  1. Yeah, as little wilson's quote says, it's confirmed that Kel and Hoid don't like one another, but to the best of my knowledge, not that that's the reason that they did not meet.
  2. His response seems to indicate otherwise. If he comes here and says so, then I'd believe it.
  3. Brandon will email it to you if you ask nicely. You're not allowed to share it with anyone though, and it'll take time for him to respond. Also, we aren't allowed to discuss anything that pertains to it on the main boards, although if you find someone else who has it, you're welcome to strike up a PM conversation.
  4. Sorry, Isomere, but this quote seems to confirm that it was intrinsic to Ruin's Shard
  5. I'm afraid that's not accurate at all. Electrum allows you to see into your own future. There are also many other examples: Elantris, Warbreaker, & Stormlight Archive Spoilers
  6. Well, you sure could do that. I was speaking more about IRC, which you can find under that chat tab up there beneath the logo. We're #cosmere if you already have your own client or prefer to use freenode. I'm gonna be busy these next few days but I'm usually somewhere about in the evening. You're welcome to pop in too, Chaos
  7. All three magics existed Pre-Ascension. Every person on Scadrial has the seeds of the Metallic Arts within them, so I imagine that they've been around since Preservation and Ruin first gave life to humanity.
  8. The only thing is, does Dalinar even have the authority to change Kaladin's nahn? Ardents seem to run that sort of thing. Possibly he could get a boost due to his heroism? I do agree that we'll find out rather quickly.
  9. That brings up an interesting question. What is Kaladin's nahn now? Does he start back down at the tenth now that he's been freed?
  10. I am not following you even one bit. Firstly, the magic in the Rithmatist is not inherently evil and is not soft magic, it's one of the most rigidly defined systems Brandon has ever written. Secondly, Adonalsium is in the cosmere, so by definition, so is its opposing force. These are children's series, the cosmere is adult novels. There is no connection whatsoever beyond the occasional Easter egg in his children's books.
  11. I just wanted to mention that all caps is typically considered to be bad form online. It's the equivalent of internet shouting, and it just looks rude. Even if you aren't intending to be offensive, it can come across that way. Much better italicize or bold the words you want to draw attention to. Just a little tip
  12. I also want to point out that Brandon doesn't lie. He'll be evasive, he'll give Aes Sedai answers, he'll RAFO stuff that's a plot point for a future book, but he doesn't lie.
  13. They mostly ended up killing each other in the battles between the new lords that took power after the Collapse.
  14. That would be awesome! You should pop in chat sometime, I'm trying to get a list of good questions going.
  15. I'm going to preface with that, unless I quote Brandon somewhere, everything I'm saying below is just my theory, and not necessarily the truth. It kind of depends on the way you look at it. There are going to be ten different ability sets granted, one set to each order. So, it is, in a way, natural for those people to form distinct subgroups, the orders. Even some of their symbols may be innately tied to the magic. But they're still groups of people, probably organized by the Heralds or maybe Nohadon. I would be highly surprised if this was possible. From an out-of-world perspective, that would make characters able to be way overpowered. In-world, I really think the spren are attracted to your most dominant attributes, so you'd bond with a spren most compatible with your character. For example, if you're someone who is very resolute, but you more often think and act on protection and leadership, you'd become a Windrunner and not a Stoneward. I think it could be possible with Hemalurgy. Yep, I think that's exactly how it works. If you want to be in Shallan's order, you've probably got to bond one of those symbolheads/cryptics/truthspren. Although, she seems to have attracted more than one, so we'll see how this goes. Perhaps she's formed a bond with the one she spoke to in the very end, the one she confessed to about her father's murder. I just don't think all spren are able to form Nahel bonds to grant Surgebinding. There are clearly spren at completely different power levels. Compare tiny little lifespren to windspren or riverspren, who can take human form and perform small acts of magic as pranks. The Nahel spren are just even more powerful than that. I wouldn't be surprised though, if WoR Spoiler Well, we know spren can be killed. I imagine if your spren is killed, or if you start acting against the ideals that bonded the two of you that the spren might leave you, and you would lose your ability to Surgebind, for the same reasons I outlined in my last post. If you remove a Hemalurgic spike, you lose that power. However, I don't believe that Szeth has ever been bonded with a spren. There have been vague hints that something else is going on there. Hopefully, this helped to provide you with at least one perspective on these questions
  16. It's all good. Just remember we don't know half as much as we sound like we do
  17. Good to have you here, Kristal! I really like the drawing you have of Deathpoint, best of luck to you. Hope to see you around, even after the contest
  18. I honestly don't think that there is any sort of innate predisposition to Surgebinding apart from the obvious behaviors that attract a spren. I believe the way it works is that the spren itself acts as a sort of non-invasive Hemalurgic spike, grafting an ability onto someone's Spiritweb when they never had any abilities before.
  19. Oh man, that's pretty terrible XD I'm not sure if I could think of less appropriate music for the Battle of the Tower.
  20. I think that's an excellent idea, but I personally am really really reluctant to label anything having to do with Shallan's memories as Surgebinding. I've never seen any indication that she uses Stormlight at all when using her memories, which doesn't make sense to me, as all other Surgebinding we've seen requires Stormlight.
  21. Ah, yes, I'd forgotten about that. Seekers or Mistborn were wanted.
  22. Wow, that looks pretty awesome! Far better than anything I'd be able to do. Mistborn was pretty excellent, although I think my favorite part was seeing in Alloy how the past affected the future. I'm a pretty huge TWoK fan myself. I'm glad you decided to come aboard, and I hope that I'll be seeing you around
  23. Well, there are a more than a few people writing novels on here right now, so you'll fit right in I'm glad that you decided to join us, see you around!
  24. Only Inquisitors who were Mistborn before their spiking could pierce Copperclouds, since they'd be nearly twice as strong. They stored Feruchemical gold a lot, that's why they were always resting. Some may have figured out how to compound on their own. As for age, I could be wrong, but Inquisitors are no longer human, so their lifespan is different. Hope this helped!
  25. I'm not Phantom, but I do think that there's some pretty serious distinctions there. The orders are fairly obviously groups of Radiants with various powers. The Surges are the forces manipulated by Radiants, shared between orders, such as Gravity, Pressure, Transformation, and Travel. Essences are things purest and easiest products of Soulcasting. They are associated with orders, but not the same thing as them.
