  1. In response to your response to theory two, I have: Pure Abject Speculation #1: Preservation knew Vin would give up the power of the Well, and mortally wounded Elend for two purposes. One, to make him a Mistborn, and Two, toshow he is the "goog guy". If this is true, this makes my theory all the more realistic. However, this is merely pure speculation.
  2. Disclaimer: The following is a theory on the Allomantic effects of Lerasium. The author realizes that this may / may not be a highly controversial topic, and realizes that many people will disagree with this theory. That being said, the author kindly requests that all dissenters refrain from posting unless they have a very good argument. Remember in the end of WoA when Preservation (in Mist Spirit Mode [MSM]) mortally wounded Elend in an effort to get Vin to take the power of the Well of Ascension for herself? Theory #1: Preservation knew that in the event Vin gave up the power of the Well of Ages, she would give Elend the Lerasium Preservation can see the future, so this is still in the realm of possibility. Which may seem insignificant by itself, That is why I have theory two, which makes sense given Preservation's desire to preserve, and Elend's "innate goodness" Theory #2: Under no circumstances (save ones with world changing consequences) would Preservation want Elend to die Which, again is also not that important. But now we bring in the facts: Fact #1: Elend was mortally wounded by the Mist Spirit Therefore, Preservation only mortally wounded Elend because he knew that Elend would survive, and Elend would imbibe Lerasium. Theory #3: When burning Lerasium, by default one triggers the intended purpose, as one will become a Mistborn by burning the smallest amount, so the rest of the burn must have the actual power of Lerasium used. Therefore: Theory #4: Lerasium allows one to survive Near Death Experiences. And it makes sense! Preservation's power preserves you!
  3. Read it is the 50 year collection, think the story is called "dirty pool" About a professor creating a zero-G field over a pool table. Hope I didn't mortally offend you.
  4. @Kurkistan: I take it you never read Issac Asimov? He has a short story discussing this. Can't remember the title, I'll update this later.
  5. That's why you do it in a vacuum.
  6. Duralumin does not up the power. Evidence; Vin gets drugged in HoA
  7. Hobey-ho. Sounds like some poetic irony to me.
  8. It is true that if an object is accelerated faster, the speed will be faster. However, let's take this one step further; suppose you had someone Nicrobursting a Slider while burning Bendalloy would be creating a speed-bubble with effectively no time passing on the outside. Thus any acceleration would happen during a frozen moment in time. On the outside world, since their is no way to measure the amount of time the acceleration happened, as it happened in a frozen moment of time, the acceleration could be said to be infinite. Therefore (drumroll please), we have yet another FTL theory!
  9. Duralumin doesn't enhance the power of metal, it accelerates the burn. The thing Feruchemy has over Mistborn is that they can draw all their power at once, whereas a Mistborn can't. Duralumin then gives Mistborn the ability to burn quicker, essentially burning mor power at once. A Duralumin Gnat burning Lerasium would just become a Mistborn faster.
  10. So, my idea was, once you go FTL, you can't physically move in our three-dimensioned universe. So the logical direction is through the fourth dimension. (Disclaimer: read a lot of Madeleine L'Engle. May have slightly influenced me.). The reason this doesn't happen in Star Wars, or with the "Bendalloy FTL theories" is because you aren't physically exceeding the speed of light, you are merely alternatively moving faster than it with tricks.
  11. Right, you definitely wouldn't be able to accelerate to said speed, but a massive speed dump might work. Once you go FTL, you can just travel in the 4th dimension of time, and ignore the three-dimensional barriers of "friction", "human limitations", etc. (Yes, I most likely have no idea whether you can do this. This is why Mistborn is in the "fiction section") I have reiterated some points I made beforehand, apologies.
  12. I just thought Inquisitors left scars as part of the whole "intimidation" effect, and Sazed didn't heal the scar because it required unnecessary levels of stored healing.
  13. The second trilogy has a rogue Mistborn?
  14. This is Feruchemy we're dealing with, not traditional physics. A human body can't stand the kind of weight that Wax is so fond of dumping on it. Sazed says that Skimmers automatically have a corrected structure to maintain their increase bulk (and this, by the way, would explain why Feruchemy has the Law Of Diminishing returns. Part of the power goes to enabling your body to maintain the Tapped power.) It is therefore quite reasonable that this applies to Steelrunning as well, giving you a a better "running structure".
  15. Also, there is something called "magic" at work here. Believe it or not, people can't actually get superpowers from eating metal. It doesn't matter how "logical" or "scientifically sound" your disproofs are, because we are in a zone that requires a suspension of belief. (Yes Brandon's magic systems are more rational than anyone else's. But it's still magic.) So what if a compounder need 1000 years? He's got Atium. Also, once you go FTL, you don't have to move through the traditional methods of three-dimension movement. (based of theories by H. G. Wells)
  16. Didn't mean to intrude on your arguments, but we're addressing different points here. I am trying to create time travel, whereas you are trying to create the abilities for interaction in the Physical Realm without traveling to Shadesmar.
  17. No, what he's saying is that Hoid has every Innate Investiture, so there is a possibility that he awoken the Feruchemical aspect of it. This awakening might need to be external factors, like Mistborn; or can just happen, like Returning, or the Shaod.
  18. But Steelrunning's plausible?
  19. I read alot of fantasy books. Alot. Very few things can actually surprise. I cheer on authors that kill off main characters. That being said:
  20. Brandon never toys. Ever. (Okay, maybe not. But still, this is Word of Brandon.)
  21. You guys are taking this for granted. Once that Steelpush, or Ironpull leaves the bubble, it assumes the same speed as everything outside the bubble. It works, but there really isn't that big of a difference from regularly Push/Pulling.
  22. Worldhopping isn't FTL, it's dimensional travel. Possibly in the final Mistborn trilogy such a thing might occur in the Physical Realm, but it hasn't yet. Answers: a ) You're a compounder, or better still a full Twinborn, with Hemalurgic powerups. Compounders can exponentially grow their reserves, and the Hemalurgic spikes give you superburning powers. b )Who needs a runway? There is no instance that a Steelrunner needs room to accelarate c )The reserve need not be big. A moment of FTL is good enough for time travel. Also, how would you use the Metallic Arts to achieve FTL?
  23. That therefore would allow Steelrunners (compounders) to travel back in time itself! Do you realize the implications of this?
  24. I spoke with a friend about this, and he says he asked Brandon about dilution of Mistborns in AoL. His question was "There were still full Mistborns at the end of HoA, and people claim to be descended in AoL?" Brandon: "They claim to be descended." I don't have a source besides this friend of mine.
