  1. My only Timothy Omundson experience has been Psych!, which I don't think is representative of his general typecasting, but other than that these all look like really solid choices for their roles!
  2. Yeah, Norway vs Brazil was pretty amazing. My favorite teams are Netherlands (because of Dutch heritage), Norway (because of Norwegian heritage), USA (because I live here), and England (because they're cool and I have British friends). As of now, two of my teams are dead and one of them is going to knock out the other in Norway vs. England. I'm kind of mad at Morocco for knocking out my favorite, but I guess getting out in the Round of 32 isn't so bad if they turn out to be the world champions, so go Morocco, I suppose. What do y'all think about America vs Belgium? That game was totally winnable in my opinion, we just weren't playing our best.
  3. Welcome to the 17th Shard! From what I've seen, everything that makes you weird to other people will make you a great addition to the community here, so that's no problem. However, before officially joining our ranks, you must face the interrogation. 1) What is your opinion of Kelsier? 2) Have you been keeping up with the World Cup? If so, who are some favorite teams/players? 3) What roles should Benedict Cumberbatch and Tom Hiddleston play in the upcoming Cosmere adaptations?
  4. He could totally do Wayne, but I feel like in that case a great British accent and a much more Hoid-ish range of emotions would go to waste, and that would be unfortunate. Speaking of accents, I'm just now remembering that Wayne would have to be good with voices. Considering that, I vote for Andy Serkis as Wayne. (Kidding, mostly). Tom Hiddleston could do an excellent job as Wayne, though, so I'm okay either way.
  5. Yeah, his appearance definitely feels more Hoid-ish. The thing is that Hoid has such a minor role in Mistborn (maybe the movie will do that differently), plus I'm saving Hoid for Tom Hiddleston. An idea earlier in the thread was to have him as the voice of Ruin, which I think could totally work as well.
  6. England is a great team. That being said, if Netherlands and England traded round of 32 opponents, Netherlands would have made it for sure (which makes me even more sad about their loss). I read recently that Erling Haaland, a Norwegian player considered by some the best striker in the world, was eligible to play for England if he wanted to. That guy alongside Harry Kane...terrifying. Fortunately for the rest of the world, he only wanted to play for Norway. He's playing Brazil later today, and supposed to lose - but with a guy like Haaland, you never know. The number of almost-upsets in this tournament has been crazy; I'd like it if Norway can pull off an actual upset. First Ideal of American soccer fans: USA before France, USA before Spain, USA before Argentina. IT'S COMING HOME
  7. That's actually one of my favorite things to do! Hand-written letters are conducive to sending someone nine pages of profound-seeming nonsense in a way that texting or even email really just isn't. It's also just a good way to clear one's head and organize thoughts - though different people do that differently, I'm sure. If life goes as planned, I'm looking forward to seeing what we can do in another 50 years. In this last year, I declaimed Patrick Henry's "Give Me Liberty" speech for a competition. In putting myself in-character as Patrick Henry, I found myself with a deeper understanding of and appreciation for our country and the men who founded it. I know the Founders were, to some degree, hypocrites (slavery being the big thing here), but that's what we all are in the end. The Founders were flawed men, but they gave themselves to a cause that was greater than themselves, risking their "lives, fortunes and sacred honor" for an ideal. Even though America has messed up a few times, I'm still proud of this land. "My country, right or wrong; if right, to be kept right; and if wrong, to be set right." - Carl Schurz
  8. France is definitely a strong one. Mbappe is up there with Messi for most goals this World Cup (although Messi just scored another one). Any favorite players?
  9. I've been keeping up with a few teams, but I don't really favor anyone to win ever since Netherlands got knocked out. In y'all's opinion, who should win the World Cup and why? I'd be interested to learn anything new about soccer, as it's my favorite sport. Also, do y'all have any favorite players, and if so, why?
  10. I'm glad you're trying out Islington, and I hope you enjoy the book! Which series is it, Hierarchy or Licanius (or some other series I'm not aware of)? The only one I'm caught up on is Hierarchy, which isn't finished yet, but it's really good. I've only read Book 1 of the Licanius trilogy, which is also really good but super confusing as well, so if you're reading that one I hope you have better luck than I did keeping track of some things.
  11. Welcome to the Shard! If you're ever on the lookout for more Jameses, James Islington has some good books out there.
  12. I just had another idea - what if he were Frost or Xisis? He's played a dragon before, after all (Smaug). Problem is we don't know a huge amount about either of them, but if he was one of them I'd lean toward maybe Frost because he seems more awesome. I haven't read Isles of the Emberdark, by the way, so I'm not aware of any appearances that dragons make in that.
  13. That actually makes a ton of sense. Though I've never thought of it before, it does definitely fit (although a carapace-covered Cumberbatch is a sight I never thought I'd see). These are both great ideas! This might be a bit of a stretch, but maybe Sigzil? Then again, there are probably better Sigzils out there. I've also seen him occasionally cast as Ruin, which would be cool.
  14. In that case, you're not missing much of the puzzle at all and I can spoil with impunity. I've heard somewhere that Hoid means to collect every magic system in the Cosmere, but I can't vouch for how accurate that is. On the Coppermind it says that Hoid's quest might be "To make that which once was". To me that sounds like maybe remaking Adonalsium, but this is Brandon Sanderson - obviously it won't be that obvious. As a wise old Sharder often says, "Hope that helps".
