  1. So its from the book. Must have read the section she counts heartbeats too fast.
  2. These are from a specific PoV. From my PoV, I don't have an accent. Australians might think.otherwise.
  3. Do.we know Shallan has a blade from WoK or WoB?
  4. Spren might be integral to the processes that they're attracted to. They are drawn to a process but are also.required to complete it. A fire wouldn't burn as well if you keep flame spren away. Wind doesn't blow as hard if there are no flame spren. People dont die if you fight off the deathspren.
  5. The truth spoken by a dishonest person is more likely to attract truthspren than that spoken by an honest one? Is that what you're trying to say?
  6. You're confusing truth (as someone knows it) with Truth (universal). Honesty (and truthspren) are associated with the former as well as the latter.
  7. Keep in mind the fact that Shallan started with dishonest intentions, but was consistently pushedby her own desires toward honest pursuit of exactly what she was pretending. Almost like something was making her honest despite her best intention otherwise... In other words, spren seem to be drawn to things, then proceed to.augment those things by their presence. Hence Syl fighting off deathspren to keep Kaladin alive.
  8. Anything bonded to a deathspren would be a zombie...considering the bond process and all
  9. Are Honorblades considered shardblades? If so, 1) Honorblades, 2) Szeth's blade, 3) other shardblades.
  10. That's Shallan speaking of Jasnah, right? I just considered it an approximation. Not knowing exact dates right now, 6 years is rounding up, 5 years is rounding down.
  11. Omg. You can't catch a blade but you can swallow light and use it to switch the direction of gravity?
  12. I always suspected that Hoid's purpose in mentioning it was trying to see if Dalinar learned about Adonalsium from Honor in his visions. I've always seen Hoid as a scholar who can't help but take part in the things he's pursuing. I don't think his purposes are as grand as reforming Adonalsium. The Letter seems to confirm this when he mentions his interventions and pleads for help on Roshar. He sees what's unfolding as a turning point for the Cosmere somehow and is trying to convince the recipient of that.
  13. Made out of Stormlight sounds a bit hokey to me. Narratively bad. And Spren were around before Honor was killed. Some have changed since the Splintering, maybe even in direct reaction to it, but they aren't Splinters. Is there a quote stating that Divine Breaths are Splinters? I thought Endowment was whole when last we were in Nalthis.
  14. Technically, metals aren't fuel but rather trigger access to the fuel, much like Aons are to Dor. The true fuel us Spiritual, so the physical manifestations are usually what we can point to. I think in the case of Nalthis, color is the physical manifestation and Breaths are the fuel. Physical-->Magic/Fuel Metal-->(Preservation/Ruin) Aon/Forgery-->Dor Color-->Breath Stormlight-->(Roshar magic) Semantics aside...
  15. Aons, Breaths, Metals, Stormlight...all fuels for magic on Sel, Nalthis, Scadrial, and Roshar respectively. If Aons are found in Seons and are referred to.as Splinters (the only real reference to a specific Splinter so far) wouldn't it stand to reason that a Splinter on Scadrial would take the form of a metal core in some entity; on Nalthis it would be a Breath that is some part of an entity; and on Roshar it would be Stormlight found inside... possibly chasmfiends, greatshells, which we've already seen people pull Stormlight from?
  16. There is still a lot of unfocused Shardic Energy making Shadesmar in Sel unnavigatable. Seon and Skaze provide focus for the energy, thereby providing purpose for the intent, just as Spren do on Roshar. Has Brandon specifically said that Seon and Skaze are Splinters?
  17. The unfocused intent of Honor has no purpose
  18. Spren act as a focus for the raw energy that is a result of the splintering. (I'll find the relevant quotes later). I think that WoB fact shows that thinking of Splinters as physical objects is the wrong way to go. If a Shard is a Spiritual entity or collection of spiritual energy with specific intent, then splinters would be pieces of that collection. It might find entries into Cognitive and Physical via foci, such as spren. It seems to me that Stormlight might be related to this, spiritual energy being focused into physical acts.via gems or Nahel bonds, which in turn pulled the energy from High storms by some process we aren't privvy to. There are no.Splinters on Scadrial because all Shard energy is stored various physical forms(mist, atium, wells, etc.) and put toward specific purpose. Splinters would be less controlled and have little or no purpose.
  19. I'm guessing the spren provide a focus and use for the undirected shard power. It sounds like spren might even use this power to make themselves visible in the physical realm. This directing of energy means there is less to do things like pull on the legs of those who visit Shadesmar without enough Stormlight.
  20. While there are many aspects to everyone's mental abilities, when.people refer to someone's IQ, they are usually referring to their critical thinking abilities. Specifically, how much that person can hold in their working mind at one time while performing comparison and alteration processes on them. When King T is stupid, he can't think of many things at one time to perform enough useful work on them to make good decisions. He still knows what he knew and can remember what he was doing while smart, he just can't process new things very well. On smart days he can hold and process more things in his minds than most people can, giving him the ability to solve complex problems and construct complex machinations.
  21. Of course, if you had 168 hours of wake fullness stored up you could stay up the entirety of spring break!
  22. Considering everyone thinks he's an idiot king, I'm guessing most administrative duties fall on a second person, even on his smart days. He's using his high IQ to fry bigger fish. Why waste it running some backwater city-state?
  23. I.totally agree. He's obviously the "means don't justify ends" object lesson. Doesn't make him evil. Makes him a pawn for evil.
  24. Of course, I hear its never not checked out for long.
  25. I dont think so. He's prolific, but I don't thinks he's "multiple epic alternate universe" prolific. They are implemented ideas that keep him writing.
