    Trappers still had preconcieved notions about the water and there would likely still be many dangers there. After all, in Patji, there are more dangers than the (land shadows? Deaththingys?). At least, that is my theory.

    I would actually argue that the trappers would consider the sea mostly indefinetly deep, because they might not have all the technology to properly go down there yet.

    I think we should consider that it was said (somewhere in there) that although Scadrial considers itself the most technically advanced, Invention (A shard we don't know much of yet) has the most technologically advanced planets (which makes sense). And I am just glad that we got some knowledge of Invention.
