    “Gem. What’s yours?” A small voice pops up in Aventine’s head. Sorry mom.

    "Yeah. They're nasty. Sorry you met one." Gem said, walking over and giving her a hug.

    "What? You know it's true! Have you never read a book? Giant wolves are also tricky, they do sneaky stuff. And eat hands."

    "Yeah. And tearing people apart. Physically. And familially. They like eating friends, I've heard."

    "Looking for someone? You could check the registry binder. Or go knocking on doors, but there are many doors and some people don't come out anymore."

    He sighed. "Sorry mom." "I mean you could too." Gem nodded. "Fluffy."

    "Of course, young lady." The Old Man says, smiling softly.

    "OOO GIANT WOLV-" Gem starts excitedly, until Elan discreetly-not-so-discreetly elbows him in the gut. Shush. He sends to Gem telepathically. "Stupid dictators are fun to destroy." Elan notes.

    "Oh really? Would it interest you if I claimed I was the most sane of all of us?"

    "I am Mr. E." Mr. E said, putting down his empty mug of hot chocolate, which was promptly taken away by a staff member. "I've been here at the hotel for quite some time."

    The Old Man pipes in. "No, no. That won't be necessary. I can stay with her, you have your fun."

    "Mental hospital. Where do you think we came from?" Gem leans over and whispers. "You could always run a business." Elan noted.

    The man pulled out his briefcase, removing a LED (Large Explosive Device) and placing it off to the side. He then removed a couple LED (Light Emitting Diode) string lights and hung them around his room. Then he pulled out a picture of his LEDs (Large, Excited Dogs) and put it on his mantle. Then he packed away the LED again—he'd use it later. ------- The old man wandered around the hotel aimlessly. With an aim. So not aimlessly. He needed to find someone. He was bored. And had run out of hot chocolate.

    Elan took her hand. "Together?" Gem jogged ahead and trust falled into the portal, scones tumbling about him. A loud "WAHOOOOO" fell away, echoing through the portal into the room.

    Elan nodded and waved his hand. A glowing, swirling portal appeared in front of them. Gem nodded coming into the room, arms full of scones, with one stuffed in his mouth. He muffled out a “-yephh” through the pastry.

    He put his hand on her shoulder. ”it’ll be alright. You ready?”
