Still working on my stuff and things and I got hit in the head with a funny idea that I'm not sure works or not. Near the end the lost metal we learn that Scadrians can thread a Hemalurgic needle through an individual to steal the chunk of preservation's Investiture, without killing them. Could an enterprising Nicroburster and Soulbearer (Nicrosil Ferring) create practically infinite charged spikes with these? My thoughts process is this: Step 1. The Soulbearer stores their Investiture in a metalmind, then gets their Nicroburster to burst them while they tap the metalmind. Boom, now they're heavily invested. (essentially compounding with an extra step). Step 2. The Soulbearer stores half of their newly acquired Investiture in a metalmind, returning to their original Invested state as a normal scadrian, with a highly full metalmind. Step 3. Their Nicroburster needles away their Investiture (perhaps the Soulbearer can hide this trauma in a coppermind medallion before healing up with a gold one or something). Step 4. Repeat the process and create more needles. Step 5. Profit.

We got to see the ways some hemalurgic spikes are implemented! This'll give me the jump on my next expansion

The power house trait unfortunately reduces the cost to burn metals "to a minimum of 1 Investiture" sadly. Would've been super helpful for maintaining savantism though

Thank you so much for the detailed analysis, this is exactly what I was looking for! It was more for the timekeeping aspect, the Rhythm of Peace let's a singer attune to Roshar. I wanted the Rhythm of Mist to hold a similar function, while the Rhythm of Serenity holds the more emotional counterpart My thinking was, this is a Singer naming scheme first, and an allomantic one second. While singers likely can alter Feruchemical rhythm's to sound closer to tapping or storing variants, this would be more of an analog to changing intent as seen in the creation of Anti-light. Thus this wouldn't require new names, rather inflections of the same emotional information. For example, a singer could attune the Tapping form of the Rhythm of Consequence to scold a child, or attune the Storing variant to show more reverence to a loss of a loved one. Physical Rhythms I like your idea of Awareness to mimics the Kandra blessings, I didn't use any terms that were used in the cosmere RPG to avoid confusion but I know realize Kandra won't change the names of their blessings for a book they don't know about, and neither would singers with their rhythms. With that in mind perhaps changing A-tin to Vulnerability would be best, since it would give a more contrast between it and F-tin. For F-pewter I got some inspiration from the main way it was used in Era 1, keeping people going when they shouldn't be able to. That way it differentiates itself from the Feruchemical variety, the practitioners of which often Tap in great bursts compared to slowly burning as seen in Allomancy. Cognitive Metals I love the Rhythm of Attunement! Thats perfect for Bronze. And the reason I went with what I did for Zinc is to avoid stepping on the Rosharan rhythms, and new I needed to fill the "anger" roll in the emotional spectrum. This is something that will probably come up a lot later so I should clarify. I want these rhythms to be completely usable by singers without ever using Rosharan tones. So in some places I use broader ideas of the metallic arts, or hone in on a particular way it's used to evoke a certain emotion that can't be found elsewhere, hence Copper got Paranoia, as a soft counterpart to anxiety. Spiritual Rhythms With Chromium, Fraudulence came about with the idea of stealing, something most of the metallic arts don't often do directly, plus I wanted something that felt very easy to call out in someone, similar to say, how singers use Skepticism. Also for F-Chromium I felt fortune was too on the nose lol. Nicrosil is weird for me, I almost A-Nircosil Endowment, but landed on concessions for its similar "I'll give you credit/respect" vibes. For its Feruchemical counterpart, thought of how the Rhythm of the Winds exists on Roshar, and was used to sing of Radiants. I wanted a similar vibe somewhere in the mix, and felt with how that metal behaves its could do with being the odd one out. For F-Duralumin the only reason I chose Comprehension over Empathy was because of its broader use. For example a singer could attune it Tapping-wise to signal their understanding of an explanation given, or use it Storing-wise to show their empathy to a friend venting about a hard day. Temporal rhythm time wooooo! I gave A-Cadmium lethargy just because of that one time a pulser burns the metal because she's bored of a meeting, and I sort of liked that vibe. I can easily imagine bored teenagers attuning that rhythm in a similar way a pulser misting would when faced with such horrors as actually paying attention in school. Again with the Rhythm of Suspense is was doing a more broad appeal that could fit a wider niche, plus I love puns, and thought holding your breath in suspense was too good to pass up. ((I do like the Contraction and Dilation ideas on a fundamental level but I was saving those for a certain, non-vorin approved expansion down the line)) Reflection for Gold is awesome btw and I'm stealing that immediately (again the pun factors in here). Though for F-Gold I know the mechanics of Cosmere healing, but again, wanted to fit a niche and Rhythms like these are more vibe based than scientifically based. Again thank you so much for the feedback, this is wonderful!

Heyo! I've been trying to take my mind off the cosmere and have been failing. So I started working on what I can for Spikes and Steel, even though I have no clue what is or isn't in the Mistborn Rpg I can guess they won't be talking about Singers much. So here are 33 Rhythms each metallic art pulses. Human seekers wouldn't realize these are rhythms, but give a singer a hemalugic spike charged with allomantic bronze and voila! Let me know if these seem fitting, I want to get some feedback well before I create the beta. Rhythm of the Mist - Counterpart to Peace Physical Rhythms - Rhythm of Envy (A-Iron) - Rhythm of Consequence (F-Iron) - Rhythm of Separation (A-Steel) - Rhythm of Alacrity (F-Steel) - Rhythm of Receptivity (A-Tin) Vulnerability? - Rhythm of Apathy (F-Tin) - Rhythm of Persistence (A-Pewter) Abidance? - Rhythm of Authority (F-Pewter) Cognitive Rhythms - Rhythm of Indignation (A-Zinc) Outrage? - Rhythm of Acuity (F-Zinc) - Rhythm of Serenity (A-Brass) Conciliation? - Rhythm of Warmth (F-Brass) - Rhythm of Paranoia (A-Copper) - Rhythm of Remembrance (F-Copper) - Rhythm of Songs? (A-Bronze) - Rhythm of Vigilance (F-Bronze) Spiritual Rhythms - Rhythm of Fraudulence (A-Chromium) - Rhythm of Opportunity (F-Chromium) - Rhythm of Concession (A-Nicrosil) Compliance? - Rhythm of Fascination (F-Nicrosil) Legends? - Rhythm of Humility (A-Aluminium) - Rhythm of Pride (F-Aluminium) - Rhythm of Intensity (A-Duralumin) - Rhythm of Comprehension (F-Duralumin) Temporal Rhythms - Rhythm of Lethargy (A-Cadmium) - Rhythm of Suspense (F-Cadmium) - Rhythm of Contemplation (A-Bendalloy) - Rhythm of Hunger? (F-Bendalloy) - Rhythm of Guilt (A-Gold) - Rhythm of Recuperation (F-Gold) Amelioration? - Rhythm of Hesitance (A-Electrum) - Rhythm of Perseverance (F-Electrum)

The official cosmere rpg discord server has a ton of resources, Brotherwise themselves made the template that I heavily modified to make the expansion. If you haven't yet I suggest you take a peek there before discord implodes!

Ah someone has mentioned hemalurgy and as such, I am here!!! I don't know if a high storm could "supercharge" plate, though it would certainly recharge the armor. You could probably modify the crystal cages (or the plate itself) with metal to slightly alter the effects of plate and the rate of which it converts investiture into energy. Now, charged spikes and metalminds are where things get interesting! If you wanted to fuse a metalmind to the plate (to perhaps convert Rosharan Investiture into Feruchemical charges) you'd probably need a Bondsmith or an Excisor and some Medallions to key the metal to the deadplate. With hemalurgy perhaps you can pull an ishar and spike the spren with crystal spikes, you'd likely need to intentionally regrow the plate around the spikes to let them stick. This method could also stick metal hemalurgic spikes, though I am unsure if those work on type 1s

The games I've run I haven't had a chance to run into permanent injuries yet, though here's the system I plan on using, it's incomplete but still alright. I wanted something like the bonuses you get from rewards mixed with minor expertises and skill enhancements. I'd recommend shifting the exact reward as you test the waters. Scarred Visage (Prerequisite: Permanent injury): Gain advantage on one intimidation check per long rest Heightened Hearing (Prerequisite: lost eye): Your sense range increases as if you had an awareness 2 higher than normal Heightened Sight (Prerequisite: Deaf): Gain advantage on one perception check per long rest Over Compensation (Prerequisite: Permanent Injured arm or leg): Gain advantage on one athletics check per long rest Inner Focus (Prerequisite: Permanent exhaustion injury or internal damage): Increase your max focus by 1 Best Rest (Prerequisite: Head or nerve damage): when you roll your recovery add a bonus equal to your tier Filling the Cracks (Prerequisite: Suffer permanent emotional injury/mental illness from trauma): An interested spren begins to follow you Forged (Prerequisite: suffer burns): Gain the Determined effect once per long rest

I made some homebrew fabrials since I found the amount in the player's handbook a little lacking, so I made a bunch more. I have a link to the document here! https://docs.google.com/document/d/1WeZubYrTUVCFl08H2cIKYeSfKIzyq7A-ba6CYrFow6o/edit?usp=drivesdk

Oh hey lex! Tell me your favorite Twinborn combo and why my friend
-
Ohoho! I'm definitely throwing my hat in the ring here! The Blistering Ones(Brass-F): Firesoul fused leave ice wherever they walk, storing their warmth to a nearly fatal degree. Their carapace often is covered in bits of frozen air. When in combat, they take advantage of the highly oxygeniated air of roshar and burst into flames using the heat in conjunction with the flint like carapace to ignite the air around them The Rushing Ones(Iron-A): Built with momentum in mind they grow think and heavy carapace, and keep their muscle mass in their legs. Their main goal is simple. Run. By pulling on the weapons and armour of their does they weave through troops, carrying a deviating storm of weapons behind them. With centuries of practice the metal they pull makes wide arcs as they dodge and weave around their own waves of metal

Welcome to the shard! I gotta ask, what twinborn abilities would you take and why? Also, what's your favorite invested art?
-
Oooo a lover of Elantris!!! (Certainly not enough of those) Out of the selish magic Brandon hasn't expanded too much on (Dahkor, Svordish potions, Bloodsealing, and Chayshan) which are you the most hyped to learn more about? ((Also go to twinborn combination?))

I don't know if this has been figured out yet, but do we know why the Malwish wear their masks? I know the Lord ruler had the Malwish as a backup population in case the genetic modifications didn't as work for northern scadrians. So I always assumed that the Malwish masks were a cultural holdover from the technology they were given to survive the much harsher southern lands in era 1.

It's probably my favorite secret project so far (Though aux my beloved gives sunlight a run for its money) I feel like lift would balance him out a bit (I was originally going to pick syl in place of her but remember hoids.... Douchebagginess) Tbf wayne would also 100% trade elend's books for a neat sock be found I love the equality of it! Era 1 made me a little miffed that you needed to be born into powers, so when hemalurgy was properly introduced I was so excited! It's truly the cosmere's great equalizer. Honestly is want to ask about crystal hemalurgy (I have a theory on how the primal aether any given gem is related to potentially molds the effects (Such as a zephyr based crystals (Sapphire) granting something related to vapors) I personally love savantism in allomancy and feruchemy! I wish there was an easy way to gain a feruchemists abilities (because getting lerasium for allomancy is soooo easy(sarcasm)) but honestly twinborn are awesome (though it would've been cool if everyone was a twinborn. harmony, come on man) I've always loved magnetic magic since I'm a physics major and the FTL possibilities are fascinating with temporal external allomancy! And oh I have so many questions about feruchemy now that it's been expanded on (Can firesoul savants catch fire???) I could ramble on and on about the metallic arts!

Aasimar and paladin all the way (Mmmm power gaming my beloved) Definitely gotta go with nightblood, love how they just yap about rust And I'll definitely need to!!!!
-
The stormlight ttrpg of course! Oh! I'm a big fan of dragons in general, honestly who isn't lol (And yeah you *can* spike anything, but dragons are nearly impervious, I'd imagine it'd be quite difficult) I'm quite terrible at just reading without audio for long periods of time, I tend to need both sadly I play bass guitar and am learning to play a 6 string acoustic and electric guitar at the moment! And I think I'd like to travel to silver light if I could! (I know that's a non answer but I could spend a lifetime learning)((if I really had to pick one it'd be komashi since there's no terrible war or conflict happening there as far as we know right now)) Not to objectify nightblood but nightblood Well... Id love to chat with Eddlin but I couldn't pick him without boring my other choices.... So I'd probably bring Elend Venture and Wayne not only because they're absolutely goobers but having era 1 and era 2 interacting is always great, Hoid needs to show up, as does lift for even more goober related purposes. Id love to have Masaka for her worldly differences. And lastly starling, not only is she essentially from the future but she's also yolish! So final answer Elend, Wayne, Hoid, Lift, Masala and Starling

Personally I'm a big fan of Firesouls and Lurchers. But in actual combination a connecter rioter would be great for worldhoppers It's been fantastic! (Started campaign planning with the new rpg out) Dragons are a little to vague rn and personally I'd like to see them have some bigger weaknesses (let me steal their powers with spikes then I'm all for em) We love wallyne in this household!!! I have NPC in one of my campaigns based on him I'm an audio book listener, and with the world becoming more digitized I'm glad the books are keeping pace!

Heyo! I'm NovaOmen, lover of hemalurgy and dustbringers (Despite being a windrunner) I've only got tress to catch up on, then I'm all caught up!
