You'd have a hard time forcing bubbles through the mostly solid alloy. Also, that would only possibly work with an alloy that is 87.2% zinc or higher. If the zinc content is any lower than that, then it will be fully solid at the melting temp of zinc.

Welcome, Elennor. Glad to have you with us and I look forward to reading your ideas.

On sazed fixing the ashworld *almost* as it was before
Shardlet replied to king of nowhere's topic in Mistborn
The people on the Southern continent were indeed left unchanged by TLR as a 'reserve' of sorts. I'm pretty sure that that info is in the annotations to HOA. He also had some advantages over TLR. Sazed continues to hold the power of both shards and therefore had a lot more time to fiddle with things than TLR. Also, recall that Rashek would not have had much knowledge of DNA and bacteria, yet he was able to make changes that needed to be made to enable the people to survive the ash, the reduced light, and poorer nutrition. I think it is safe to assume that Sazed had at least as much ability to successfully manipulate the biology of the Flora and Fauna as Rashek did. -
Yeah, but Jasnah had to soulcast a great big boulder to crack one gem. What you're suggesting is a massive expenditure of stormlight far beyond infusing. If Kaladin were to suck in all the stormlight from those gems they would just go dark, not crack. Then, for several of Elhokar's gems to crack, someone would have had to make an extreme usage of stormlight in a shorter period of time than normal infusing. I just don't see anything happening other than Dalinar holding up the claw. And we don't know of a surge (yet) which would really cause that kind of effect.

It's best to not use such affirmative statements for thoeries, ideas, and speculations. It tends to cause confusion and muddy the water.

Theory: Thrillspren [spoilers?]
Shardlet replied to Glaring at the Survivor's topic in Stormlight Archive
My only qualm with that is Dalinar's physical revulsion of the Thrill. If it was simply a proto-surgebinder stormlight effect, it would be benign. But, the emotions that it brings up (glory in destruction and slaughter especially) suggests to me that this comes from Odium.- 34 replies

I am inclined to agree with you Beautor. Either Elhokar did something or somebody put in flawed gems to begin with, to my way of thinking. The fact that the gems were cracked suggests the latter since we didn't see any apparent big surgebinding effects.

Theory: Thrillspren [spoilers?]
Shardlet replied to Glaring at the Survivor's topic in Stormlight Archive
Yeah, as hoser pointed out, Kaladin is immune to the Thrill as generally described. At Seattle, Brandon indicated that in the Jost fight flashback that something was happeining to Kaladin, but that it was different than the Thrill. Also, Brandon indicated that "the Thrill" that Dalinar describes at the Battle of the Tower is something different than his previously described Thrills. This is all background info though and does not necessarily refute your theory Stroniax. I do think the evidence is a bit thin for a "theory", though. Personally, it doesn't really resonate with me.- 34 replies

I'm skeptical of this. He was pretty far away to be sucking in light from Elhokar's gems.

But the key aspect there is that he noticed the surge of power. Whereas, there doesn't appear to be any cognizence of any sort of power surge from any of Dalinar, Elhokar, or Adolin. This is especially poignant when you consider the quantity of stormlight held in Elhokar's plate gems as compared to the palty amount that Kaladin carried at any given time.

He was brain dead, but not physically dead. A vegetable, to use the vernacular. A key element in the case of the Emperor is that nothing was needed to keep him alive other than normal nutrition. There was no life support equipment artificially keeping him alive.

I would expect so. It is essentially the same thing. You are changing the composition of the metal.

I don't necessarily have any problem with any of these ideas. I think there are still some extremely potent holes that need to be filled in for establishing that Nohadon formed the KR, the ideals, and restricted the traits of the spren-bond. All this comes down to not yet having seen any indication that Nohadon was more than an ordinary man with an extraordinary philosophy. We need to see some evidence that he actually had some substantial power (not political) before I can subscribe to these ideas. It may very well be that all the ideals are contained/described/extolled within The Way of Kings. However, the question is, whether the quote refers to the ideals, whether Nohadon created the ideals or discovered the ideals, and whether or not it was Nohadon that established the KR and empowered them with the power-up system using the ideals.

The nightwatcher's nature is still unclear. It looks to me that the evidence most strongly supports that the Nightwatcher is Cultivation and therefore would not be a sliver.

Given that, it seems more likely that Elantris was patterned after aon Rao rather than the alternative.

I could see a reduction in fertility due to an earthquake only in cases where the topography was rendered unsuitable, good soil was displaced by bad soil, or when something was released into the soil that affected fertility. I can't see any way that fertility would be directly affected by an earthquake.

Oh, sure! Go and bring realmatics into it. I would simplify and concrete your cognitive statement by saying that, in such a case, the wall would not be generally considered to be red. Thus, the wall would not be cognitively considered to be 'red'.

There has been discussion of Elhokar unwittingly using the stormilight from him plate gems and talk of Dalinar unwittingly using it. Nothing very conclusive. I don't see anything in the known (or suspected) Lightweaver skillset that would account for such a use of surgebinding. Basically, I don't see how an illusion or soulcasting would have done anything there. Alaxel's idea of a donation of light to Dalinar makes more sense, but without further info...

LDS Influences on Themes (Theology Time)
Shardlet replied to The Rooster's topic in General Brandon Discussion
Good catch on the higher law-lesser law. -
Seems pretty unlikely to me. Her trip to Shadesmar seems to have been a memorable occasion for her, as one would expect. And, i doubt that she could have soulcast (at least at first) without going to Shadesmar. Also there is no indication of any kind of familiarity as would be expected if a previous trip was assumed to be a hallucination.

Except, we don't know that that is what Gavilar meant by "the most important words..." and we don't know whether Nohadon developed the ideals or if he discovered them. I also don't know that we know of any direct relationship between Nohadon and the KR. It could well be that the KR (or whoever establish the KR) liked the Way of Kings and adopted it.
