    I hadn't thought of comparing him to David before. His pride and rashness do make him lose, but in later books... I'd never felt it was overused, though that is just me. Well, yes, but I feel like it shows how Darrow is kind of going 'off-track', as the Sons of Ares would've wanted him to work for the Jackal and gain his favour instead of doing what he did. At times, he prioritised the game over the revolution, and I feel like that is part of his character. I feel like a lot of the reasons you don't like Red Rising is because it's Pierce Brown's first published book, and comparing Red Rising to Mistborn is like comparing Elantris to Mistborn. A lot of this, in my opinion, gets better in the later books.

    Renzik ended the hyperjump and appeared here. The varvax looked around, confused. This is not the place Zinwik had described to the Department of Protective Services. The people here looked... different. Zinwik had spoken of ash falling from the sky, and pieces of metal flying around everywhere. This did not look like that at all. Maybe the people had finally figured out planetary weather control? But no, their civilisation was on the brink of collapse when Zinwik visited. Renzik was starting to think that Zinwik had lied, only he couldn't figure out what he would gain from doing so. There must be something more. He pondered this, and kept his mindblades at the ready. ~ I'm still spectating; I'll just be RPing Renzik for now. He's an alien from cytoverse, he looks like this: From the Coppermind ^ Zinwik is from... LG109 I think? The Lords of Luthadel.
