  1. Since The Gleeman has posted actual discussion this time, I'm going to remove my vote from Humperdink and apply it to someone else. As Jain currently has four votes so far, I will put mine back on Sprenil again to try and get a response. Just flagging up though that we want a 3-vote gap if we want to lynch someone for sure. But that can be dealt with later in the day - There's no point in us going overboard so early and getting that definite majority now, or we won't get as much discussion. We have another 24 hours to discuss, after all.
  2. Wurum was rather surprised by this latest death. She was just a stablemaster, so what purpose did her death serve them? Did the Ghostbloods hold a mortal fear of horses? Then again, Ryshadium were rather terrifying up close. He'd never owned one himself, but since coming to the Shattered Plains, he'd seen a few of the mighty beasts. Perhaps the woman had held items that the Ghostbloods wanted? Though that gave him a thought. Perhaps Hatham would be selling his horses on the cheap, with his stablemaster dead? A man could make a tidy profit, if he acted carefully enough.Still no goal items lost, but we will REALLY feel the loss of that Emotion Bracelet. Frankly, I'd rather the Ghostbloods got the Reverser instead, since at least that would mean we know what we're up against and would still have the Emotion Bracelet as a way to check people out. What this means is that if we want to lynch someone now, it has to be a 3-vote majority to be sure, and 2-vote majority for a possible tie. It's a pain not knowing who Pailan's heir was so we can check, but they shouldn't speak out, since that would paint a target on their backs. I too am somewhat suspicious of Jain, but I'm willing to accept forgetting the rules innocently. Stormfather knows, I've done that enough myself (not in this game, in the previous one). What I am less willing to accept is his constant surprise at still being alive at the end of every night. It just makes me feel as though he really means 'Look, I'm still alive and I am utterly surprised by this knowledge. I am certainly not a Ghostblood going around killing people and have chosen not to target myself, I must have survived for some other reason.' Other than that though, I have few suspicions. I am still suspicious of Sprenil due to his early proclamation and then his refusal to efend himself or vote on the second. But then, there were loads of people who didn't vote on the second day - Sprenil, Alv, Ace, Humperdink, Grellin, Jain, Fnorf, Jim, Khas, Saritu (who was away) and Lucal. All save for Saritu posted in the thread. I am going to vote for Humperdink, for now, since I find the fact that the only post he made was an RP-post, and this was while voting was being discussed. If Jain or Sprenil gets enough votes to be considered for the lynch, I may change my vote to them in order to ensure the Ghostbloods do not hijack it.
  3. They didn't what? They attacked Meta. That was their night action. Or at least, that was their kill action.
  4. I don't really see how. What would you have us do instead, never lynch someone unless we knew for sure (not that we can be in this game)? It's highly unlikely we can get a Ghostblood just by lynching on the second night like that; we just don't have enough information, particularly in a game like this. What we have got from this however is important information, that both Faialen and Cara voted to confirm a lynch. True, if they hadn't voted there would be a lynch anyway due to the reverser, but it's still important information. We also know where two items have gone, and neither of them were goal items. Really, it's rather useful that Xanas did declare an heir last night, since we know where things have gone. Admittedly, so do the Ghostbloods, but still. In any case, the lynched person did not have a 'true noble' item or a goal item, so it's not particularly dangerous that we've lynched someone. We also, this time, haven't lynched someone with a role. This is incredibly important, because roles cannot be replaced. If we had to kill someone, at least we killed someone with only items. And judging from what we know of Tion's set of items, he can use them both tonight if he wishes. As such, there's no real loss of functionality either. So while we may have lost a player, it's not as if we've shot ourselves in the foot.
  5. I've no objections
  6. ...Because the Ghostbloods will definitely listen when you tell them not to screw around with your votes, right? Why won't you defend yourself, Sprenil? All that defending yourself will do is to give out information - Something that we sorely need. True, your lynch would give us information, but nowhere near as much as if you actively took part in the discussion. The only reason I can think of is that you're a Ghostblood and you're relying on your ploy early in the game to defend you, because no-one takes a player who offers to die seriously. Frankly, I find it too suspicious not to vote for you now. So so far, we still haven't heard today from Adolin/Jim Bob Dirt, this despite his name being thrown around a bit, Kasimir/Khas, Smart Guy/Saritu and Luckat/Lucal. In addition, Gleeman/Humperdink and Grey Pilgrim/Grellin Pilgras have only done RP posts, and not contributed anything to the discussion. I am somewhat suspicious of the fact that Humperdink appeared on the thread while discussions were being done, just to post an RP snippet.
  7. Don't worry Jost, there was no need for you to explain their actions there. As I said, I was never truly suspicious of you, just wanted reassurances. As such, I have removed my vote from you accordingly. Sphinx, while I doubt that they would do such a plan, it is a possibility. Indeed, I considered that he might not have been attacked at all and just taking advantage of such a situation, but I think we can assume that Shardplate-wearers know if they are attacked and that someone would have said that they were attacked instead. Considering such a thing would be flimsy to base a strategy on, we can at least assume he was definitely attacked. The idea of making him a Shardbearer in full is also suspicious. I am doubtful that the Ghostbloods would try such a tactic this early on in the game. It's possible, of course. Any strategy is possible; the more unlikely, the better. Trying this so early might be the sort of thing they could try, if the Ghostbloods have Meta of all people advising them. But the fact it was Meta who was hit makes me inclined to believe otherwise. I think they were just trying to take out an intelligent and active player.
  8. Did the loudmouthed noble really have to go and boast about such a thing? It wasn't a good thing that people hated Tion enough to want to kill him, not in Wurum's opinion. Well, it meant the Ghostbloods wouldn't be killing him, which was a benefit, but in general terms. He wouldn't go around shouting to the Heralds that he was attacked. And showing off his Shardplate like that. At least it meant that the noble was most likely safe. ...Unless he'd managed to annoy his friends in the Ghostbloods enough that they'd turned on him. Which he could definitely see happening with Tion. But that was perhaps a little too strange to be the truth. No, he might not be able to trust Tion, but he seemed to at least be on the side of the nobility. It's good that the person who was hit has come forward, since hiding that fact only helps the Ghostbloods. Unfortunately, the fact that it was Tion doesn't tell us too much, since it could just be they were going for an active player with experience. However, since no-one died, we can also assume that everyone has the same items they started with at the moment, which means our spies can possibly still discover innocence tonight (since Tors apparently had no items, and I doubt people would give them away this early in the game). My only real suspicion at this point is of Jim Bob Dirt for his rather strongly worded reply to Fnorf as to why he wouldn't vote. But there are good arguments for his Innocence. The fact that it is so strongly worded makes me feel as though he isn't evil. Unless it's a double bluff, but there wasn't really a reason for it at that time on the first day, particularly since a Ghostblood could apparently change a vote away from him. The fact that the Reverser was used on a vote for Jim Bob Dirt specifically doesn't really mean anything in my opinion; any vote could've been changed and it would have had the same effect. I think the Ghostbloods just wanted the irony of Tors' killing vote being one from himself. In fact, I doubt that the Ghostbloods would have used the Reverser on the vote of one of their own anyway, just because there was no need to. As such, I'm inclined to think of Jim as innocent. So I'm afraid that I don't really hold anyone in my sights at the moment for guilt. However, I feel we should start the actual discussion as early as possible, and so therefore I would quite like Jost to just explain why he voted along with Meta, when he advocated no kill on the first day, and his vote stopped it being a tie. No offence meant Jost, I'm just nervous about the fact that you (at least on the first day) have two people declaring you their heirs already. Would be good to have some reassurances about who they picked.
  9. I'm confused. The writeup doesn't have you voting for Awes? It has you voting for Ace.
  10. You mean Ace? If you took your vote away completely before the day was through, it could just be an error in the writeup.
  11. Wurum couldn't help but be irritated at the fact that they'd killed an Artifabrian. That could have been useful. Oh, not just because apparently there was a group of people trying to kill everyone, but on a personal level. If he'd received anything from them, it was tempting to sell them on to other people. Just because he might apparently be dead by the end of the week didn't mean he couldn't try to make a bit of a profit here. In truth, that was the only reason he was sticking around: the potential of a profit. So what if someone had died? As long as it wasn't him, he could use it. Bye Tors. I guess it was just unfortunate that you were the first on after Meta. Though I must say that the fact that your vote for 'yourself' was the deciding factor amuses me. So, was anyone specifically shooting for a tie on the first day, since the Ghostbloods have a Reverser? At least we know that information from this lynching, which is very useful.
  12. Has no one else seriously noted that Macen has potentially revealed the location of a goal item? Good job, Macen! Unless, of course, Macen is actually lying and doesn't have a Soulcaster. In which case, he's either a Ghostblood himself, trying to make himself seem innocent by claiming an item, or making himself a target. I doubt it's the latter. If we don't get confirmation about peoples' items when they claim them (and we haven't previously with Jaina's item), then it could be a clever move. If you want to choose heirs, go ahead. But there's no need to declare what item you've got. Particularly if it's a goal item. (though if only goal items are not declared, then that points it out too, so hence my suggestion we don't declare that at all). Maili, will we get confirmation on whether people have an item or not for definite? If not, then my suspicions of Macen have shot through the roof for this unnecessary declaration.
  13. Sprenil had just asked to be considered guillty. Why would he do that? Was he really guilty and trying to make people second-guess him? Was he actually innocent, and just not all there in the head? Maybe, strange as it seemed for an Alethi noble, he was trying to take the righteous route and prevent anyone else guilty being hanged. Wurum raised his hand to vote for Sprenil, just after Tion had done so. The man was rather sharp, but he seemed smart enough. Then, suddenly, Tion rounded on Tors for doing the same, and his hand shot down immediately before anyone had noticed. It seemed rather suspicious that the man was rounding on everyone like this, just for expressing their opinions. Dammit, I go to bed for the night guys, and you all manage to take the easy accusations. I'm still of the opinion that no-one is guilty enough to be lynched, but we'll never have 100% proof in this game, let alone on the first day. As such, while I don't think there is enough evidence to lynch a Ghostblood with a degree of certainty, it's enough to condemn them. It seems that Sprenil's method did what it meant to do, which was just to get people talking. I would put a vote forward for Tion, just because he's being rather aggressive in his accusations and wild vote-swinging, but it seems a bit cruel if Meta is off for the day and can't defend himself. I will vote for Jain, considering he has also claimed that he won't vote. Not voting on the first day isn't necessarily a bad thing, but only by the end of the day by everyone either nullifying their votes or forcing a tie or each lynchee having one votes. Not voting and not discussing points doesn't help anyone.
  14. Well, so far only Adolin Dustbringer/Jim Bob Dirt and Sphinx/Pailan haven't checked in. Last game, neither of them voted for the first three days. As such, not sure if we can cajole them into joining in, though we can certainly try.
  15. In all honesty, I did know my role when I posted that. I just happened to be online at the time the emails got sent, though about ten minutes later and I've have been in bed and none-the-wiser that the game had started. I was rather surprised that it started yesterday; I hadn't actually been keeping track of it. But in any case, the only reason I replied here before Maili posted that he'd sent out the emails was that I didn't know he was going to post that. If I'd known he was going to do that, and start the game officially as it were, I'd have waited that extra minute. So I feel like I've jumped the gun a bit and caused confusion which shouldn't be there.
  16. While it's true that a Grandbow is innocent as well, I'm not sure how these innocent items help us as such. They certainly don't past the first night. But then, it's difficult to find innocence in this game even on the first night if they have more than one item. If they have two items (I doubt they would have more, but maybe there will be one person. Who knows?) to start with, and we assume one is an innocent item, then the spy would have only a 50/50 chance of seeing that first night and proving it. I assume people would only start off with one innocent item, otherwise someone could possess 2/3 win conditions for the Ghostbloods all on their own. Otherwise, they'd have to try again on the second night, when we can no longer be certain of innocence due to deaths. Though by the same token, if anyone does have 2/3rds of the win conditions, they're probably a Ghostblood. Shame it'd take two nights (minimum) to find that. I doubt we'll find out precisely what items are stolen from the dead, but we could find out from Death Messages. Personally I would say that Death Messaging the exact nature of what was stolen would be in poor taste, but 'Oh, my Shard, why did you fail me!' or some other informative yet suitably fitting phrasing of your loss would be perfectly in-keeping with the nature of them. Of course, the main variable here is how many Spies we have, and thus how many people can be declared innocent. The problem here though is that - unless a Spy was lucky enough to get a Spanreed with their role, or gets messaged by their first target in an extraordinary bout of luck - they can't build up a base of power behind the scenes. As such, I'd probably expect us to either have a large number of Spies to counter this, or just one because it's not so important this game. I think the Spanreeds are going to be our main weapon here. EDIT: I made this post assuming that Shardplate was safe as well. Just looked at the list and it turns out that it isn't. So I wouldn't be surprised if someone had 2/3rds the win conditions in the form of a full Shardbearer (it was the fact that this logic wouldn't give us one that made me think about it) or a Shardplate and Soulcaster, since that's not so useful for the Ghostbloods and makes it harder for them to win. EDIT2: That'll teach me to read the rules more fully. Full Shardbearers are explicitly a possible role someone can get. Though I suppose that it's not definite that we start off with one.
  17. The king was dead. That was bad. Terrible, even. Of course, the assassination of any noble was bad, particularly the king. But this was especially bad, considering Wurum was going to try to met with him just the next day to discuss trading rights to some of the produce his family's few remaining lands produced. "Who did this?!" He asked, eyeing each and every person he came across. It was difficult not to take this whole thing rather personally. It was practically his family's last chance. Maybe it was one of his family's rivals? Not that it narrowed the choice down too much. ...He was just being paranoid. Of course the king wouldn't have been killed because of the possibility of a trading deal. It was a vain idea. Something the Ardents would frown upon. He shouldn't think like that. But even so, the king had been killed. Murdered. Assassinated. They couldn't let this just stand, not after they came here to get vengeance for another king. He'd get revenge on whoever it was, just because of the insult to his family. But no matter how he thought about the fact that his king had been killed, he couldn't shake the nagging, selfish feeling in the back of his head. One day. Could they not have waited one storming day!?
  18. While it's tempting to remain the same just for ease of use, I think Wurum is better for a Roshar character. Means I can use Wurm later on as well.
  19. I think the fact that everyone could do something - Enter the Lottery - ironically made it seem as though people had less to do? Because rather than think 'I have a chance to do something interesting at night later on in the game', it felt more like 'I need to get more Breath in order to be useful'. Even as a Returned, and hence having a semi-unique role, I felt there was little to do at night other than enter the Breath Lottery (and claim various reasons for not saving the people who died to Claincy), particularly since I was in no PM groups at all, being a new player, and thus didn't use the time to plot either. I definitely felt as though I was waiting for my numbers of Breaths to become useful, but after the game finished, I can see that I was looking at it the wrong way at the time.
  20. It occurs to me that Wurum is a more Brighteyed name. Guess my utterly asymmetrical name shows how far my house has fallen
  21. I am highly amused that Aonar was not protected by Alan once
  22. Aili, you force my death and then use my body to protect yourself? You're so rude
  23. Brightlord Wurm, the nervous, youngest and, more importantly, only remaining son of House Heron will gladly answer this call to service. His family was once great, but a combination of gambling, ill-fortune and headstrong sons dueling their lives and Shards away has meant that the branch house has falling into such great decline that he is practically a Brightlord in title only. As such, he is here to answer the call - not that he has much choice. If another Brightlord says jump, Wurm does so without even asking. But if there's any way he can win a Shardblade (or at least make a lot of money) out of this and restore his fallen family back into prominence, he'll gladly take part in this deadly game. If I'd known that I'd be joining these sort of games, I'd have picked a username which shortens and nicknames easier... damnation you Herowannabe! That's half my easy nicknames gone already! Also, the Ghostbloods can only take a maximum of three actions a night, I see? One kill and two others? Is that right? Why the restriction this game?
  24. Dammit Alan! You could've at least survived with my Breath until the end!
