Out of the dissolved pieces, two faint images appeared. A man and a spren. They nodded toward Cassian, then faded away. Red was no more.

Red the Shardchicken saw what was happening. A crying boy. A crying father. People dying. And he remembered. Remembered moments dodging attacks. Facing betrayal. Facing darkness. Moments at the edge of a cliff, screaming at the sky. He remembered sacrifice. He remembered suffering. He remembered love. And he remembered life. He squealed a battle cry, and, before anyone could react, rushed forward and crashed into Eddie, knocking her away in a blow more powerful than a thousand waves breaking, than a hundred worlds colliding, the force of a Shardchicken ENRAGED. The blow made the blast of light towards Ezrium fly off, fading away harmlessly, and freed Cassian. Red stood defensively before the boy, daring anyone to even try getting to him. "Squawkkkk!"

Red the Shardchicken looks pensively at the pedal. It is beautiful. He has never seen something so wonderful in all his time as a captive to the Hunger Games. How much of this color is there in the world? He considers for a moment, then plops down next to the boy and coos as he nuzzles the boy. Perhaps this small person will show him more colors?

Red the Shardchicken screeches in rage as the smoke envelops the boy, but is not deterred! Instead, he pushes forward until finally he can see him. "Squawkkk?" He is curious.

Meanwhile, Red the Sharchicken, scrambling after his friend, stops in alarm when a cloud of smoke envelops his friend. Where did the friend go? He squawks in grief, then sees more prey.
