    Ketek's spren don't see anything, or don't seem to at least. Ketek's eyes widen for half a second. Westward staggers up to his feet. "What is happening? Why was I on the floor?" He points at Grub and his spren. "Who are they?" Aesthetic pauses. "That wasn't stormlight. It was plasma."

    So the reason sacrifice is not common is because a great deal of signs and wonders related to how the sacrifice is done do not exist anymore (I.e. the temple, altar, or signs denoting that sacrifice is required). Yom kippur still is devoted to repentance.
