Ambrosius Seeing that the match, was quite hidden by steam, Ambro decided to check out the room where he was to fight. Quickly exiting the Waterfall room, Ambro ran into another person, who was wearing a slightly wrinkled green tunic and a chain around his leg. "Move it or lose it, idiot." Ambro pushed around the person and jogged to the Glyph Cavern. In his rush to get there, Ambro thought he saw Jay'el, but dismissed it as not important. Entering the Glyph Cavern, Ambro looked around for threats. Seeing none, he settled in a corner to watch the current match.

wet but not falling I'm assuming we need to make a statement in the proper format and you will say if it is true or not. Correct me if I am wrong. (Then, I will edit this post)

Jack Mckinney "A debt? Too bad." Jack shrugs. He doesn't really care. "Lets go to the Waterfall Cavern then." Ooh. Water control. I wonder if he is like my airbender form... Jack shifts back into his Copper chemist form. Then starts jogging to the Waterfall Cavern. Over his shoulder Jack says, "Well. Come on."

No, its the spikes you gotta worry about Hello, RathHood. Welcome to 17th Shard.

Jack Mckinney "Hi Jay!" jack looks around, then leans in close and whispers, "Yep. Copper Chemist obviously." Jack takes a step back and switches to his baseline. "I was memorizing this match, though it is harder to memorize when you can't see any obvious effects." Jack nods at the brass Chemist. "When's your match? I am 26th."

Jack Mckinney Memorizing the fire mage's attacks in the match in the Mist Room using his Copper Chemist form, Jack notices a newcomer. Ooh look! Its one of the new guys. Lets go talk to him. Oh, good Idea! Jack starts walking to the newcomer, putting down his left leg harder than his right to make the chain jingle. Coming up to the man, Jack speaks enthusiastically, "Hello! Your one of the new arrivals. I saw you come here last night. Whats your name? Who do you think is going to win this? I think its the Chemist. My name is Jack...I think." jack smiles and waits for a response. Jumping from one foot to the other. (The chemist outfit is a simple green tunic and brown shorts, but with a light copper chain about two feet long wrapped around and tied to the left leg.)

Just to play a little devils advocate here, but when Vin burned Gold didn't she suddenly get the feeling of looking at herself through both pairs of eyes. I don't have my copy on hand, but I remember reading that the alternate past self of Vin (as a noble) was seeing the thief Vin while the thief Vin was seeing the alternate past self Vin. EDIT: spelling EDIT EDIT: I missed a misspell

It also didn't have all the pretty pictures it has now (I beleive the icons were Aon Omi), and the forums were less varied than they are now.

I heard of them, haven't read them though.

I always assumed that the theory included the discussion as part of it, Not just the original post.

Congratulations to the New 17S Searchbot Mascots!

Nope. Its chaos now. -
Hrm, I am trying to decide if jack would do such a thing. He might, given his personality... Please make the penalties light, since it would suck losing a character right away, but you have to admit, this would make a really fun entrance, and piss off River. EDIT: I decided against this. Jack will introduce himself a normal way.

I have been looking over this and feel this has the potential to turn into something very interesting. However, I think this system would work better as (Silus pointed out this before) a full RPG. I have some general comments. I feel that the Hemalurgists are too powerful. Each time they win in combat they get stronger, much faster than allomancers (or feruchemists, but they don't have it as bad). Simply making low EXP costs won't work, since that would only cause all characters to explode in power. I suggest that you rework the hemalurgists to only get spikes through a ritual killing or something. I suggest looking into the (New) World of Darkness system (by White Wolf) for general mechanics help, since your system is similar. flaring could be working in as spending two points for every +1 beyond the limit up to double the limit. That way it makes flaring useful, but not something that will be constantly used. These are my comments for if you make this more full RPG: include skills, such as lockpicking, acrobatics, swimming, and the like. This adds variety and gives the players something to do while not in combat. If your not going to include story, at least include setting. Include a way that makes the character more than just a set of numbers. This is a major reason why RPGs that are good stories with bad mechanics tend to be better than RPGs with great mechanics but little or no story. Players are more attached to "John the Hero who saved the town from black god sword cultists" than "John, the guy with 18 strength" A random element makes contests much more fun. A player with a weak character is more likely to play if he knows that there is that slim chance that he can triumph over the opponent with the awesome stats. OTOH, the player with the awesome stats will always know in the back of his mind that there is the possibility of failure. This may seem like a bad idea, but it is much better than getting bored with having a strong character. After all, why play a character that you know will never lose. One word of caution though, Don't go overboard; that weak character should still more than likely lose if the differences between stats are great. Remember that it is the players and their characters that drive the game. The DM simply provides the carrot to draw the players along and the framework that the characters exist within. If for some reason you feel that I am criticizing you, I am not. I simply don't want to let a potentially good RPG go to waste. I can be easily contacted with this email address if you would like to ask me some questions or discuss some points with me: [email protected]

I was going to post this several days ago but my sister has been hogging the computer. Would a spectator from the crowd be punished for interfering in a match, or would it be allowed under the "unpredictability of real combat". for example, would a certain wind user be punished for blowing away all the steam that is currently blocking a certain match?
-
Most definitely. It also makes even more sense than most keteks.
-
Yes! Now I just need to buy it. Then the only step left is to find players.
-
Regardless, that was an interesting article. I will have to read the other ones later.
