  1. I think it's something similar to how something like Iron is not a mixture or solution of Helium or Hydrogen, but if you broke it apart, you could use the individual components (protons and neutrons) to make Helium and Hydrogen. My theory is supported by the fact that Trellium-induced splitting of Harmonium causes a reaction similar to a nuclear explosion.
  2. Even harmony is maintaining the status quo
  3. Mercy-Ruin would be such a terrifying shard combo. Kill everyone so they can't suffer more later.
  4. I picked Devotion because I think it would work with me. Invention I also liked, but I rejected it because being pushed to invent at all costs I don't feel is great. Reason I like more, but it also feels unemotional. I think it would transform a bearer into something a bit like Taravangian, but without emotion. Mercy is my least favorite of the most popular because I feel it would be prohibitive when something needs to be done. It would force you to continuously give people second chances and not hold people responsible. Of course the other direction is bad, but absolute "Mercy" seems worse
  5. Preservation is like the shard where you don't exactly want it, but it is much preferable to Ruin or Odium
  6. Interesting, the shard people would like to possess is fairly varied, but everyone is pretty much against having Ruin/Odium/Dominion
  7. Devotion and Reason both feel like they would work with my temperament and also both feel like they would not be super evil.
  8. My opinion is: Does Vin hold preservation? Y->Vin wins N->Vin gets old and dies
  9. Do we know if they actually died or were just teleported to the SR?
  10. The only interesting part of AJATPOE (wow, that's a terrible acronym) is the annotations
  11. I feel the same way, except Bands of Mourning was really good.
  12. Books aren't ordered within tiers S 1. The Way of Kings 2. Oathbringer 3. Hero of ages 4. Tress and the Emerald Sea 5. A Memory of Light wait no, that's not cosmere, stop A 1. The Final Empire 2. Words of Radiance 3. Rhythm of War 4. Elantris 5. The Bands of Mourning 6. The Alloy of Law B 1. Wind and Truth 2. The sunlit man 3. Shadows of Self 4. Yumi and the Nightmare Painter 5. Dawnshard 6. The Lost Metal C 1. Warbreaker 2. Shadows for silence in the forests of hell 3. Sixth of the Dusk 4. Mistborn: Secret history 5. The Emperor's soul 6. Edgedancer 7. Arcanum Unbounded(as a whole) 8. Well of Ascension with Hero of Ages preview in the back. D 1. White Sand(prose, I haven't read graphic novel) 2. Well of Ascension 3. The Eleventh Metal 4. Allomancer Jak and the Pits of Eltania, Episodes Twenty Eight through Thirty 5. The Hope of Elantris
  13. I mean, Rashek originally made 16 inquisitors.
  14. Isn't Yumi and the Nightmare Painter chronologically much later then WaT?
  15. Still though, Kelsier giving up the shard ia very relevant to the discussion they're having.
  16. That makes it sound like there was an Ascension. I think it's probable that the only people who know Kelsier ascended are himself, Sazed, and maybe Spook
  17. I wonder what Hoid would think of Kelsier if he knew that, considering that he was the only one besides Hoid who gave up/turned down a shard that didn't immediately die.
  18. Why would they even have a supreme court? I don't believe anything like this has ever been mentioned by Jasnah or in other governments. If there is anything like it, I suspect it might be like Finland, where the Parliament is explicitly superior to the court. I'm fairly sure the concepts of three branches or checks and balances past the monarch don't really exist on Roshar.
  19. Recommendation: Add forests that block archers and make cavalry slower there.
  20. I'm not sure if that's the fault of the authoritarian regimes being more recent, but instead of the global backsliding in democracy. As an American, we've had democracy for a while, and we're about to inaugurate a rapist and a fascist...for the second time....
  21. I mean, Preservation could listen and Ruin could talk
  22. We have had some form of democracy for far longer than a few hundred years.
  23. I suspect that aluminum would stop Retribution from reclaiming the stormlight, so it might be possible that a very few spheres still exist.
  24. Magic already worked everywhere. It was just hard to get it offworld. Before Retribution, Axindweth used Feruchemy. It was just hard to get offworld. I think shardplate is just different now than it was. Aux is probably not dead in WaT, but dies later, offscreen, probably related to the Dawnshard.
