  1. Afraid not, Aetae. One of the key features of Kwaan's storyline is that his naturally remarkable memory remembered things differently than what the Worldbingers were putting forth from their metalminds. This led him to the conclusion that Alendi was not the Hero of Ages and that they had been deceived and led down the garden path. Add to that, Brandon said in the annotations that Ruin can and did corrupt info stored in metalminds.
  2. I am not sure how you established the chronology you presented for the storm visions. It is not the order they were presented in the books. Of course, that is clearly not a a chronological order since Dalinar had the Feverstone Keep vision before he had the Nohadon vision. Clearly Nohadaon (at the time of a desolation) predated the Recreance. Beyond that, I have seen no evidence to establish any other chronology.
  3. Spot on, Scott. I get very concerned when theories or ideas (plausible and likely though they may be) get presented as fact, confirmed, or proof. This sort of thing has the tendency of closing people off to new ideas that are plausible or even likely in their own right. I especially worry about new sharders who may see something described as proven fact when the evidence doesn't rise to the level of proof or confirmation. Sometimes this comes off as discounting or poopooing peoples ideas. I apologize that I gave you that impression, Darnam. I did not mean to come off as saying something must be proven to be posted. I just have seen a lot of ideas lately being described similarly. For example, I have a large and detailed alternative Davar/Ghostblood thread that was based on someone declaring something as confirmed that was definitely not.
  4. For the first part, see my previous post. For the second: I agree that Dalinar has some definite parallels to Nohadon. But, I think many on the forums here make slippery slope assumptions about Nohadon. What we know about him is that he was a famous ancient king (nearly prehistoric since the Way of Kings is one of the oldest books in known existence on Roshar) who was a great unifier. He lived (at the latest) at the time of the last desolation. He first brought factions to heel before developing ideals of leadership (I believe this to be the source of much of the assumptions). He lamented that other bonding spren were not as discerning as honorspren. I really have a hard time imagining that the KR were developed so late in the game. Also, though Nohadon developed ideals of leadership and codes of conduct, I see nothing to specifically tie him to the KR and their ideals. Further, how could Nohadon as a normal mortal human have established the KR power-ups as each radiant reached the next ideal? Radiants appear to have clearly existed during the desolations. We see that in Starfalls where the radiants speak of an impending desolation. I think too many, too soon, assume that Nohadon was the originator of the KR.
  5. My key point was, that the evidence does not add up to proof of anything.
  6. Thanks Kadrok. It's fixed now. Upvote for the heads up.
  7. I ate the second draft right before he finished it (urp). So, rather than doing a second second draft he went right on into the third.
  8. Seems like the Davars would be higher on Amarams hit list than Luesh if that were the case. For him to kill only Luesh would indicate that he knew Luesh was a Ghostblood and also that the remaining Davars were not.
  9. This makes two assumptions. Jasnah has a spren bond and Jasnah is bonded to a cryptic. Neither of these assumptions has a strong evidentiary basis. So, not proof in my book.
  10. Are all of the Heralds who gave up their Honorblades still alive? What happens to a Surgebinder and his spren during the Weeping? Are they affected by the lack of Stormlight? The above questions are RAFO bait in my view.
  11. No, not a joke. You didn't miss the punchline. I just worry about this present discussion being read too seriously by someone coming late to the game. Fact is of course, the rep system doesn't have to (and really doesn't) make canonical sense.
  12. I agree that the Heralds could only lead the KR in the run up and during a desolation, but I completely reject the the idea that the KR weren't formed until after the last desolation. If you are speaking of the Nohadon vision as your evidence, then this is thin for anything except that there are more Nahel bonding spren than just honorspren. Starfalls clearly indicates that the KR are pre-last desolation. As to other people seeing the visions, were there not nine Heralds who gave up? I figure some will redeem themselves (Shalash seems to have a particular self-loathing). But, I not inclined to think all nine will. As to them returning to damnation after death, who knows how it would work now that they have abandoned the oathpact. For the record though, I don't think any of them are dead. As to the mechanism for becoming a new Herald, I don't know. It could be as simple as one of the Heralds relinquishing what they have to someone else. Fact is though, we don't know what they mechanism is for 90% (just a number tossed out there to represent a whole lot of most) of the things we theorize about here. It could also be that a new Herald would not be as powerful as an original Herald because Honor is dead. @bloodfalcon2: This thought had occurred to me also. The rub is that we have two flashback characters with the same surges (Szeth and Kaladin). It seems for this idea to fly, each would have to have a different set of surges.
  13. Well, we are just following Vin's progression, right? She was a sliver before she was a Shard.
  14. Hi Cosmerenaut. Thanks for coming out of the shadows and into the light. Glad to have you with us, Welcome.
  15. Hi moonchild. glad to have you with us. I look forward to hearing your ideas. It is always nice to have a fresh perspective contributing to the discussions.
  16. Somebody put out a similar idea previously. But it is still good thinking. The biggest qualm I have with it at this point is that such a mechanism would make it hazardous for KR to fight near each other. They would be frequently weakening each others armor. Now, there are those who have suggested also that the KR didn't need gems to infuse their plate. I'm not sure about this idea myself. The evidence is thin and it seems like a major leap in technology to figure out how to rig up the gemstone system with this place that the regular soldiers just got from the KR at the Recreance. It seems with the infighting over plate and blade that the plate would have likely been severely damaged to the point of at least near uselessness rather quickly. It would be something like someone gave you a cell phone to use and then the battery went dead, but you had no charger and no idea that there was even another way to charge it.
  17. It could be as simple as the cosmere is just their word for the universe, the cosmos, everything everywhere. If the word 'cosmere' was the Yolen word then it stands to reason that that term and concept could bleed into every shardworld since they all have a strong tie to Yolen in their god(s). Or it could simply be a word to represent a concept to us. Remember that the shardworlds do not have a shared language so each of these books is arguably a translation. On the other hand, the ardentia seems to be familiar with Shadesmar and traveling there as evidenced by the Geranid interlude. This suggests that they me rather cosmere literate and it is also very conceivable that the worldsingers could have been seeded with cosmere knowledge from Hoid.
  18. This somewhat supports my idea that Dalinar is being prepared to be more than a KR. I think he may be being prepared as a replacement Herald. Think about it, who established and led the KR? The Heralds. Of course, there is the issue of what Dalinar will do with his shardblade when offered an Honorblade...oh, wait .
  19. I agree with the all metals give you what you need. But, I would think they would have discussed electrum differently if they found it useful as a predictive metal. I have a hard time imagining that, after learning what she did in the Zane fight, Vin did not try to work out how to do something like that with electrum. The fact that it went unmentioned seems to suggest that electrum is rather feeble as a predictive metal. It seems to show only the possible choices you could make, rather than predicting what happens to you when you make those choices.
  20. Welcome, jason! glad to have you with us.
  21. Gloom, you are going crazy with these double posts lately . FYI, editing a post is preferred to double posting (unless it is like a couple of days later or a radically different thought.
  22. Good on ya, jason. Rangress at least knows now where to find the text of the reading they heard.
  23. There is always the Tacoma signing. Edit: nevermind, apparently it is on base and you need a military ID. I am planning on going to Seattle. If I am lucky enough to find a code there, I'll share it with you karaoke. SkeeBall is clearly very important.
  24. I generally dislike first person in general (which is why I have not read hunger games, first person present tense, blech!). Alcatraz though, has a great voice to it and the first person works exceptionally well. Steelheart, which is also first person (and present tense) works because of the film noir feel to the voice (though not as heavy in the use of simile). Although, I don't enjoy the voice of Steelheart nearly as much as Alcatraz.
