  1. When Ruin was killed by Vin, and his body was described, it struck me odd that pretty much the only description we have of him is that he had Red. I was wondering if anyone thought of reasons for why this was significant enough to be basically the only descriptor of the guy other then he was male?
  2. During my re-listen of the mistborn series I thought about the fight between Vin and the Steel Inquisitors (when Marsh ripped the earring out of Vin's ear and Vin pulled in all the mist)... Everything was being used... How could you 'visualize' so many powers being used at once without overload? I was thinking of how different a screenplay is from a book, and then was thinking how these three systems could be depicted on the screen without a narrative in the background explaining how the system works? Iron and Steel are of course the easiest.. The blue lines.. Atium and it's alloy are obvious too... But how would you show a thug burning pewter? How would you show Breeze manipulating people? The Lord Ruler's compounding... So I thought it would be an interesting discussion (and forgive me if this has been done before) on how a TV Series or Movie would handle Metallic Arts... I really wanna see Weta (LotR, Avatar Visual Effects Studio) or ILM (Star Wars films, etc) do a Steel Inquisitor.
  3. Peter, can you ask him to come back? We're a big state... And.. Orlando is in the middle
  4. Is snapping something that in one way or the other occurs realm wide and not just on Scanrial? Allomancy: Been spelled out for us Feruchemy: Not enough info, it existed before the first ascension. Hemalurgy: The snap is external, occurs in the person stealing the powers from, by killing them (even though you don't have to kill them, you have to 'snap' them) I was thinking of this during my re-read of WoK. Kalinar seems to snap when his brother gets sent to the army... And when his brother gets killed. And when he's in the high storm with Sel. And um.. When he's defending Dalinar. Of course only the last one was invested by stormlight. Awakening can be forced into the category as a snap if you start reading warbreaker right after getting hit in the head with a large brick and every time you start to clear up, get hit again. Shaod is a much easier to swallow as a 'snap' then awakening is. I need to reread Elantris. Forgive me if this has been discussed before.
  5. I think what would end up happening is Nightblood would eventually get depressed enough by Szeth that it would think that it is evil. So then what.. Szeth can't kill himself, nor can he destroy Nightblood, because it might destroy the oathstone. Nightblood might be able to suicide.
  6. I'm So Meta, Even This Acronym.
  7. Well, that's what theories are.. Theories.
  8. I think the reason SteelHeart's motiviation for that was for everyone to be afraid of him. Something's missing here too, because if he was spying on them, he knew that they had not figured out his weakness. I wonder if FireFight is going to be a true sequel, or if it's going to be a parallel book about the same part of the story from her point of view, ala Bean in Ender's Shadow.
  9. I'm suggesting that maybe he's the opposite of a gifter.. A taker... Indian giver? And that it shares the same immunity to the loss of a moral compass as the recipient of a power from a gifter does. Look at battery guy (I'm bad with names),. He does nothing BUT gift, and he's driven around in the trunk of a car. His moral compass seemed fine. There's something there. I feel it in my bones. I might be wrong about the what, but the clues are there.
  10. You are correct, it's Asperger I'm speaking of. Look at Sanderson's Third Law of Magic. Expand on what you have........ I dunno. To me there's something more. Too many odd coincidences.
  11. And if Hoid gave the blade his bead? Nightblood is alive. Weeee
  12. While i know it's not in the cosmere, it sure seems like a shard. Maybe it's just his writing style. Think mistborn. 3 facets of the same magic system. One explained in each book. But all of them existed for all three books. Think how minor Vins earring was in the first book. We can't assume that we know everything about calamity. I think it's effecting everyone. We just know about epics.
  13. He's Autistic. I'm telling ya! http://m.aut.sagepub.com/content/14/1/29.abstract
  14. I think David is an epic. However, I also think he is autistic. The social aqkwardness... The constant misuse of metaphors. I think he's an epic, I think his power is either mental in nature (Think how fast he figured out why they called Prof, Prof. If it's not Metal, I think he has the ability to us the powers of other people around him. I don't think Megan(Firefight) hid him when they were searching for him, I think he used her power unconsciously. I also think he 'borrowed' megans power when they used the dowser, because subconsiously he would never expect the dowser to show anything differernt. That's why he picked up the power that the professor gave him so fast.. Because it was not only transferred to him, but he took it.. or copied it.. And like giving powers, taking powers does not change your mental state. Look up autism and how they misuse metaphors. It's JUST like david did constantly throught the book. Thoughts?
  15. I predict the next book is going to be based on the genetics and mitochondria stolen from the Epics. While we know why Megan could not have abilities transferred to her, what we DON'T know is why some people take to the transfer better than others, and why David picked it up so fast, as was as good at it as he was. My crackpot theory is Calamity's weakness will be a brick filled with porridge. That was pretty funny.
  16. Oh, do yourself a favor. Get Way of Kings or a Mistborn book on audio book and give it a try if you've never done an audiobook. I promise you wont be disappointed. Steelheart's narrator is top notch too.
  17. I was curious how people were injesting their brandon? Personally, I'm an audiobook fanatic. I have 120 books in my audible library.
  18. I've been looking for a book signing in Florida for the last 2 WoT books, and now SteelHeart, and he's skipped florida. Does anyone recall if he's made it down here? Being in Orlando (The middle of the state) I could get to just about anywhere in 4 hours.. But Atlanta is a 10 hour drive and that's a bit far to drive! Thanks.
  19. I promised myself I wouldnt' write in the introduce myself until I've read every Brandon book.. I had been putting off Warbreaker for a while, and finally got to it (waiting for Steelheart to come out). I am an avid audiobook listener, and listen while I work. I've listened to Way of Kings 3 times, all 4 Mistborn books twice, and marathoned the Wheel of Time an astonishing 3 times (according to the wikipedia, it's 461.5 hours long). I'm obssesed with Hoid, Lerasium, and, and the Cosmere. What I love about Brandon's books is that they are written on several different levels. A light reading level, where no prior knowledge is required. And obsessed fan level, who's read all is books.. And then a devout fan level, who loves to theorize on the cosmere and is always looking for the hidden clues. Anyway, that's me. Cheers!
  20. If I really wanted to be be cruel, I think I would embed Szeth's oathstone into Nightbloods hilt, and have it tell Szeth what to do. Now that would give me nightmares. I think it would make a fun short story to write.
  21. About halfway through the book so far, but even though it's listed in the forums as a non cosmere work, it seems steelheart's 'Calamity' seems to fit the description of a Shard of Adonalsium.
  22. Shard of Pasta.
  23. Well deserved!
  24. Not so sure about the Vault theory. He destroyed the entire city to hide the fact that someone harmed him. I think it's more emotion based, like the vulnerability of the Epic that David and the Woman killed (Physical Attraction). My thought was someone trying to help him in some way was how he was hurt. Steelheart shows strength through brutality and destroy all weakness. Nobody would dare try and 'help him' for fear of insulting him. So, I guess this is my second Brandon based theory.
