  1. This was my original thought. If Feruchemy works by storing Investiture in pieces of metal, with the effect stored affected by the structure of the metal, then it seems like having another type of Investiture (especially if it was already keyed to you) could still work because the metal would tell the Breath how to behave. Isn't this essentially how compounding works? The metal you burn is charged Feruchemically, so when you burn the metal, the flood of Investiture from the SR takes on the Feruchemical properties. I guess it might take a little bit of charge in the metalmind to provide a mold for the Breath (think tinminds storing separate senses), but that should still be possible (if maybe a little harder). Does everything I've said sound right? Do I have a fundamental flaw in my understanding of Feruchemy? Thanks for being patient with me!
  2. Okay, follow-up question. If you put your Breath in a piece of metal and tried to use it as a metalmind... would that work? That seems like it would maybe work: the Investiture is already keyed to you... Thoughts?
  3. What would happen if you stored your Breaths in a piece of metal, then burned that metal Allomantically? Would the Breaths dissipate, becoming unusable? Would you get them back? Or... would we see something similar to compounding? My friend asked this question, and it's been a while since my last reading of Warbreaker. I couldn't find this question anywhere, so I'm asking it!
  4. I would probably choose Thaylena. The science and culture there fascinates me, and I think it would be cool to try to learn a writing system with no vowels.
  5. No problem! Oh, and I also read (and loved) Legion.
  6. Yeah, I read the Alcatraz series a while ago, I've read the Reckoners, the Skyward series, the Rithmatist, and I just finished The Frugal Wizard's Handbook etc.
  7. I've read The Hobbit/Lord of the Rings/The Silmarillion, most of Brandon's other books, quite a bit of Isaac Asimov's books, Dune books 1-3... and a lot more, but those are some of the highlights!
  8. Hey guys! My name is MindMeltingMistwraith... don't ask where that came from, it kind of just spontaneously exited my brain. I'm currently a High Schooler with too much time on my hands. I love playing games (board games, card games, video games, you name it!), love math (yep, I'm a nerd (as if my presence on this website wasn't enough evidence (or the fact that I used triple parenthesis))), love computer programming and (of course) love to read. I remember back when I was just a little guy, and the world building and magic system of Harry Potter blew my mind. Fast forward to my 14th birthday, when I got the Mistborn trilogy as a gift. The next day we went on a long car ride... and I spent the ENTIRE time reading. I finished book one the next day, and was hooked on the Cosmere. As it currently stands, I've read everything Cosmere except for White Sand. I read part one but got swamped with schoolwork before I could keep going. If you asked me what my favorite book is, I would just say the entire Cosmere. I've done a little personal speculation on the Cosmere, and I'm super excited to be a part of this community!
  9. The way Hoid seems to Connect to just about every known Shard is a little suspicious, but recombining them all into one doesn't really sound like Hoid to me. I personally speculate that he might be working for a Cosmere-wide unity or something. By spreading knowledge of the Cosmere, he would forge Connections between different cultures and people... (Sunlit Man spoilers) That's just me, though, totally up for personal interpretations!
  10. Kaladin will seek to flee Roshar through lashing himself into space over and over again, crash-land on Scadrial, and rename himself Kelsier.
  11. I definitely see what you're saying. It does feel weird that some Arts have verb forms while others don't... but at the same time, I think it's just an English thing. While some instances of "verbing" nouns (like "verbed") work just fine, others just don't. You don't "science," you do science. In the same way, you don't "Allomance" or "Hemalurge," (as funny as Hemalurge is), you "use Allomancy" and "use Hemalurgy." Hope that was clear, my brain gets a little scrambled sometimes.
  12. Ah, okay. Thanks for setting me straight! It's been a bit since my last reread.
  13. Kind of curious now... could the Lord Ruler have been influenced by Autonomy? Seems a little far-fetched because Scadrial already was dishardic... but the way technology completely halted seems like the kind of thing Autonomy would do. Maybe I'm just grasping at threads, but I'll definitely be thinking about this more.
  14. Thank you so much, this is exactly what I've been thinking ever since reading about Dawnshards! I wonder if the four Commands aren't the only things determining Shardic Intent. My personal theorizing has involved grouping each Shard into two categories: the Shard's Command and the Shard's Intent group. As it stands now, I have the four Commands as Change, Remain/Connect, Feel, and Think/Reason, with the four Intent groupings as Order, Chaos, Control, and Freedom. An example of how this could categorize Shards: Ruin has the Command to Change with the Intent of Chaos, Preservation has the Command to Remain/Connect with the intent of Order. They're opposites in the sense that both their Command and Intent are opposites. Some other groupings that line up nicely include Honor as Think/Reason with an Intent of Order, Odium as Feel with an Intent of Chaos, and Cultivation as Change with an Intent of Order. These are just my personal speculations, and there are definitely some holes with this theory, but that's where I'm at right now. Also, this is my first post LOL.
