher: Possibly to leave somewhere he doesn't have to use Breaths Oldbloods: Who are these guys?? Can someone ask Brandon? They have a blue tatoo on their cheek. Stormwardens: Secretive and have created their own script seen in use by Amaram. Might be connected to the Sons of Honor. Anyone else?
  23. Since highstorms only seem to last a few hours at most, I think that we can trust it unless there is conflicting evidence. Edit: Argh, I can't seem to pinpoint when Dalinar's expedition starts. This is really annoying. It's the last paragraph of part four. I am blind. Now to figure out when the Weeping begins. Edit again: Found it!! My changes are in blue. Except for a few chapters that we can't find, I think it's mostly done. Maybe we can get Peter to clear those up. Now we have to make the comprehensive notes for this book.
  24. It implies that each Bondsmith partnered with a spren of which there is no duplicate. For example, there are many honorspren like Syl but only one Stormfather. Sorry if I was unclear.
