    She put her hand on his cheek. “Maybe not yet. I can tell you’re still really scared. ”Magic isn’t wrong, Lukas. It can just be used in the wrong way. It’s like hands. Hands can be used to comfort or to hurt. That doesn’t make your hands evil just because they can do wrong, as long as they don’t.”

    "He called her the Seizer," she said so that Lukas couldn't hear. "Apparently she took kids for a queen to use for manual labor."

    She looked at them and her eyebrows furrowed slightly. She burned it a little more.

    "Yes." She nodded, and started slowly burning brass. "I'm only going to do a little bit at first, then we'll see if you want more."
