  1. Maybe Adonalsium shattered on Braize, however Braize and Roshar are somehow connected. The shattereing effected Roshar in the Physical realm (i.e. the Shattered Plains) but effected Braize in the Cognitive and Spiritual. im sure there are alot of holes in this, but that would be kind of cool.
  2. "I will always do what is right, not matter the cost to myself" Not going with the whole leadership idea really, but I think that's a good one for a Windrunner.
  3. If a person, once at a time, held and let go of every single Shard what would happen? Did Hoid take more than 1 bead of Lerasium from the Well? In White Sand what is the Magic System like on the part of the world we didn't see? (Im trying to be as non-spoilerish as I possibly can so that's why this is so vague, sorry if its still too much) How could someone with Surgebinding use their Surgebinding on another world? Would it even work since Investiture is so easy to obtain on Roshar compared to pretty-much every other Shardworld we've seen?
  4. Im not saying his trauma would be anywhere near Shallan or Kaladins level of traumaticness, but Im sure that something has happened to him that he considers traumatic or has blocked out. you have to think about how everyone reacts differently to different situations. Something could happen to me that Im 100% ok with, but the same thing might happen to another person and it seriously messes them up. Or, as Maxal pointed out, a lot of small things can add up to something large. On a side note, maybe the rock thing was a reference to Adolin becoming a Dustbringer? I could be wrong about this but for some reason Dustbringers and stones seem to go together in my mind, stone dust or something like that ??? idk Lastly I want to point out, I am not saying that if you are bonded to a Ryshadium you are destined to become a Radiant, just that you have the requisite character traits, or did at one point. You may have lost them, but we know Ryshadium are extremely loyal and once they choose you I doubt they will go back on it.
  5. And as for how broken Adolin is, we really don't know. He doesn't seem broken, but we know next to nothing of his past. He could have some traumatic experience that, like Shallan was, he is repressing.
  6. Vaspin, you have some good arguments, however one thing is the Heralds definitely are not just regular humans. They heave to have some sort of Investiture directly from a Shard or else they would not be capable of doing what they do i.e. immortality, super-speed, and who knows what else, these are all things that are only possible through some sort of magic system/investiture, which are really the same thing. A Gold compounder is immortal through Preservations Investiture, though in a more indirect way than a Returned is from Endowment. Obviously the Heralds received something directly from Honor, besides the Honorblades, that granted them their abilities.
  7. Huh, does anyone think that the fact that the Honorblads were shoved into stone is why Szeth's people find stone holy? They are the ones that have most of them so I presume they also found them.
  8. can someone post all of this, my computer wont let me see for some reason and its driving me up the wall!!!
  9. The topic Intent Meshing:the creation of magic sytems ( sorry I cant copy and paste for some reason and its buggin the rust out of me) has things on it that might be relevant, their is a WoB that's quoted their that says that some Spren are of Honor some of Cultivation some of Odium and some that are a mixture. We have never gotten confirmation that all Spren that make a KR are purely of Honor or Cultivation, so its possible that 1 or more of the Orders has a Spren bond that is partially of Odium, and I would consider any Spren that helps a KR as good.
  10. Great theory! Upvotes for both of you. The only things I immediately notice that I disagree with are it seems that you are mixing magic systems with the Spren, the Nightwatcher isn't actually cultivation, just Rosharians(?) interpretation of her given life in the form of a Spren, though re-reading your post this might be a misinterpretation. Also, just because these combinations are possible, does not mean one or another will have to happen, there are a lot of variables we know nothing about. For example, just because C+O is possible does not mean it is an absolute, maybe C, due to some deep, mathematical formula devised by Brandon became more encompassing to Roshar than the combination of C+O and the Old Magic is purely Cultivation. Yes, multiple Shards being on a planet must cause the making/influencing of Magic Systems, however just because a Shard is compatible to mix with another Shard doesn't mean it will. My reasoning behind this is that Brandon, in some of your quotes, said a Magic system will conform itself to a planets existing Magic System (not anything close to an exact quote, but hey, im lazy) so their must be certain precepts that a Magic System must meet in order to be established on a planet. You pointed out that there are 7 possible combinations, so why would not all of them come into existence unless there is some reason that they cannot do so. Whether the reason is the Planet will not allow it or that the Shards must agree or some other reason I have not the slightest idea. Personally I like this theory a lot and it could really explain a lot about whats going on in the Cosmere, I just want to put in my 2 cents because if you can expound upon it I think it would be perfect, even if it does get smashed to bits by Brandon later on.
  11. I don't see the prelude as saying they thought that leaving their Honorblades would break the Oathpact, actually the specifically noted that Taln remaining in wherever that place is should be enough to keep it going. I remember them mentioning that leaveing their Honorblades was just how it had to be, though the reason was never stated. Now some speculation as to why because an idea just popped into my head, though it contradicts with other things I have said but I know very little on whats actually going on in Roshar. Anyways, maybe they left their Honorblades because they actually do grant Surgebinding abilities, which, as Nalan believes, cause a Desolation and they didn't want to cause another one. That would put Nalans actions of killing off Surgbiners in the right, not that I agree with it, and that could be why they had to leave their Honorblades.
  12. I think both moogle and vaspin both have some very good points. Something I noticed, yes you can steal a live Shardblade with hemalurgy, however without the Bond and the Oaths of the owner/knight im pretty sure it would immediately kill the Spren or would kill the Spren soon there after.
  13. Adolnasium could have Shattered on roshar, say it Shatters and all of the Shards fly off at high speeds far away. That way none or few of them were ever actually there.
  14. I think this is because Syl digresses to her base state her base state, a windspren, but the Stromfather and the Nightwatcher both have a base state so high end that its not much of a loss, intelligence wise. im sure they gain something from the bond that they lose when they lose the Bond, but all Spren come from peoples cognitive definitions of them, an idea that they represent. The Stormfather is peoples representation of Honor so he is automatically going to have a higher level, because peoples image of him is high, just as the Nightwatcher is (atleast I believe) peoples image of Cultivation. EDIT: and Im sure they both are somehow Invested by Honor/Cultivation in some way that helps too.
  15. I could definitely see the Honorblades as being more effective for Heralds though still. think of it like shoes. Anyone can wear a shoe, regardless of size ( a dead Shardblade) a better fit is one that is your size (a Shardblade with a live Spren) but the best fit would be a shoe specifically made and molded for your foot (the Honorblades for the Heralds) it just makes sense that since the Honorblades were made for the Heralds that they can make them function better and more efficiently and can use them to their full potential. Also the Heralds are so much more than mere knights, yes they announce a Desolation and help humanity in any way they can to survive it, but they are also the foremost fighters of it. Their knowledge, experience, and skill are the very backbone of the entire defense against the voidbringers.
  16. But I doubt that the Oathpact is what grants Heralds their powers at all. regardless of whether or not it was actually shattered (I know its not but im just saying) they will still maintain their powers because of the Investiture they innately have, though they may need their Honorblades to Surgebind, they still have other powers, we just don't know what they are yet. Also, for all we know, they could have Surgebinding abilities even without their Honorblades. We think Nalen took back his blade and that is why he can Surgebind (refer back to Lifts chapter she notes that "Darkness" also has awesomeness) but it is possible that he could on his own, and the Honorblade can act as a conduit to more efficiently channel Stormlight maybe? just a guess, but who knows?
  17. Im pretty sure that all Orders have 5 Oaths, my personal feeling on Brandons "upper limit/threshold" comment is that, since he has also said a KR can have more than one Spren bond at a time, they can only swear so many Oaths no matter how many Spren they are Bonded to. For example Dalinar also gains a Dustbringer Spren (not necessarily saying this will happen) but can only swear 3 of their Oaths (assuming he has already sworn all of his Bondsmith Oaths) or he "caps out" at 10 total Oaths, something along those lines, but it is possible to be part of atleast 2 Orders at once.
  18. Thanks for sharing that link, but it makes me kind of sad, I had thought I was onto something no one had thought of/noticed.
  19. So I was just looking at the Q&A with BS and saw a quote about how many sentient beings are on Roshar. Brandon listed them and then said "from there it depends on whether or not you consider Ryshadium sentient or not" This sparked an idea in my head. So, I feel that comment hints that Ryshadium are sentient, atleast in a low level way maybe more so. We also know that Ryshadium were ridden by the KR in the past and they are extremely hard to obtain because they choose their riders and are few in number. So heres my theory, Ryshadium will only choose a rider that has potential to be a KR, which is something they can sense somehow (we have a WoB that they have some sort of investiture. That might explain how but that's just a guess) More so, they will only choose a Radiant that has a combat role in the KR, which would account for Renarin now having one (also speculation as we don't really know much about his Order, however I know he has Progression and I forget the other Surge but I feel pretty well founded in this) If all this wild speculation is correct this would show a pretty damnation high intelligence on their part to be able to correctly identify all these things. I feel like I had more to say on this but lost it all in the process of writing what I did. Let me know what you think.
  20. I just wanna point out, Brandon never said it wasn't Hoid that took it his answer, maybe intentionally, left room for it to be possible. He said Hoid dint switch out the blades and that he has no Honorblades currently. This leaves some wiggle room as far im concerned. Though ill admit it will have to be a solution that would probably be semi-convoluted at best so I don't think Brandon will do that.
  21. I see the contract as something that will be forgotten by all the main characters, and then something will happen ( Im thinking Adolin learns something from either the Diagram and Mr.T or from Naln) that causes him to have a twisted viewpoint about the Radiants and makes him decide he needs to take charge in order to "end the threat". And that's only if anything is really going to happen involving the contract. personally I see it as much more likely that Dalinar is going to end up giving over control of the House to Adolin anyway.
  22. But during that scene Kaladins bond wasn't as strong, its possible now that, since he has said the 3rd oath, distance is expanded. im not saying its a thing that can be done non-stop or for extended periods of time, but since he can summon Syl back to him at any time im guessing she can also be wherever she wants at any time instantly. She activates the gate independently then returns near him so as not to put stress on the Bond. Or he activated it and summoned her back when then the gate was no longer needed.
  23. I couldn't find the exact quote, but heres a few I found that I think make sense. This isn't exactly what I wanted but it shows the basic idea that the soul (or spirit web) can be cracked to allow Investiture inside more easily. Emphasis mine. I included this because there was talk of her having done 5 oaths, or atleast that's how it came accros to me, shes only done 4. The 1st oath and 3 truths 1. Shes afraid 2. She killed her father 3. She killed her mother
  24. A couple things I noticed. Its not required that you be broken to get a Spren bond, it just makes it easier for whatever it is that transforms someone from normal to Radiant to seep into the cracks of your spirit web. We have a WoB on that. Also we have a WoB that each Order progresses differently. Windrunners gain their blade at the 3rd oath and Lightweavers only have the 1st oath then the rest are truths. We don't yet know at what truth a Lightweaver gains their blade.
  25. So we all know Brandon has hinted that Taln isn't really Taln. this has opened a lot of theories and speculation. Personally, im willing to admit I have no idea whats going on with that, but that's not gonna stop me from my own wild theories and speculations. So heres what I think. Taln is Taln, but not entirely. Hes physically on Roshar, but the cognitive part of him is still trapped, leaking slowly into the physical realm. This could explain why he seems half crazy. When the other 9 Heralds abandoned the Oathpact, the full might of the torture was shoved upon Taln. However, the Oathpact required that 10 places be filled. In order to fill this requirement his mind split into 10 separate pieces, one for each Herald, and only the one that was with his body actually went with him directly but the other 9 pieces of his cognitive self are wandering around Roshar because they were put in the 9 places the other 9 Heralds would have gone. I'll admit this is a really out-their theory, but what if....
