  1. Aventine came into view. She didn't acknowledge whether or not she saw Insa (she did). She grabbed a random book from a shelf and sat at a small table. Maybe reading - or at least pretending to read - would calm her down. Once there were four children whose names were Peter, Susan, Edmund, and Lucy. This story is about something that happened to them when they were sent away from London during the war because of the air-raids.
  2. Aventine stopped for a moment between the library's double doors. For a few seconds, her fingers gently grazed the wood grain, tracing it. She blinked and went further into the library.
  3. She watched TAAron and Haly leave, then turned to Lerac. "You can go, if you need to." She started walking towards the library. @The Aspiring Archivist
  4. “It doesn’t look like nothing, per se…”
  5. Already looking down, she noticed quickly. “Um… Lerac?”
  6. She blinked many times in succession, her mouth hanging open. She wanted to retort. To smart mouth. To slap him. But she couldn’t. Because as much as she hated his gang, his former way of life… she knew he was right. She turned and walked away, not saying another word. Rashi’s words stung but again, Marewill knew she was right. She ascended the stairs, making near no noise on the steps. Entering a guest bedroom, she locked the door, turning back around and sliding her back against the wood. Silently, she stopped being able to hold back her tears. @The Stormfather
  7. "It's a good place," she said, both to Haly and herself. "Always happy to meet a friend of yours," she said, not sounding happy at all.
  8. "Marewill, stop! How many times have I asked you to-" "Oh, please, like you couldn't do anything. I'm sure you knew about the assignment, whether before or after, and I'm sure they would've mentioned the little girl with him that night. Maybe you weren't there. Fine. I'll give you that. But you could've left! You could've tried to do something to make some sort of difference, but no."
  9. "Finally you do something worthwhile," she muttered, going back to the table.
  10. She shrugged. "A few weeks. Maybe a couple months."
  11. She smiled a little. "Thanks... so's yours." Her voice was accented differently than Haly's.
  12. "I'm Aventine." She didn't seem rude, but like she had a lot on her mind.
