Okay so this could be the stockpile of information for tlt since its getting so big. Lets try to keep it mostly to writing information about the larger plot and details that will be importsnt for new players or things that effect the whole thread. I think the people with most information to share will be @xinoehp512 @Through the Living Heir @Through The Living Glass @NameIess @Through The Living Ash and @Through the Living Wrath
Small desc of major plot right now
Witherlord (his vessel is Malevolence authors by @NameIess really bad guy and we need to find a way to stop him, rebus (authored by @Through the Living Heir) has a line and idea of how to stop him. This plan involves: the Iris, a mafia crime syndicate and the krusaders, the Iris calvery force; The Kimo labs, a laboratory run by Dax and became a part of Rebus empire; and an unnamed organization that Elinore and her crew are a part of. (All authored by yours truly)
I think thats pretty good. Heir hasnt had much time to write and nameless is gone..m idk where he went prolly having a life unlike us, anyways, this plot is stalled so we have probably way to many small plots branched off. Right now im trying to get Elinore and her crew back to Rebus and Rebyl.
Corvus is a Narrator of mine that was created because Rebus said his plan needed more Narrators
Before disappearing, Rebus just asked Corvus to sacrifice himself I think, Corvus has not yet agreed

Virids was distracted from his predicament by a faint sound from one of the other branches of the tree. If he were to look for the source of the noise, he would see a woman wearing a black dress sitting on one of the other tree branches. Her feet kicked idly against the trunk of the tree, and she watched the sky above with a melancholy expression.
Viridis peered at the source of the noise, and saw what appeared to be moving shadows.
"Monkeys," he whispered, then cursed. The Tyrannoserpens didn't look like it was going to move; all he could do now was hope that something else would come and distract the snake beneath him.

Awesome, thank you!
Kiornight flew towards the centre of the island, noting the chittering of insects and the roar of some distant creature he wasn't particularly keen on meeting. Caz had told him there would be something of value here; something powerful. He wasn't certain what form it would take, but Caz was usually worth listening to. Unless the "something" here was peace and quiet, which was looking increasingly unlikely by the minute.
He ground to a halt, hissing softly. A tangle of sundew - or another plant along those lines - rose in front of him, from the gritty earth to the darkened trees above. A mesh of branches blocked the majority of sunlight from above. It would slow him significantly, but it was better than passing through a plant that could destroy half his sentience in a matter of minutes.
Kiornight began to work his way upwards, through the dense canopy, hoping whoever had brought that boat was still behind.
Viridis took a different path from the swarm creature; it would take longer to reach the pool, but he didn't want to cross paths with the being until he arrived there. He brought his metabolism up to the absolute limit he could with the level of oxygen in the air around him. Peering through gaps in the canopy, he saw that the sun would set soon, which meant that the flora around him would begin sucking up oxygen.
Viridis halted when he heard a hiss - a hiss far, far louder than one should be. Before he had any time to react, a gargantuan snake burst from the undergrowth. The beast was over 15 metres long, and its head was covered in bony plates.
Viridis yelped and dashed up the nearest tree. He had seen one of these before; Tyrannoserpens solus, he believed it was called. He breathed deeply, struggling to keep his heart rate under control as the creature slithered up to the base of his tree.
It hissed once more, and then simply curled up beside the tree and stared at Viridis. Viridis sighed.
This place has some... interesting fauna. Tyrannoserpens isn't a real snake, but it was 'descended' from Titanoboa.

Yeah, but I still felt unfulfilled.
F = P(A)
F = 101325(A≈0.0002)
F = 20.265
According to an AI overview (which is probably the easiest way to get semi-reliable information), at the end of the movie he has to accelerate 13 m/s/s.
Matt Damon is 84 kg, so... You're right, it doesn't work.
SpoilerYeah, though for me personally, the crew being willing to depressurise the rusting ship to finally get this guy back to Earth is fulfilling enough.

I also see some bias in the pinned tag...
Also tau supporters, I found that online, there weren't any good tools to help memorise tau, so I made one!

I tried making it as fast as possible, so the UI isn't that great. It also doesn't work on mobile because you need to type the digits.
Also, I should've included this in the OP, but here's the tau manifesto: https://www.tauday.com/tau-manifesto

Finally have some free time and caught up with all the Cosmere books— if we want to do another rap battle tournament, I’m down to moderate (or co-moderate with Archer if he wants to stay in that role). Let me know and we can try to find a full set of people!
Ooooh
I don't know if I can commit to a roast battle right now... I shall see though

The Martian, by Andy Weir
I've heard some bad things about this book, but I was pleasantly surprised. Mark Whatney is funny, interesting, and even though I've seen the movie, this book held my interest.
That being said, in the movie he proposes his "I could fly like Iron Man" plan, it's shot down, and he eventually has to do it. In the book, he brings it up, it's shot down, and he doesn't have to do it (but it gives them an idea). I was very disappointed while reading the book.
If I know the person is okay with language, then this is a definite recommendation. Such a great book with moderately real science.
Well,
SpoilerThe book didn't have the iron man sequence because it just wouldn't realistically work. The thrust provided would be very limited and near impossible to control properly, and Watney's skin would be sucked in and plug the hole, so the thrust wouldn't last long anyway.
No, I haven't watched the movie, but I've heard what happens.
Anyway, it's been a long time since I posted here. I finished the Rithmatist and the Will of the Many, and have begun Lux and the Strength of the Few. I have also made some WoT progress.
The Rithmatist by Brandon Sanderson
Good book, a with a really good magic system. It's pretty light compared to Cosmere stuff.
The Will of the Many by James Islington
Epic book! Really interesting, the climax was really tense. I didn't get all the answers I wanted, but that's why I'm reading the second book.
[WotM]
SpoilerInitially when I was listening (I had the audiobook) to the Synchronism scene at the end, I thought it was a cut ending or something
I only really wished that we'd gotten to see exactly how the magic system worked.
The Strength of the Few
The sequel to WotM. I'm about a 100 pages in, and I'm finally getting some answers. And a lot more questions...
Lux by Brandon Sanderson
Interesting to see another Reckoners cell. The main character, Jax, does feel pretty David-like though.
The city of Lux is a really cool concept, and it's also nice to see more of how motivators work.
The Dragon Reborn by Robert Jordan
I am getting close to finishing this book, maybe a few more weeks

Kiornight hesitated. There was a potential threat, but not one that wanted to reveal itself. That could mean they felt he was a threat, or it could mean they were trying to conceal how great a threat they were. They wouldn't be weak, surviving here so long. And willing to climb a bizarre plant at a moment's notice.
He decided not to push the conversation, instead scattering deeper into the forest. "Strange," he muttered as he departed.
Viridis waited until the swarm was no longer visible before climbing down to ground level. His eyes scanned the canopy above him, and he spotted a bright red fruit sticking out amongst the foliage. He leaped up and grabbed it before devouring it quickly.
He thought about the being he had seen; he hadn't heard of anything like it. Whatever it was, it was definitely far more than a mere swarm of mindless fireflies.
He wondered if Kiornight knew of the pool, at the centre of the island. If he did, Viridis couldn't let him reach it first. Plucking another fruit and taking a bite, he accelerated his metabolism just slightly, and sprinted inland.
There's a pool of glowing green liquid (like a perpendicularity) a few kilometres inland

Something seemed to bolt out a little of the sun in the canopy. Kiornight hissed softly. He didn't have much time, but if there was another person...
He pulled together, clicking wings calling out in an imitation of a voice. "Who's there?"
Viridis eased his metabolism back to normal levels, in case he had to flee, but remained silent.

The formula for the area of a circle is A = pi r^2, compared to A = (tau r^2)/2...
That is one equation, when tau makes basically everything else easier. Do you do trig?
Also, as Chaos said, it aligns well with the kinetic energy formula.
8 minutes ago, Keteᛕ said:pi is also much older
That is not a good reason... geocentrism is way older than anything else...

Kiornight paused at the sound of a yell. Had that been a person? And where? Gathering back into a largely humanoid shape, he scrutinized the plants around him. An ant nest buried itself near the roots of a tree, insects whirring away busily. Pulling his form tighter together so as not to lose sapience, Kiornight crouched down, listening to the ants.
Intruders ... breaking ... seeking ... killing ...
Kiornight drew back sharply, flashing again momentarily. He hadn't conversed with them long enough to lose a significant number of fireflies, but it would be better to avoid it.
Stepping back, he looked up, squinting through the thick foliage.
Viridis froze as he caught the humanoid swarm looking straight at him, desperately hoping that his cloak would provide sufficient camouflage. He slowed his metabolism as much as he dared.

But I didn’t want that to be my only knowledge.
I started reading from the beginning but it was long and I didn’t get very far.
so I jumped half way and then was confused and lost again.
should I read the last 10 pages to catch up or just jump in?
Just jump it, what you do can have absolutely nothing to do with anything else here if you wish.

Back on the previous island, 105 walked out of the cafe. It was the morning after almost drowning, and they knew what they had to do. Before leaving, they had ordered a few pouches of hydrogen peroxide. They were going to find Viridis. He was just too intriguing to let go.
The morning?
It's still the same day to Viridis... the sun hasn't even set yet

Edit: there is a lot to read. I wish there could be a synopsis.
2nd Edit: I have an idea.
So TLT isn't like other RPs - there's no GM or person in charge, unless you count the super powerful characters.
You can do almost whatever you want here; there are several plotlines happening at once that are unrelated, and you can create your own or join an existing one.
If you wish, you can read some of the wiki: https://thelongestthread.fandom.com/wiki/The_Longest_Thread_Wiki
There isn't much on there, compared to the oceans of lore built over 4473 pages, but it's something
However, plotlines do not need to connect to any existing lore at all

Kiornight glanced around. Huh. He could've sworn he'd heard ... Nevermind. The swarm grew a little further apart: less cohesion this way, but a greater range. The island was full of strange beings.
A pink-green plant snapped at the passing fireflies. A handful blinked out, while the remaining ones flashed briefly and brightly in alarm. Curses. I hope no one saw that.
Viridis slowly ascended higher as the swarm began to spread out. He hoped that whatever this thing was, it wouldn't think to search upwards.
He felt a sharp pain on his left index fingers. "Ah!" he yelped as he spotted the leafcutter ant major biting into his skin. He let go of the branch he was holding, relying on the grip of his other hand, and sped up his metabolism again to aid in healing. He glanced downwards at the swarm fearfully.

Ah okay
Just now, Ink and Embers said:Kiornight examined the boat - largely empty - and concluded it probably didn't have many uses besides firewood. And transport, he supposed. What interested him more was that the marks made by the boat's landing. The waves had barely scrubbed them away at all.
Another person, and recently arrived. If they were competent (Kiornight suspected they had to be to get this far), they might not be dead just yet.
Kiornight shrugged, letting his humanoid shape mostly dissipate into a buzzing swarm, and headed into the island. He'd meet the person sooner or later. Maybe even alive.
Viridis' jaw dropped as the buzzing mass approaching him, though his face remained shadowed by his hood. As quietly as he could, he began to climb the nearest tree. He was confident that no human would be able to hear him, though he had no idea of what this creature's hearing was like. His stomach rumbled, and his eyes widened at the noise; he immediately turned down his metabolism to normal levels. He really needed to find something to eat.

Tzelicrae
What?
11 minutes ago, Ink and Embers said:Okay!
Kiornight arrived at the island in a hissing of wings, tired after several days' flight. Fireflies crawled over his clothing, flickering with light, but he dimmed them with a thought. Better to be concealed, in this place. Whatever lived here was dangerous at best.
Strangely, a small craft rested on the sand on a nearby beach; he'd seen it as he was arriving. Another being. He wondered if they were still alive. Still, wouldn't hurt to check... probably.
If nothing else, he could raid the boat for resources. Steps clicking and whirring with wing beats, he headed towards the boat.
Kiornight is a Tzelicrae-Sleeples-firefly-type-entity
Initially, Viridis dismissed the buzzing for mosquitoes. But as it grew louder, he turned and saw a humanoid figure, covered head-to-toe in what looked like flies. Viridis instinctively accelerated his metabolism - not too much, he was already hungry - but just a little. As the figure approached his boat - which was empty, save his oars - he used his cloak to blend into the dense foliage behind him as best he could, keeping his eyes on Kiornight.
He'd thought that he'd been the only one left who knew about this island. It turned out he was wrong.

Uhh this island has some dangerous fauna and flora (not Patjii-level, but still pretty dangerous), so preferably someone who can deal with such things
The island is uninhabited, so you'll need an explanation for how your character got there (it doesn't have to be realistic)
Also one of my other characters, a Narrator, is watching Viridis very closely...

Also to add another identity.
Why are you adding the multiplicative identity ?
2 minutes ago, Through the Living Hopper said:And that's a common way those formulas are written (to equal 0).
One works just as well
The extra +1 makes it not as good for π's

Except, 1 and 0 are two identities. 1 is the multiplicative, and 0 is the additive. Having only one of those two doesn't fully let us appreciate the beauty of the formula.
Yes, but e to the pi i doesn't equal 1, it equals negative one
The one is just there to make it a nicer number

3 minutes ago, Through the Living Hopper said:
At this point, π has used enough that it's probably going to stay what we keep using.
Probably, but there's still a chance
3 minutes ago, Through the Living Hopper said:Plus e^(πi) + 1 = 0.
Oh yes, something I forgot to mention...
With π, Euler's Identity is kind of clunky because you need the +1 to make it a zero
But with tau...
e^(τi) = 1
So yeah, another reason tau is better

The Thread exploded overnight
Viridis wondered how so many knew of this island. Had someone visited in the time he was gone?
Viridis nearly fell out of the tree.
"There are a lot of monkeys, here," he said. "And I am meant to be the only one who knew of this place." That last statement had a hint of frustration.
Corvus narrowed his eyes. "I... like my Narration."
The Tyrannoserpens hissed again, raising its head off the ground, and lurched towards Professor Olivarino.
In the distance, Viridis heard a roar - that was either from a jaguar or a dinosaur. Probably a Gnathovorax.
