Alright, here’s one I’ve really wanted to write but it would be way too dark for me. Essentially, the basics are that sacrificial rituals work.

Kill some amount of people in some amount of time, otherwise the parasite takes over and makes you do it? (Like blackrazor if you play DnD) My brain is also not working.

Another idea is that the country needs powerful people to hold back something from taking over the country/world, to make those people you need some amount of sacrifices.

Eventually, they broke apart. “Is there anything else we should talk about?” Daniel held her tight against him. “That’s awful Rex, no one should have to go through any of that! You’re much stronger than you think, to continue after all of that.” He looked at her, eyes full of love. Then, slowly, he leaned in and kissed her.

She smiled at him. “And I want the same. Anything else? For yourself?”

“Is there whiting else that you want in life?”

“I already think that’s how it is. Is it not?”

Daniel sat next to her, putting a comforting arm around her. “What do you want?”
