Thank you! I will work on it! I'm trying to get to a point where I can swear the 2nd Edgedancer Ideal, but I don't think I'm there yet

Do I swear an ideal when I have began to follow it, or when I decide I intend to follow it?

How Would You Rate the Stormlight Books?
Ink and Embers replied to Teravangian's topic in Stormlight Archive
1 - Wind and Truth (some of it was brilliant and that outweighs the terrible bits for me) 2 - Words of Radiance (just generally great) 3 - The Way of Kings (cool worldbuilding and characterisation) 4 - Oathbringer (the only part that sticks in my brain is the end, but that was absolutely epic) 5 - Rhythm of War (I still really liked it, the tone just felt more grim than previous books)- 23 replies

https://wob.coppermind.net/events/122/#e3334 I found this WoB which suggests otherwise? Yeah, perhaps I'm reading into it too much! Awesome! I didn't think of that! They seem to be fond of the humans and singers - the Stone with Venli and the Wind with the Heralds - so I wouldn't be surprised if they had been trying to protect them then as well!

I would like to preface this theory with the fact I have read neither Dragonsteel Prime nor Isles of the Emberdark, so this may end up being very wrong. In Wind and Truth, we learn that there was a fourth moon of Roshar that crashed, bringing the total number of celestial bodies in the system down from 17 to 16. There are 16 Shards. There were 17 people who killed Adonalsium. In The Way of Kings, Hoid says, "I began life as a thought, a concept, words on a page. That was another thing I stole. Myself." My personal take on this is that it related to a prophecy of sorts (I may be completely wrong) - if Preservation had good enough future sight to see several millenia ahead, I suspect Adonalsium would have, too. My theory is that perhaps Hoid was referring to a prophecy about himself, involving him becoming a Shard, which he chose not to fulfill (thereby "stealing" himself from fate?). Potentially, Adonalsium intended for him to be a Shard, thinking there would be 17 Shards - and so 17 would become a significant number instead. Then, they crashed the fourth moon when they realised they were wrong so the Rosharan system retained its significance. Why the system had to be notable, I'm not sure, but perhaps it has something to do with Braize's strange metals? Obvious flaws in the argument: If Adonalsium had such good future sight, how did they not see this coming? Perhaps it was only a slim possibility, like how Hoid thought Retribution's Ascension was unlikely? If the fourth moon crashed into Roshar, it would have been catastrophic. But the listeners were there when Honor and Cultivation arrived, which was, presumably, just after the Shattering. My only theory against this is that perhaps Adonalsium (or their remnants) preserved them, but that is a weak argument at best. Any thoughts?

Ah, sorry! So basically Shai should get those Shards? -

Preservation and Whimsy - everything is the same, except when you feel like it. Virtuosity and Odium - "I HATE EVERYONE but I'm a good person, promise!" -
Ah, sorry! Thank you

Does Pineapple Belong On Pizza Debate
Ink and Embers replied to The WorldHopper Taynix's topic in General Discussion
Whoever put it on there in the first place was weird, but it's been a topping long enough to count now -
1. One of my lifelong goals is to read every book listed at the back of the DnD 5e player's handbook, and I always noted Mistborn seemed like a cool name. Then a friend of mine started reading The Final Empire, and I went "You know what? I might as well read them now." 2. I googled the Ghostbloods symbol pretty early on, went "I'm not going to look up anything else until I've read more", and now, having read more, can look things up. 3. I like writing and fire is cool.

What the “dog who became a dragon” story is an allegory for
Ink and Embers replied to coolsnow7's topic in Stormlight Archive
In The Sunlit Man, Sigzil mentions that Hoid often tries to disguise the purpose of his stories by saying they have no meaning, when he's clearly lying. I think that might be what's going on? I'm working with very little evidence here, but this somewhat reminds me of Ati? In Secret History, he says that he was never an ordinary human, but a Vessel awaiting power. He then takes up the Shard of Ruin, which nearly destroys Scadrial while he's holding it. -
Perhaps you would need one vessel who was able to take up all 16 shards (somehow), and then give that power up so it could re-become self-aware, if you wanted to attempt to recreate Adonalsium? Although who that could be, I don't know.

Life before death. Strength before weakness. Journey before destination. I have sworn the second ideal of the Lightweavers, although I am not sure which orders I will join. I also already know what my "crusade" will be, though I won't be able to do it for a while.

I would probably invite Lift, Adolin, Marasi, Sarene, Siri, and Yumi! I considered inviting Hoid, but he'd probably just insult people.

Hi! I'm Ink and Embers. I've read most of the cosmere books, apart from White Sand and Isles of the Emberdark. I sometimes come up with correct predictions based on entirely the wrong evidence! I also enjoy writing, ttrpgs, and general daydreaming!
