I once had a teacher who, in an effort to make sure to include all the different learning styles, had us all do a mandatory project in each style throughout the year. While I'm sure he meant well, it completely backfired as people still had to work outside their best medium. If he'd said "do a project on this, and it can be an essay, poster, presentation, whatever", things would've gone much better.
Of course, it didn't help that both he and the subject (Pre-Algebra) were horrifically dull.
