  1. Anyone else read any of Joe Abercrombie's First Law Trilogy? It starts with "The Blade Itself" and I gotta say, for any of those "gritty, morally grey, violent fantasy fans. these books are an absolutely fantastic read. The world seems a little plain at first, but the real story here is the characters. Abercrombie just writes amazing internal narrative, with each different characrer having a unique feel when reading their chapters. It really is quite wonderful. Would love to talk about these books with you guys.
  2. This thread is just too much fun. I really do love WoT time. But with that said... If SA were like WoT, then Adolin will get a group of badass killer women as bodyguards who will constantly make fun of him when he keeps a mental list of all of them who died, whilst calling him a "stubborn wool-headed sheepherder".
  3. Favorite Sanderson book? That's a toughie. I'd have to say Way of Kings. The worldbuilding he manages is just epic. The world is so unique, with the crazy weather, all the vivid imagery with the spren, and even creating a whole ecosystem that survives and thrives under such harsh conditions. It just takes the cake in Epic Fantasy. Definitely can't wait to read more. Kaladin is just such a great character, there have been very few people in books I've rooted for as hard as him. Edit: also changed my avatar pic and changed my name. In case of any confusion, haha.
  4. Not sure if theres another place for this thread, but good place as any I figure. Now I KNOW there has to be quite a few MTG players on these boards. Discuss? (I havent played in a year or two, but I still have my decks constructed, and it's just fun to keep up on)
  5. A lot of King books (dark Tower and affiliated works) and then of course the Wheel of Time. Need to save up some money then I'll pick up Mistborn and start collecting Stormlight Archive as they come out. Edit: just realized I'm still missing my 5 Song of Ice and Fire books... I need to get those back soon. Almost time for a reread.
  6. Girl who plays Arya Stark on Game of Thrones (Macie Williams think?) When shes a lil older she could totally pull VIn off.
  7. I think the returned are Endownments way of subtely (or not subtely) nudging the chain of events in the world towards good. He gives certain people the chance to come back if they're cognitive, or maybe just brings them back for a certain purpose. Lightsong needed to come back to heal Susebron, so maybe only ifants only return occaisonally when they'll need a baby for a new God King. I mean, they can't just have fresh Returned infants laying around all the time right? I think we'll need more examples of people who are returned, what they've done, and what they're "supposed" to do for more definitive answers.
  8. Pretty much any scene with Lightsong. He's fantastically hilarious. SPOILER:(Maybe) My particular favorite is when his head priest finally loses his temper at him and yells at him and tells him who he was. Priceless,
  9. Dalinar will have some great victory and 20 different rumours will spread and Kaladin will hear the most innacurate one and hate Dalinar for 5 books. The Parshendi will fight over a puddle and be afraid to cross water. And best one I just thought of: If Stormlight Archive were like the Wheel of Time.... Brandon Sanderson would have to finish it!
  10. I fit into the cliche category of reading Wheel of time and just switching to Sanderson as he finished the series. Was so impressed with the ending, I immediately went to Mistborn trilogy and have read all of Sanderson's novels since (except for the Alcatraz series)
  11. Howdy all. Just signed up for the forum, been an occaisonal glancer here every now and then, decided to start participating. I'm about to start the Emperor's Soul and that'll be the last Sanderson book I haven't read (minus the Alcatraz books) so I'm pretty caught up with the whole cosmere situation, and just starting to cope the immensity of all the projects Sanderson is undertaking. I'm looking forward to sharing my ideas and just chatting with all of you.
