I think Brandon has addressed this. In a WoB (I'm new to the shard and don't know how to add WoBs, sorry!) he stated that it would be possible for a person, through their self-image, to change from a human into, say, a listener.

This may be a little off-topic, but who would make a good composer for the score of the film? I would tend to favor maybe Hans Zimmer. Possibly a John Powell and James Newton Howard collaboration?

One thing that wouldn't make sense if Iron and Steel were magnet-based would be that Pushes and Pulls can affect any metal (except aluminum), including metal objects that would not normally respond to magnetic fields.

A possibility would be that the Radiants could enter the Spiritual Realm, as occurs in WaT, and harvest Stormlight spheres from visions there. This might require a Bondsmith, though (it's been a while since I read the book, and I read it over two days, so I can't really remember the details too well).
