It is really hard to choose. I am looking forward to them all but Stormlight and Hood's story are high on my list, though it would be awesome if he could do them all extra fast. Maybe he get Wayne to help him out with a speed bubble- more time for him to write!

I think the quote from WoR is a solute in this discussion regarding whether Sylph can have a spren

I don't think the last statement is right. A breath cannot move of its own, does not have variety, doesn't fit to every thing in nature. All to say soreness have much more variety though only a fraction of them such as honorspren actually grant magical opera like breaths. I believe also that the interaction of nightblood and a shardblade would be neutral, as both are great magical objects of their worlds. Further, night loos could be comparable in power as he is able to similarily effect the spirit of those he kills though he also deals physical ddamage. Nightblood seems to be able to absorb magic (breaths) and it could be possible that he could steal different magical such as stormlight. He seems to be alive though judging that he can converse and think, almost like honorspren would be able to, though he still retains that impression on thoughts by his I te t even as honorspren are by Honor giving interesting quirks and paths of thinking.

Szeth could not of killed Gas. He was told to kill as many as possible like in the prologue. Something g would have circulated about a slaughter of people with burned out eyes. Further, as said before what importance could he hold that Taravangian would know of, a lowly bridge!sergeant with debts. He could have held important secrets or be part of a group like the ghostbloods, but if he were high enough in any groups' standings he would not be afraid of things such as being made a Bridgman's.

A doubt about difference between dun & infused spheres.
Oathbringer replied to harry31j97's topic in Stormlight Archive
Yes they are equally valuable, but infused spheres confirm they are in fact gemstones and also they are useful for the purpose of lighting in buildings (or for those with surge binding powers). Moneychangers charge more for infused spheres as they have create safe area for them to weather a highstorm, and many see the usefulness of having their "loose change" for illumination -
Where is the Plate and Blade
Oathbringer replied to Glaring at the Survivor's topic in Stormlight Archive
Certainly there are many plates and blades missing. In The Way of Kings it is said that Athelkar and jah keved hold only 80 together and all other kingdoms another 40. Assuming that other nations hid their numbers, it could be double or triple. Maybe about 240 or even 360. However shards must somewheres. At Dalinar's vision at feverstone keep, with only 2 orders(and probably not even all of those orders) these knights radiant held at least 300 meaning that if each order were that same size then there must be at least 1500 shardbearers. That is a lot missing. It is unlikely that all of these were lost. As far as we know they cannot be fully destroyed, and kingdoms at this present time and previpsly desire them and will have searched for them. I think something that could be likely is that many of them left their shards in hied n bases of the KR or places such as Uritheru(sorry sp). Further, it seems that certain organizations such as the ghostbloods hold shards and even possibly some in the ardentia as they have soulcasters after all. However I doubt that these groups have a thousand shards hidden and that. They are able to keep it a secret.- 7 replies

It seems unlikely that the shardblade was what damaged the soulcaster. They seem to cause great swaths of damage, and the only damage to the soulcaster is a broken chain and one of the gemstones settings being damaged. Further, as she says that the shardblade was the fruit of her greatest sin she might not have had it yet, or even so, regardless, she woe not have trained with the blade and if she caused accidental damage to the soulcaster it would most likely be catastrophic. Not to just two grazing marks.

My take, very good magic system, able to understand it and what is done. Great read. Quite big, but worth it. I enjoyed it a lot, and I enjoyed the ending. I would recommend it to almost any who love fantasy.

What's YOUR Talent?
Oathbringer replied to Silus - Shard of Flame's topic in Alcatraz Versus the Evil Librarians
One of my favorites would be throwing with incredibly bad aim, but at the same time having incredibly good aim at something entirely different. -
Personally, a real-time Rithmatist game would be great, it would probably work best on a tablet (like kindle or ipad), so that there is enough room. It might also work for touch computers or other game consoles with a touch pad like a ds. It would be amazingly awesome though to do it online one-on-one, melee style, or group against wild chalklings. I don't think gemcraft type would work, then it couldn't really be multiplayer.

Yeah, I think it was a really good idea to hide many spare metalminds so that he could live if captured from many things (but not repetitive shooting, say torture) and that people aren't sure how many he has to cause errant estimation. I would say it isn't hemalurgy because any mention would have been stomped out by all mistings/mistborns or feruchemists, with no more inquisitors to exercise it, not only would secrets be lost but the afore mentioned groups would not want to be targets of groups which wish for the powers of allomancy and feruchemy.

God King and Lord Ruler have synonymous titles
Oathbringer replied to Brassmind's topic in Cosmere Discussion
I guess, the names are similar, but the names give a totally different view of the. For the Lord Ruler, he is essentially a tyrant, who controls all things, but is just a man with special abilities (except when he tapped the well of ascension). Whereas the God King is actually enthroned by his own people, and is human in form, but the returned have powers totally separate from normal people and awakeners, not only being increased in breath with the divine breath but having the ability to change form. In conclusion the source of their title is different, how they are viewed is different (people revere the God King, few do so to the Lord Ruler), and the title confers different meanings (absolute Authority--Lord Ruler, Enthroned divinity--God King). -
It seems from what we know of feruchemy the storage of a metalmind does not degenerate over time, otherwise the Terris Keppers would have to start buying some conspicuously big earrings to store all the information. On the point of them dying I am not completely sure but I would say that once the person dies there abilities in minds would disappear or something to that effect as no one else can access them it might be possible that other people could use the metalmind as if empty even though others have things stored in it as if empty already.

That's interseting, Brandoon seems to slip in references from other books into Alcatraz at times, apparently as jokes, if you see the topic also in Alcatraz about one of Quentin's gibberish phrases

I believe that nightblood works to take the breaths of others because by his given command 'destroy evil' he will kill those who are evil, by using his sentience to overpower their own minds, as seen in the fact that the people wielding nightblood tend to be terrorstricken with the exception of Vasher. The taking of other people's breaths is probably a part of nightblood's sentience knowing that it gives him more strength and ability to complete his command, giving him more power to persuade people to take him up.

It seems that the pool has many powers not fully explained. Two of which are: 1. It allows Elantrians to die if they so wish (painlessly) 2. It is able to speak into the minds of Elantrians which are in it, possibly connecting it to the shards of Sel

Having read through TWoK several times I can describe the information on the Heralds as sketchy at best. Out of the 10 I believe only half are named directly and the name of the name varies on the teller. For example in the prologue the heralds are Kalak and Jezrien whereas in the prologue they are called Kelek and Jezerezeh. This is obviously due to the gap in time or change of language. However, if one looks at the ARS Arcanum one notes there are ten essences each with a name /number which seems to correlate to the name or names of a herald. Using this theory, the 9th essence Tanat would depict Talenel or Talenelat (again different names, same herald). So where is this all headed? Shalash. What? As Szeth is passing one of the corridors he notes a row of statutes depictig the heralds of Vorin theology. However, Szeth notes that one of the heralds is missing. Why would this be inserted? If it was just to introduce culture or religion, why would one be missing? Furthermore why explain that Szeth thinks it odd since Gavillar is a devout Vorin constituent? Question: Why is Shalash's statue missing? I have entertained ideas that he could have been the Herald to suggest breaking the Oathpact but am uncertain. However, before Gavillar died he was big on the Way of Kings and this could have been the reason that Gavillar removed the statue. I believe something in the book caused him to remove the statue as there would be no other alternative I can see for removing Shalash's statue. Why is this important? Dalinar is following Gavillar's footsteps by reading the WoK. So one could assume that he will come to the same conclusion of his brother. This could prove to be even more significant if the Oath pact is reestablished which seems somewhat likely seeing Dalinar leading like Jezrien or Kaladin protecting like Jezrien and healing like Vav or Shallan/Jasnah being learned like Nan even Szeth correlates to Chach who is brave and obedient. This brings up the additional discussion of whether or not there were female Heralds. I would say yes since on the opening inside cover you see ten faces surrounding the border of Roshar and the Hourglass of Vorin Theology and some are definitely feminine. Does any of this indicate that Shalash was acting under Odium's influence to break up the Oathpact? ?? That is pure speculation, but again why would Gavillar exclude Shalash one of his "gods." Additionally, along the lines of heralds the hourglass depicts 10 major symbols which I believe correlate to an essence, a herald, and a Dawnblade. If you look at the front cover of the hard bound book one notes a blade. The hilt of this blade corresponds to one of the major symbols on the inside of the front cover which leads me to the conclusion that the major symbols are Dawnblades and the minor ones correspond to different types of Shardblades and plates respectively. Also, I find it odd that the back cover of the book says there are 4 for whom we watch when this world seems to based off of tens. Is it possible that these four will join into the Oathpact to bring the number to 5 which also appears in the book. Indirectly related to the Heralds is Gavillar's final words to Dalinar through Szeth "you must find the most important words a man can say." This could be interpreted as a reference to the WoK, the creed of the Knights Radiant, the next book WoR, or a combination. I believe it refers to all of three, specifically in context of the next book. Dalinar-- where does his supernatural use of shards come from? ex. fighting the chasmfiend. The only conclusion I can come to is the Old Magic which will if true certainly come to fruition in the next book. And as a side point why would Dalinar visit the Old Magic later in life since it occurred after the death of his wife. Who knows? It is all speculation from here. Hope this post has been interesting or helpful. My ,main points are with the Heralds and correlating them to characters and essences as well as the lack of Shalash.
