    Rebus’s definition of important certainly counted him - he was being written by an Author, and that was enough. “Your world would be part of my empire - I would leave its state up to you, given its uniqueness, and give you a few planets I have already turned to nanomachines to govern and perhaps serve as god to. Your citizens would know who I am, and potentially - again, I am less likely to interfere with a unique world - would be given opportunities or obligations to help the empire as a whole. Your expectations, and rewards, would differ depending upon what role you desire - you could choose anything from giving up sovereignty to me completely, to remaining mostly independent, to serving as the ruler - under me - of many planets, to running a specific function throughout my entire empire.” Cursed Treasure continued to smoke, whimpering in Lezterp’s mind. The channel through which Lezterp had fed power in the past began to tug at him, needing a bond.

I have some - it may be a method to truly defeat the gods that defy you.”

    “I was a poor Avatar at the time - once I started to develop characterization, I realized I would cease to exist if that continued to be my personality and role. This fight is predetermined - you should know that.” That was odd - Rebus was manipulating it manually, with nanomachines. Trying another tactic, he latched on to the fireball, stopping it in place and feeding it more power, filling the air with smoke. Rebus would not suffocate - Aeon might. The darkness was warm, for some reason - almost like a heat lamp. The shadow it cast was warm too, though that was still illuminated by other light. Rebus appeared, wearing his armor and crown. “I am not offended by truth, even if it is a criticism of my morality. I gave up the opportunity for a flawless public image when I claimed Antagonist.” He then turned to Axzi, the man some saw as a god. Rebus knew that experience, though at this point those who called him one were almost right. Rebus had a friendly smile, in contrast to the wickedly pointed and darkly glowing crown he worn. “As others have told you, I am not necessarily a good soul. That does not mean I will bring destruction, however; I consider myself intelligent, and bringing the downfall of one’s own domain is an action that does not befit that description. What I offer is power in exchange for swearing allegiance to me, and yet more resources should one wish to truly manage a section of my empire. Should a place I claim be unique and useful, I leave it as it is, while places that would be improved I have been transforming into nanomachines.” Cursed Treasure is a little broken at the moment - it basically needs to latch on to someone’s soul after what Rebus did.

    You could use Connection and Identity as the power source (or, rather, the mechanism through which the actual power source determines where to go), using the ideas and thoughts of others about your deeds and reputation.

    Alor is intentionally far away, maybe in the outer section of the Cosmere. I’m not sure in which direction - I think for the time being it should be hit late, and we can figure out which actual direction it is in later.

    It’s interesting, though I do not know how to do so. Ah, but you see; I’m on my phone. Once I get home for the weekend, though, I’ll have time and my computer.

    Invention examined their system, relatively pleased. Invention sighed, for many reasons. “I would prefer not to get more involved, but I agree that it seems necessary. Both Valor, and sadly combat.”

    Rebus smiled. He had found one logical weakness - all he had to do now was implement it. As for the fireball, it hit the area of time-frozen air and immediately ceased to exist, having encountered temperatures logically at nearly absolute zero. This did not work - the purple was purple for only the briefest moment. This should be a hint - I’m assuming you’re talking about the cloud of blackness or Whan, not the bird. The bird would be purple, but nobody would be able to tell. Rebus nodded. “I’d considered that. That was my role, in the beginning.” Rebus chose a planet he was terraforming into nanomachines - his turf, nearly free of potential collateral damage. “That is excellent, though I’m sure you’d understand a change in my offer given the possibility of further ‘consideration’. I will hear you out.” “I’m searching for a ciphered text, but anything like ancient languages would likely also contain interesting information.” He grinned briefly. “You or your companions being unable to read it would be a good benchmark - if it does turn out to be useful to you I can give the translation back.”

    "Ay. I want to see if this crop is good enough to help. See em a few quests." “That sounds like a good plan. I was looking at the medium ones - the simplest quests have already been taken, but I think I could help with the nightmares specifically.” Endikey was almost finished with his stew. @Argenti

    Endikey gulped behind his hood. “I’m not sure I’m qualified to help, but I wish I could.”

    Endikey chewed his bread for a second, then dipped it back into the soup and answered. “Money. Experience. Maybe even fame. And you?”

    Will nodded. “I assumed so,” he said, then got up to follow.

    Rebus nodded. “Do you remember what I tasked you with?” Ah. Rebus had his nanomachines consume the meteor, then dissipate into a cloud. Meanwhile, he began manipulating the air around him, forming a vacuum then making it larger and larger. Rebus picked up the sandwich, hand bursting alight with light and darkness. “You thought you were only giving me a physical object, didn’t you?” It was warm within whatever it was Whan did, but otherwise it seemed the same as the outside. The bird, for obvious reasons, could not see.

    Endikey took it, and tipped an expected amount. He was running low on funds, but the amount the quests pay would be enough to maintain this. That witch sounded like a problem - he would hopefully be able to save those children, if he found one or two companions.

    You’re right - most of the others are much more erratic. We should name our system, and my planet - I will think.

    Will nodded, writing down one last note. “When?”

    Rebus, though unsure where Nullite had come from, was fairly certain he could survive such an impact. His armor burst alight with black and white patterns, shifting and roiling. I need a bond. Cursed Treasure was speaking quickly in Lezterp’s head, baffled and frantic. I’m not supposed to need a bond, but I need a bond. Rebus smiled. “Perhaps. Are you ready, then?”

    Rebus almost laughed, sending a spear of utility fog - practically a railgun round - at the falling rock. Was the meteor made from anything normal, it would be blown to bits or even sent back out to orbit. “Perfect defense makes for an uninteresting battle. I could destroy myself several times over, if I needed to.”

    Good, then - we may have to do a little to keep it stable, but it will make an excellent orbit. Invention observed the planet, and their own. There was little life left on the remains of Yolen (assuming that is that which this is), and there had never been any on the barren landscape of cooling rock and settling dust Invention had created. Invention attempted, in vain, to bring Whimsy back to the serious topic at hand. Once the frivolous Shard remembered why the meeting had been called, though, Invention agreed with all the points. “Diplomacy is not my strong suit. People are one of the few things I do not understand, even now.”
