  1. “I was not aware this was your land, great one,” he said respectfully. That seemed to be the right way to talk to these beasts. “If you wish me to leave, I will.”
  2. Aaron holds still, he didn’t want to fall. Then, he began trying to manipulate his Talent. The bird wants me here. The gamemakers want me here. The audience wants me here.
  3. “It must like you, I’m glad it does.” It probably liked her better than it did him. That was understandable. He vegan pulling himself out of the sleeping bag.
  4. “I hope he didn’t overextend himself to help me,” Edgar said, looking at the unconscious boy. ”I can probably walk,” he said. He wasn’t sure if he actually could, but he would try. He felt a moment of panic. “Where’s Gift?”
  5. He blinked his eyes opened, then looked up at her. He immediately smiled. “I’m awake.” It was nice to see her, it made the pain worth it. Surprisingly, the pain wasn’t as bad as it had been before. And…were those flowers around him? Aaron’s doing?
  6. You could. He doesn’t appear to be in as much pain right now, I think he could talk without a problem. He won’t be able to move much though.
  7. The man sprints away, smiling.
  8. “No! This one is mine. You go get the other ones.”
  9. “Go grab them then. This one’s mine.”
  10. Edgar relaxed some, and stopped shaking. His breathing slowed, becoming more normal.
  11. “Fine. Let go of my ElanBuck.”
  12. “You found this on the ground, so it’s not yours. Technically, we’re both thieves.”
  13. “But then you couldn’t use it either! You’re just a grumpy, spiteful man aren’t you.”
  14. No. That would probably kill him. He’ll live, as he is right now.
  15. Edgar was still fast asleep, though he seemed to be shaking. He arched his back in pain, a soundless scream escaping his lips. Tears were falling from his eyes, wetting the bag. Gift still hung on Jenny’s arm.
  16. The man didn’t say anything. He just smiled, holding the ElanBuck tightly.
  17. I’m not sure. I was built for a…specific purpose that does not include helping him feel better about himself. In fact, my purpose is part of the reason he doesn’t like himself.
  18. That would probably be best, he didn’t need to think worse of himself. And don’t be sorry for me, I don’t need to talk.
  19. “But I have it now!” The young man giggled with joy.
  20. I can. The one who built me is not supposed to have favorites. He built me as a…crutch for Edgar, but I am not allowed to speak of this, or to speak to him at all unless it is an incredible emergency.
  21. A random crowd member snatches it from his hands, screaming with joy. “I got one!”
