  1. White Sand Spoilers:

    Spoiler

The only other themes from Shards I can see are the various ways Autonomy fuels her magics from afar; she does so autonomously. For instance, In White Sand, the sand must be in the presence of sunlight to recharge; a completely autonomous reaction. (Or, as we would say in Chemistry, favorable at equilibrium.)

Have you put your papers in yet?  Any idea where you're going to be headed?

Fukuoka Japan! I am extraordinarily blessed!

In other words, I like your style

I appreciate that! Having read dozens of your additions to this website, know I feel much the same towards you.

Never read Downton Abbey, though. Sorry. I'm more of a Jane Austen fan.

  3. Hello, my spirit brothers and sisters of God! As it is the most efficient and certain way to gain heavenly knowledge in this mortal sphere, I was converted to this glorious gospel my merit of its truth long ago! My mission approaches, and I will be unable to speak to you during that duration, but regardless, it heartens me to see such strong identities remaining true to their faith even online! Truly, your sharing spirit and love for others will bring many more people to the work!

Ress forwards, Saints, with steadfast faith in Christ!

Let the Love of Christ light your lives!

    The Ultimate Archivist,

Foremost of scholars among mortal men, but utterly insignificant before the glory of God and his Christ.

  4. Welcome! Tell me, 'twere you a mage, what would be you chosen element? Please note you are not limited to the Four Elements; there are many more. Be creative! Unless you truly like one of the Four Elements and then you're good.

  5. I belive we continue to gloss over the obvious effects of a Fullborn. We've only seen one; he lived for a thousand years and was unkillable by everyone except for one drawing on an entire Shard's power. There are no more Fullborns, but if they made one Band of Mourning, they can make more. (Especially if Harmony is heading towards Discord and going to allow all sorts of wacky things to happen.)

I'm sorry, but with as powerful as Fullborns are from their infinite compounding, I doubt anything short of a Harmonium-Trellium Reduction Reaction will kill them. It is entirely feasible in my mind that as long as there are enough Bands of Mourning, the Scadrians could take even Urithiru. The Scadrians have the advantage in technology, numbers, (There are dozens of Mistings for each Knight Radiant, although who knows how this will change in the future. Everyone knows Shardbearers can't hold ground) and Sazed. Sazed and his two Shards could be their biggest advantage. We just don't know how Discord is going to work.

    Just my take. Nothing more.

Concur - even if I doubt it could cure anything. . . it might help. If you could find a fabrial design (attractor, augmentor, diminisher, etc) to interface correctly with a Cognitive Aspect.

Although I do wonder if you could use a healing fabrial attuned to a Spiritual Aspect in some way to do this. After all, they often describe madness as "cracks in the soul." Could it be possible for a specific fabrial (or really any investiture mechanic, really) to fill in or close up those cracks, maybe even just temporarily?

    Just a thought.

  7. Ah, I see. From the WoBs and their greater lack of definite information, I'm going to assume that if I asked Brandon this question, I would recieve RAFO. Thanks for the opinions and clarification, your insight is vastly appreciated!

If you're after a discussion, the best place is the cosmere discussion, not the q and a.

I am aware. This is definitely a question; it is simply more broad than a typical one. Thank you!

  8. I welcome you to our haven of study and focus, where we (or at least I) seek to rectify gaps in our knowledge through companionship and sharing! Tell me, 'twere you a mage, which of the elements would you choose to manipulate?

That deadeyes are stuck in a transitionary state, just like Elantrians were!  The influence of Ba-Ado-Mishram is necessary for spren to fully transition (or for bonds to fully be severed, perhaps) when their bonds are broken.

I have a question; what are your thoughts on how Mayalaran is regaining consciousness? Not an accusation or anything, I'm just curious as to how you rationalize that. Bo-Ado-Mishram is still trapped. How do you propose that Mayalaran is reawakening through the lens of your theory?

I do like the idea. The sense of an Investiture "plug" is successful, as we've seen in Elantris. If this is true, I would love to see how it plays out.

  10. We know that anyone can burn Lerasium.

    But do we?

So far, the only Non-Scadrian we've seen ingest and burn Lerasium is Hoid. We know that when Preservation and Ruin created humanity, Preservation Invested humanity with just a little bit more, presumably to allow them to Preserve more than they Ruin. This grants them Allomancy, unless I am misinformed.

However, we've also seen this surplus Investiture siphoned off by the Set to partially invest a Hemalurgic Spike, which means that all people have at least some Preservation in them as long as they are from Scadrial.

My question is this; can only Scadrians burn Lerasium because of the innate Preservation within them? (I don't count Hoid because we already know he wouldn't let something like insufficient Connection stop him from gaining Allomancy.) Otherwise, can people from other worlds burn Lerasium? Also, if off-worlders cannot burn Lerasium, how would this relate to the inexplicable ability of the Malwish Consortium to create metalminds that anyone can tap? Perhaps they are using that same bit of Investiture.

    Thoughts?

So this is somewhat vague based on what universe I'm a wizard in. Are we going by Elder Scrolls wizardry rules? If so, tonal architecture. The idea that certain sound waves have a magical effect on the world, even something surface level as the Thu'um is compelling to me. But Dwemer style tonal architecture is what I'm thinking. Are we going by DnD rules? Conjuration because summoming items is still OP. Is just a four elements system? Then wind, because then my wizard staff could have a wind vane on top.

Whichever rules you desire. Skyrim/Elder Scrolls works fine; you would be a Phonomancer, like me!
