    Berin, if he weren’t acting, would have narrowed his eyes. The person did not have to flip the oar over… it seemed more practical to use the flat of the oar, as it was already near the water. They notice it too. They appear closer to the center of his eyesight than normal, one even appearing close enough to apparently inspect the oar. But they can’t see anything he can’t. They’re just… better at picking out what isn’t needed.

    Berin looks at the boat, reanalyzing the blood. Maybe he was jumping to conclusions. He could see him in the corner of his eyes, shaking his head.

    Berin’s eyes narrow just slightly as he sees a slight discoloration. One he knew quite well. “Maybe he didn’t hear us. Let’s get in the water. I’ll call again there.” Berin looks back and widens his eyes. “They’ve gotta be better than what’s out there, right?” Berin slightly pets his Aviar, Madness. “Three Aviars, wow! I bet he found some of them out there.” Berin is silently thanking his luck. That he could deal with a strong competitor and a weak one this early in the game, before they started getting sponsors…

    I screech, spittle flying from my face, then grow four claw-like arms, which pin you down. Forgot about this side of me, didn’t you?

    The two emerged from the jungle, reaching the shore. Just off of it, Berin noticed a second person in a kayak. He widened his eyes. “I guess we’ll have to go out there and meet them, right? We don’t want any beasts after us.”
