  1. I don't remember it ever being stated that Bondsmiths are the heads of the Radiants, however if all Bondsmiths generally have Dalinars attitude and temperament then I could see how it could be that way. So Szeth doesn't need Dalinars acceptance/forgiveness to become a Radiant, and even if Bondsmiths are the Leaders of the Radiants, they cant tell a Spren what to do. Anyone with the right traits can attract a Spren. As for Nalan, does he believe that Surgebinding just starts a Desolation, or that it also causes one to continue? Because if its just the former then he may stop his murder of them, though if its both it will obviously continue until stopped. One more point to make, I believe that the Diagram states the reason behind why Nalan believes that Surgebinding causes Desolations. Their was an excerpt from the Diagram that was something along the lines of "makes the new Radiants discover why the old KR disbanded their Oaths" obviously this is nowhere close to exact but anyways, what better reason would they have to abandon their Oaths than to discover that Surgebinding is actually what brings about the Desolation. I mean, their all absolutely devoted to helping the people survive the Desolations, then find out they cause them. Purely speculation, but it makes sense to me.
  2. well I think we've seen multiple types of "bonding" throughout the Cosmere so maybe Brandon means that Honorblades have no Bond in the way that Bonds seem to work on Roshar, but there is some sort of bond going on.
  3. Just to be sure, we aren't sure if the "Taln" that showed up in either book was actually Taln right? Because ive never been too sure on this.
  4. I think Szeth would probably be a pretty good match for Nightblood at this point. And if you think about it we haven't seen much character development with Szeth at all because his whole story has basically been about following his consequence. Im not saying weve seen absolutely no development but very little. I think that now that Szeth isn't going to be bound by his Oathstone/the stone shamans or whatever, he'll really be able to come into his own and might be a really strong hero. In a little bit I could see him as someone with the right mental state to rein in Nightblood a little and use hime in a seriously awesome way. The second one is something I think he can already do though. At the same time I think it would be pretty bad chull if Dalinar got Nightblood. I can see how you might see them as incompatable, but their really not. Nightbloods goal is to destroy evil, not kill evil, and since all any KR really does in a loose sense is destroy evil, any KR could make good use of Nightblood. But I feel that Dalinar would be especially suited to destroy evil. Yes, he is no longer a warrior, but I can almost guarantee he will have to fight at some point. And he will influence Nightbloods perception of evil, just as Nightblood might influence his, together they would make a great combination. Dalinar leading and helping the KR in a huge way, supported by Nightbloods absolute drive to destroy evil would create a huge drive to wipe out the Voidbringers for Dalinar, making him come up with better tactics and such.
  5. Well WoB said that Nightblood would be a Shardblade on Roshar just much stronger, maybe strength has to do with how fast he can Bond. Plus Nightblood doesn't have to wait for all the Oaths to be said because they don't apply to his Bond so it can be as strong as an actual KR's bond to their Spren as opposed to the usual type of Bond a regular person has with a Shardblade.
  6. The only thing I see wrong with this theory is that we know that Dalinars visions aren't related to his Order. First off they began before he was even Bonded to the Stormfather, but secondly and what most strongly shows this is not right is the Stromfather explicitly states that he was forced to give the visions to someone though he didn't want to.
  7. How many spren are classified under God-spren? As far as I knew that was a term just on this site and was used to classify the Stormfather, the Nightwatcher, and Cusicesh. Also im not saying each Bondsmith gets different Surges just different powers, as in how each Order gets "something of their own" and re-reading what I said I see that's not very clear, sorry about that. I guess what I am trying to say is that its possible that each Bondsmith has the same Surges, but specializes in something else. Maybe a Bondsmith bonded to the Stormfather can strengthen bonds while one bonded to the Nightwatcher can break them. At the same time I could be completely wrong and all Bondsmiths may in fact be Bonded to the Stormfather.
  8. Also I'm pretty sure we have a WoB saying that all/some of the Heralds are from another planet in the Cosmere so its quite possible their Immortality stems from another magic system.
  9. While Nightblood might be a Shardblade on Roshar, I don't think a KR holding/wielding him would hear screams. The screams are cause by the dead spren, but with Nightblood, there is no dead spren; he is fully alive and aware, which makes me wonder if his consciousness counts as a spren or if his existence on Roshar will create aNightblood spren, that would be cool as all hell, but anyways, I don't think Nightblood would cause screams for a KR.
  10. Yes, every Order gains their powers from one type of spren, but it has been pointed out on several occasions about how Bondsmiths are different from all the other Orders i.e. no Shardblade, only 3 members, and powers that no one can really understand (don't have the exact quote, or even anything close to it, but the one Bondsmith decided to go into his tent on on the next day ended the war/battle). It would make sense that a God-spren is a classification of spren available to a Nahel bond, and we see this in Dalinars bondind of the Stormfather. Its not like their are3 Stromfathers out there, only the one, so sense we have proof that their can be atleast 3 Bondsmiths at one time it satnds to reason that atleast 2 more God-spren are around somewhere. Also, just because by Bonding a God-spren you become a Bondsmith doesn't mean that all Bondsmiths have the exact same powers, unlike other Oders, because they have been implied to be a closely guarded Order, it may be that they were just lumped togother as Bondsmiths due to the general type of Spren they bonded or due to the fact that their powers were similar, or even, lacking an order they fit into, they were kind of forced into the tenth Order to match the whole central ten theme on Roshar, though this last one seems very unlikely to me. This is in response to Moogles post, I can never quote things on this site for some reason.
  11. Maybe that, since each surge is linked to an essence, gem, etc., the ability to use the surge, not the blade, is when an ey color change occurs. So if the Heralds always have the ability to surgebind their eye color is consistant regardless of whether or not they have their Honorblade. Since a mortal must gain/earn the power of surgebinding they have an eye color change when they do. Don't Szeths eyes change both when hes wielding his blade and when hes surgebinding? It would explain a lot.
  12. Isnt Talns eye color normally brown, or something close to brown? So maybe there isn't anything going on there. Also, if his blade was Bonded to him, he would be able to dismiss it at will, or atleast Szeth was so it makes sense, plus we have some suggestive WoB that "Taln" isn't really "Taln" so maybe the real Herald was captured by some insane surviving member of the Envisagers maybe? Then that Envisager took his place?
  13. It makes sense to me that you only need a piece of a soul to heal/call back the rest of the soul. So if that small piece of soul is their it can act as a blueprint for the rest of it. When Kaladins spiritual connection to his arm was cut, the remaining pieces of his soul were able to recreate his arms soul. And when someone dies maybe their soul leaks out like sand through an hourglass and as long as one grain of sand (your soul) is still in the top half of the hourglass you can tip the glass over and refill the bottom half, or your body.
  14. Well Brandon did say he was against resurrections and such because of the fact that people would just decide a character dying is nothing, but he also mentioned that he would resurrect some characters, it was just a special event. I cant find the quote but I think it was in a post in the Mistborn forums. EDIT: found it. It wont let me copy and paste the actual quote but heres the page, hopefully it will let me post that. Ok it wont even let me post that but its in the Mistborn forums under Theory: Hemalurgy will bring Kelsier back about half way down the page.
  15. wouldn't it be fairly easy for him to come back, im not familiar with all the theories, facts, and such, but we know hes around because at the end of HoA Sazed said he had spoken to him and Ven and they were happy etc so his consciousness/soul is still there just no one knows how to bring him back, except probably Sazed I would assume. Plus I could definetly see him coming back as a shadowy mysterious "who in the hell is that random PoV character" until BAM he does some crazy rust and is all like, "Yeah that was me, Kelsier". And I see his coming back as him being at a HUGE disadvantage for him compared to anyone else, like if we time traveled someone from the 17th century to the 21st, with all the technological advancements that have taken place he could be killed in seconds just because he isn't aware of what the hells going on. Kind of a rant, sorry
  16. Another question, if all of the Shards on Roshar have a Spren attached to them based on human perception, then what Godspren is Odiums? Im sure this has probably been brought up but I haven't seen it, so any thoughts. I think it might be possible that the Nightwatcher is a mixed perception of Cultivation and Odium, because the fact that both a boon and a curse are bestowed seems kind of malevolent. Cultivation seems like she would help people, while Odium obviously seeds chaos. Maybe the two where combined through human perception/confusion into the Nightwatcher.
  17. ok that makes sense now and so does what Shaggai was saying about it being Odiums last resort/end game.
  18. Where does it say that the Everstorm is only part of the Last Desolation because I'm pretty sure that I read somewhere in RoD that the Everstorm would be stronger than ever before because of how long it had been since it was last released which implies that it has been released before.
  19. The only way I could see their bond being broken from not killing is if the law specifically demands that they kill whoever committed the crime.
  20. What everyone is saying makers sense, however im sure that Shardplate is made to counter, atleast to some extent, evry kind of attack that Voidbringers can through at it. This isn't to say its invincible as it obviously isn't, but just because it adapts immediately to what Stormform is throwing at it doesn't mean its specifically designed to defend against just Stormform, because any Voidbringer is a threat and to have a defense against just one is retarded. But that is a good point. Also I guess being able to shoot lightning is a pretty good point in Stormforms favor but still doesn't justify continued use of it if another form can serve a better use. And thank you Topomouse for the clarification about the Everstorm/Highstorm deal because I wasn't sure it just kinda made sense in my mind.
  21. So its my opinion that now that the Everstorm is going strong, Stormform will no longer be used. I mean its really just a form used to start the Everstorm. While there are some other practical uses such as being able to go out in a Highstorm or Everstorm without being harmed and obvious strength (Warform required a running start to leap chasms and Stormfor doesn't) now it is kind of useless. So my question is what new forms will we see? I know Stormform might still be used, but probably not a lot. So have we heard of any other Parshendi Voidforms or just Stormform? Because they will definetly play the biggest role in the next Stormlight books. Also, emi unrelated, but if all of Roshar sent their Parshmen to Shinovar wouldn't they be safe, assuming that a) The Shin would accept them all, which I don't see as a problem because they are obviously more aware of Desolations, KR, Heralds, etc. b)That that Everstorm doesn't hit Shinovar, because I know Highstorms don't, but an Everstorm blows in the opposite direction of a Highstorm so maybe Shinovar isn't protected from them. Anyways those are my random thoughts, feel free to tear them apart, accept them, or allow them to change your life as you feel necessary, however be warned that if you attempt to tear them apart I will debate with you until one party concedes defeat or I get bored.
  22. I really think the whole reason that Nalan is killing Surgebinders is because after having living through all the desolations, and then betraying the Oathpact, and then living with all of this, he came up with some convoluted ideas that add up to him killing Surgebinders. Actually, isn't it possible he could have been influenced by Odium? After all, Odium can speak into peoples minds right? So wouldn't it make sense that he would try to enlist someone powerful to do the dirty work he couldn't? Over the years Odium implants little ideas over and over and over again into Nalans mind until it actually becomes his own idea that Surgebinders have to die. Let me know what you think, but it seems plausible to me.
  23. its still not letting me quote, but anyways, I really doubt Kaladin will have any problem with what Adolin did because, regardless of the fact that Adolin committed a crime, it was what was right and that is what Syl and Kaladin care about, Klasin is not aSkybreaker and Syl is not a Highspren, so neither of them will care that a crime was committed. All they will care about is that the death os Sadeas was necessary and now many lives will be saved from it.
  24. For some reason my computer isn't letting me paste the quote I'm trying to, but Aleksiel, I disagree with you about Kaladin frowning upon what Adolin did for a couple reasons. Personally Kaladin will probably be fairly relieved that Sadeas is dead since he caused Kal so much grief. But in another since, in a way killing Sadeas was what was right to do. Sadeas was murdering and attempting to murder some of the people that will save the most lives. His plotting, had it come to fruition, would have had devastating effects on all of life on Roshar and by killing him Adolin removed a threat to all the people who live on Roshar. And about the killing a man quietly in the dark reference, that seems to be about assassination, so since Adolin didn't really assassinate Sadeas Kaladin probably wont disagree with anything Adolin did.
  25. probably the single greatest thing ive ever seen here
