I've actually never read any of either Edda, to be honest. I like to read the stories from mythology, but that kind of language gives me a headache.

No idea. It's also possible that he's NOT talking about the Dawnshards, since he does imply that they're gone.

He also basically admitted that the people in the interlude were members of the 17th Shard. Well, he said that a Dula could be a member of the group, which to me is heavily indicative. Is it an absolute certainty? No. But I'd say it's very, very likely. It's the first interlude. Around page 164, I believe.

I was wondering if anyone would pick up on that. I'd be disappointed with myself if i didnt. I have a translation copy of the prose edda not 5 feet from me at this moment on my bookshelf. That's... actually a little weird. But awesome.

Evil doesn't necessarily mean insane and bloodthirsty. It's also possible that Jezrien just wanted out, and took a more proactive role than Kalak. You know, telling Odium "Let us leave... and we'll leave." That wouldn't even necessarily be evil, although I wouldn't call it good.

I've already posted around here a bit, but I figured I might as well make an introductory post. I'm a 21-year-old student at a community college, studying... nothing specific at the moment. I spend most of my free time on books and video games, although I usually re-read books to save money (I read way too fast for it to be a cheap hobby if I didn't).

Yeah, I'm doing some achievements, but I've cleared out most of the ones that aren't irritating (or require a willing raid group, which isn't always easy).

I wouldn't be at all surprised to learn that the Heralds were extremely powerful. My personal theory is that Jezrien is evil. At the San Diego book signing, someone asked "Isn't it odd that Kalak describes the fighting as 'extremely fierce', but only one herald died?" Brandon's answer was "Yes. There's definitely more going on there than meets the eye, but you'll have to read and find out." This, combined with the arrogant tone he used for Jezrien's lines in his reading at the signing, make me guess is that Jezrien brokered some kind of deal with Odium to let him (and eight of the other heralds) off the hook.

Personally, I think the way that the letter refers to Ati means it IS after Mistborn. It says "what became of him". Not "what he became". And keep in mind that before the events of Mistborn, Ruin's actions were limited to... changing some prophecies. Not really noteworthy, in my opinion.

I don't think it'd be possible to freeze an entire city even then. Flaring the time bubble metals probably enhances the radius OR the intensity of the time-slow. But I doubt it does both. And even then... why would you want to do that to a city?

I might check it out. I've played Turbine's other MMO, Dungeons and Dragons Online. It had some good concepts (and an astoundingly troll-free player community), but it also lacked polish in a lot of ways. So far, my experience with LOTRO is limited to this gut-bustingly hilarious series.

Yeah, I do the same thing periodically. Of course, I quickly cleared out all the quests in Northrend, so I moved on to soloing all the old world dungeons and BC heroics. Then I finished those. Not sure what to do next...
