  1. TFA was a good movie. Kind of a rehash of ANH, but that's sequelitis for ya. I enjoy TFA, and I haven't watched the other two sequels in years. I absolutely agree about Tales of the Jedi and Dooku. During the hostage rescue episode, he very heavily reminded me of an ends-justify-the-means Oath of Vengeance paladin I ran a year or so back. TotJ is SO good, and I can't wait for Tales of the Empire.
  2. Um, ackhually ☝️🤓

True. But Moria is a pre-First Age settlement. So, it could've been made for any Elven prince in Middle-earth. And Mithril objects were only ever made in Moria, maaaybe Valinor, but there's no confirmation if there was Mithril in Valinor or not.

Mithril could also be shipped to other places.

Which is why Númenor had Mithril. I'm not saying that it wasn't made for Legolas, I'm saying that there's a whole bunch of other Elves it could've been made for.

  3. They're… not. Not in any sense. Sanderson didn't have any direct involvement with the series until RJ died. Even then, he wasn't the first person considered to finish the series. GRRM was. All Sando did was fill in the prose. He didn't plot much of the last three books at all. He expanded upon Jordan's notes and made a fantastic ending to an incredible series. Granted, it's not for everyone, but that doesn't at all detract from the greatness of it. GRRM said that his success with GoT was due to WoT, and RJ was hugely influential to Sando. So without The Wheel of Time, so much fantasy would either not exist or would be drastically different.
  4. Keep it. Guns are cool. WWYDIYF a Venator class Star Destroyer in your pocket?
  5. What would you have me do, then? Nothing?
  6. Jeffrey. No further comment. How many corpses are there in your freezer?
  7. I just finished S2 of The Bad Batch and WHAAAAAAAAATTT

    THEY CAN'T JUST SAY THAT

SEASON 2 IS AMAZING, ISN'T IT?

That finale is the reason why I say that Hemlock is scary.

I'm a few episodes in now, and I totally agree. The dude was freaky before, but wow does it get dialed up to 11 in S3. Can't wait for the finale.

  8. True, but making a Star Wars show without watching Star Wars is a little like making a lotr show without reading the books. Wait a minute… That is true. I did say almost certain. And BoBF wasn't bad, it just wasn't great.
  9. Good LORD, it's incredible. I can't wait to see it. My graduation ceremony is on the same day, so I won't be able to watch it on release. If that's true, then it's gonna be a train wreck. I'm only halfway thru S2, but I totally agree about Hemlock. Dude is freaky af. The voice acting is immaculate and so, so coldly intimidating. Well, Filoni's directing it, so it's almost certain to be great. I wouldn't care if it were a S4 of The Mandalorian, but I really wish the title was better. "The Mandalorian and Grogu" gives off Dwayne Johnson action movie vibes and I don't like it.
  10. What is the airspeed velocity of an unladen swallow?
  11. I have news from Helgen about the dragon attack.
  12. Nope. TPBM is mad that the Shard doesn't use the Oxford comma.
  13. I might. I'm already looking at other TTRPGs (not that I don't like 5e, I just want to try out other things), and I've looked into the systems from Free League Publishing, and Pendragon 6e by Chaosium. 45-60 dollars for core rulebooks, plus any peripherals I might need, for ~3ish different systems adds up to a lot. That said, SA does take preference over the others, so I'll at least go to my local game store and flip thru the rules.
  14. Behold! The not-quite-finished sci-fi short story I wrote based on a thought last night.

Omg that could literally be a passage from a published book. I’m not even kidding. That’s really good!!

      That's really good.

And of course, my brain immediately goes to the question "how does FTL work?"

Because that's the kind of guy I am.

You clearly paint a story; even though we don't know everything, we know that stuff is going on.

      No clue yet lol.

  15. My dog. And a few years younger so that we could have more time with her. How long was the last thing you wrote?
  16. 644 words, three dead people, and six mutilations via laser beam. I think that that's a good start to a writing session.

@The Bookwyrm yeah. It's not fan-fiction, just a reference, but yeah.

@Kajsa sure am! It's at 797 words now, but still only nine casualties.

  17. My favorite warlock was a V human with intelligence as his dumpstat, and he very firmly believed he was a wizard. His 'spellbook' was "this real freaky looking book I found in a cave." Rogue's are so much fun. I see them get bashed a lot for sneak attack damage not scaling well (among other things), but I've noticed that while not every class is perfect, they're all pretty good if the DM sets up encounters in a way that all of a class's features can be useful over the course of the campaign.
  18. The whole feel of the class doesn't fit with the way my group plays the game. And their ability to duplicate certain magic items - for free - is incredibly broken. Especially with Bags of Holding, because I have a player who would abuse the heck out of that.
  19. Welcome to the Shard! What's your favorite D&D class?
  20. I'm one of those curmudgeons who doesn't like Artificer. So I just homebrewed a Wizard subclass that can make certain magic items and called it the School of Enchantment. YKYAN when you build a subclass from the ground up.
  21. I had a dream last night that I had 2.9k notifications on the Shard. Three of which were from an RP I'm not a part of, but for some reason was now in PMs? Also a PM from Stick to me and someone else about starting an RP with/about Hod, the blacksmith in Riverwood, MeLaan, and somebody named Zephyr.

    It was hecking weird.

Oh, and then I dreamt about jetskiing to a waterside restaurant with my girlfriend. Neither of us have ever ridden a jetski.
