  1. The best answer in this thread. We need to normalize that if Kal and Syl decide on a romantic relationship, it won't "harm" or "contaminate" anything.
  2. This. And let us remember that in classical literature there are many examples of interspecies relationships (humans with elves/dwarves, beauty and the beast). And in science fiction we have Star Treek.
  3. The problem is not whether she likes the book or not, but the "argument" she gave about the Kaladin and Szeth part, which missed the mark in everything she said. And she was the one who spoke the most in that segment, which was half an hour long.
  4. In fact, her criticism of Kaladin and Szeth's part was an outrage.
  5. Yes, I think it's a thing of this site. For example, I spend more time on Twitter, and for the cosmere community in Spain, Latin America and Brazil, and the consensus is that it's a wonderful book.
  6. The mental health journey is important. We've already had 4 books where Kaladin has a lot of action. So I liked Sanderson's approach to Kaladin in this book. What Kaladin accomplishes in Shinovar is more important than what Azir accomplishes, in my opinion.
  7. Kal with Chana? That would be garbage. I'm not up for another Kal off-panel relationship. Sanderson has 2 options, Kaladin without a partner because he could still be happy, or Kaladin with Syl, who are soulmates. As the guy above said, there were many parts of the book that point to Kal and Syl being something more. Syl becoming Kal's scribe, Renarin and Drehy's conversation about romance and that we are all people, I don't remember the chapter but there is a mention of some sprens getting married, the dance scene. There was a lot of Syladin flirting. If we have humans dating kandras, Tavanast had a dragon as a partner, then a human (now a herald) and the spren queen having a romance shouldn't be far-fetched.
  8. If I remember that, it bothers me a little, I thought they would have 80 years to live everything. Their son could be a Gohan (Dragon Ball). A hybrid
  9. I think we'll see a child of Kaladin and Syl in the second arc
  10. You made a good summary of how excellent the book is.
  11. The thing about Kaladin and Shallan's thoughts didn't make much noise to me. After all, Kaladin and Syl are almost married, that's what matters.
  12. What a masterful way to end Stormlight arc 1. It's been quite a ride Wind and Truth. Szeth and Kaladin's storyline has been my favorite. Their journey through the temples of Shinovar has been mystical. Adolin's storyline in Azimir has been spectacular. And Dalinar and Navani's journey through the Spirit Realm is a tremendous addition to the story of Roshar and the Cosmere. The Stormlight Archive is consolidated as a masterpiece of epic fantasy literature. Thanks a lot Sanderson PS: Long live King Kaladin and Queen Syl
  13. When I was first reading Mistborn, it gave me vibes of reading a shonen nekketsu. And I loved that.
  14. "Sanderson is leaning more into anime culture than prose." I find that an arrogant opinion. As a consumer of manga/anime and video games, I think it's great that Sanderson takes elements from those media. It makes him more versatile. Even in Japanese and Chinese light novels and webnovels you can find good stories. Prejudices always exist. We as fantasy readers are sometimes singled out by some elitist saying that fantasy is not real literature. Then you see Nobel Prize winners in literature that are a joke.
  15. I think that more than fanservice moments, they are slife of life moments. And that's okay because there will be a lot of drama later. I think there are people who want everything to be Grimdark, and Sanderson is not that kind of writer. I don't think the Syladin is so popular to be considered fanservice, but it has all the build and development to be more than friends/partners. Hopefully Sanderson isn't afraid of success.
