Perhaps one of the best parts of Sanderson's stories is trying to figure out how his amazing magic systems work, but why limit yourself to only his books? Here you can present your theories on spheretech, both as serious out-of-game theories, and comedic (or serious if you must) in-game theories made by sphere-theorists. Here are two of my In-Game theories: The Elder-Arms Theory This theory states that formspheres you used by ancient armies Common spheres were built for grunts. Around private to sergeant rank. Each type of common sphere fulfilled a tactical and/or strategic role Other uncommon or rare formspheres were built for higher ranked officers. These spheres also fulfilled tactical or strategic roles and The Counter Elder-Arms Theory This theory states that the Elder-Arms Theory is false. The counter arguments are: There are not enough spheremounts to equip an entire army The clothing changes caused by the formspheres are not uniform The proportion uncommon to common formspheres is too high to indicate strictly officer use The evolution mechanic can change a common sphere into an uncommon sphere and vise-versa. Irregardless of any currently given military rank. Certain spheres do not seem to have any tactical or strategic role in combat operations, such as an Iron Chemist. Enjoy!

Ambrosius Ambro rises, eyes still watering from the flash. Note to self. If something glows, don't look at it directly. Ambro walks past the still crawling figure of Thomas. Pushing down a slight twinge of nervousness, Ambro arrives at the start position. It would be no fun using Geass. I should leave that for later. Ambro prepares to shift into Atium Misting. I never had time to scout out my opponent. So many mistakes. Ambro gets into a ready stance. I hope the next one doesn't kill me. Jack Mckinney "That hurt!" Despite jacks words, his tone indicates enjoyment. Watching his conversation partner walk away, Jack turns to the other guy. "Shame you missed most of the match. The guy with the sword was using Warrior. Though with a few modifications. Probably a mount ability." Jack begins moving to the bridge, to await Jay. "Come, come!" he says over his shoulder.

I would, however, like to point out that Ambro is the one who will inevitably die of karmic retribution (most likely being kicked by a giant puppy), not Jack. Jack is the nice one. I guess its the influence of Brandon Sanderson, as well as the general theories board, but recently I have been reading books with magic systems and wondering why it works like that, or if I do 'this' then does 'that' happen? It also slightly bugs me, when, in the books, everyone takes whatever magic they have for granted and don't...do something about it. If you understand my meaning. It makes the magic feel more 'sciencey' than mystical if people research and theorize and experiment. I also like the idea of starting a theory topic. *goes to do that*

Death by Lolcats raining from the heavens to spread poor grammar and syntax throughout the world, and cause the population of cat ladies to increase (though that is a side effect).

Ambrosius He is STILL talking. He is STILL talking. He is STILL talking. He is STILL talking. He is STILL talking. He is STILL talking. He is STILL talking. He is STILL talking. He is STILL talking. He is STILL talking. He is STILL talking. He is STILL talking. He is STILL talking. He is STILL talking. He is STILL talking. "Not to be rude, but you speak of interesting matters. You wouldn't mind if one more were to join your conversation as well, would you?" He is STI-what? Ambro had been partially asleep with his eyes open. Fighting boredom induced fatigue Ambro turned his head. I must be slipping, that is yet another person who snuck up on me. Ambro speaks, "Sure why not," then looks at the arena as Jay's gun starts to glow. Jack Mckinney "...Warrior, Gunner, Thief, Black and White Mages, Summoner, Spectre, Misting and Chemist are all the most common formspheres. Several theorists who support the theory that formspheres were originally designed for ancient armies, called the Elder-Arms Theory, state that these forms were created for low ranked grunts and other unique formspheres belonged to officers. Now, the theorists who support the Counter-Elder-Arms Theory-," Jack pauses to breath, as he hadn't for the last several sentences. "Not to be rude, but you speak of interesting matters. You wouldn't mind if one more were to join your conversation as well, would you?" "-state that there aren't enough spheremounts to equip an entire army, therefore the Elder-Arms Theory is false. Oh, Hi. My name is Jack. You can listen if you want, the more the merrier! I had training as a Defender. Hey, look at that!" Jack indicates Jay's gun as it starts to glow.

A Tale of Investigations, Intrigue, and Irritating Princes
Emeralis00 replied to KChan's topic in Eternal Conflux
Following silently behind Kierra, Krh'rhl was thinking. I seem to have caused her much distress. Krh'rhl had no chance to help fix the jam he had caused. If I remember correctly, Xaneth give gifts by way of apology...or was it courting. These Xaneth never make sense. I would rather not stoop so low, but peaceable traveling companions are better than bitter ones. Krh'rhl sank deeper into the ground. Past the basements of the surrounding buildings. Past ruins of older cities, their wood long since petrified. Past even the rock which they stood on. There Krh'rhl found what he was looking for. With a quick aesthetic change to it, Krh'rhl returned to the surface. The guards where quite startled by his appearance. This seems to happen a lot. I simply do not belong here. "I am here to speak with your leader regarding past events. One has come before me, a Xaneth by the name of Kierra, I need to speak with her as well" Krh'rhl arrived at the room that the Xaneth leading Krh'rhl indicated. Entering the room, Krh'rhl noticed another Xaneth, the one he had encountered as he entered the inn. However, Krh'rhl had a more pressing concern with Kierra. Walking to Kierra, Krh'rhl laid an inscribed gem at her feet, gave a bow in a way he had seem some earlier Xaneth do, then retreated to a corner of the room and attempted to look very sorry. The stone reads: Please accept this gift as an apology. Your kind gesture has been noted. -
I thought it would be a given. Also, I thought Silus was going to introduce Jack, but he didn't. So I did and then there was Player to Player interaction and I picked a number. Silus did chew my head off so I figured it was okay.

Its an... acquired characteristic.
-
yeah. That makes sense.

I was trying to illustrate that Krh'rhl really didn't want to be there, and the surprise of a sudden drop in noise caused him to panic. You say that he 'tunneled', but I thought Earthshells could merge with rock? Also, Krh'rhl may try to fix the pileup, and yes people will be mad, but being an Earthshell I fear that he would only cause more of a pileup.

you never gave Jack a number.

access to 17th shard begins at around 6:15 for me. (computer limits) so thats why it took 6 hours. as for the enthusiasm, not many people have joined the nexus. new people are a welcome sight.(posted from 3DS)
-
oops sorry. I edited the post to fix that. Also, just so you know, that wasn't the reaction of a normal Earthshell. It has to do with Krh'rhl's "blindness". Quick question though while on the subject. How much control do players have with their surroundings?
-
I'm pretty sure Kierra wasn't expecting that Kchan.

A Tale of Investigations, Intrigue, and Irritating Princes
Emeralis00 replied to KChan's topic in Eternal Conflux
Krh'rhl felt the pull of leyht, then the constant roaring barrage of noise dropped to a murmur. Krh'rhl froze at the sudden loss of sound. Panicking and blinded, Krh'rhl nearly hit a passing Xaneth. No. I can't hear! I can't See! The xaneth, surprised by the encounter slipped, causing several more people to fall over the unfortunate victim. Several falling Xaneth bumped into Krh'rhl. Threat, threat! Must escape! With a loud shriek that sounded like several rocks breaking Krh'rhl channeled, then merged with the rock road. A short time later, Krh'rhl spoke from underneath the road, "It would be best if I travel this way for now." -

First of all, 18 seconds in = epicness. The only problem that ins't mentioned so far that I see is the brief flash of someone pointing a gun.

Zane's spike was hemalurgically charged. That was why he had such powerful steel pushes.
